we had a football player christian eriksen who also had a heart attack during a game? he was fitted with a pace maker and after some time recovering he's now back playing football in the premier league so it can be done and i hope this young man can and will make a speedy recovery...my prayers go to him and his family

@@dwaynechalmers9478 There are millions, literally MILLIONS of professional athletes worldwide. 1,000 cardiac events in athletes since covid is probably statistically low--I mean, FIFA found that there were an average of 125 deaths of association footballers a year from cardiac events between 2014-2018, so if we look at "since covid started" that would be about 350-375 footballers alone, and that's based specifically on data from FIFA from before covid was a thing. Add up all the athlete deaths at all levels in all other sports, especially high cardio ones, and that would easily get you to 1,000.
Frankly, 1,000 athletes seems pretty low, all things considered.

Just to be clear Damar died on the field, and wasn't "nearly dead". His heart was restarted with CPR and electricity (defibrillation). My thoughts and prayers go out to Damar and his family.

10 years ago today I went to work and had a massive heart attack which they had to revive me before the ambulance during the ambulance and then after in the hospital, they gave me a ten percent chance of making it, after putting me in a coma for three days to rest, my heart, then waking up and having a quadruple bypass and after that was said and done they gave me about a year. It’s 10 years later and I’m here and strong. all things are possible with Christ. Keep the faith keep praying.

We Westerners eat the most 'disease-promoting' diet on earth, in mankind's history, ever. Not only does this result in MANY conditions in ADVANCED years that could otherwise be prevented (heart attacks, strokes, dementia, alzheimers, diabetes, cancers, etc.)...but also MANY condition now-a-days while people are even YOUNG (arrythmias, childhood cancers and obesities and many others...)

That's a great reminder Julie. But I fear their hearts are so ravaged by the inflammation that when they go, they go. Damar had an elite medical team 20 seconds from him when it happened, they began CPR within 60 seconds, and he's still being kept alive by machines right now.

I was a 13 year old boy in 1971 and was at the Lions/Bears game when Chuck Hughes died on the field. I was never so traumatized until last night when I saw that young man being given CPR. Quit calling this an "injury." An injury is when you fall and break your leg or even your neck. This man had a cardiac arrest! There are not hundreds, but thousands of hits/tackles/impacts like this every WEEK in the NFL. None, absolutely none of them, ZERO PERCENT of the time, result in a cardiac arrest. And if this man's cardiac arrest WAS solely and directly caused by making that tackle, it will be the first time something like that has EVER happened in football history. Remember that. All you people who want to blame the sport and the NFL, remember that. You are 300× more likely to get struck by lightning twice in the same day than a football player is to have a cardiac arrest during a game. This is awful. It's tragic. It's unprecedented. It's never happened before. Praying for this young man.

I wonder about the schedule- I don't think they can reschedule this game unless it is this week, and I don't know if the players would be up to it- it would nee to be bu Thursday at the latest. They might call the game a tie or they might just say no result, both teams play one fewer game than other teams and then the playoff seedings are based on this. As a group, regardless of race, a group of people took a knee and prayed together for the life of a man, fellow player.
