if i have to force the 4 ttttracks into the 4 studio albums, i'd say: euphoria - GKMC -- sprawling, aggressive, unorthodox beat drops 6:16 in LA - TPAB -- dense lyrics esp in the intro, more jazzy instrumentals meet the grahams - Mr Morale -- no joke this could be a cut track from this album. its a family therapy session, no need to elaborate further not like us - DAMN. -- the most accessible, club banger, but with hard-hitting lyrics if you top and listen the most amazing thing about Kendrick's released tracks is how they all still fit into his style, and his personal narrative, even post-Mr Morale. he was healing, but he can always back slide into Compton KDot if provoked
Y'all tripping!!! I honestly believe Kendrick set out to win a "rap battle." What Kendrick did in circa 36 hours is galvanize the entire Hip-Hop community (true lovers of Hip-Hop) around the love for the culture. He also put out a warning to current and future Hip-Hop artists, and that is if your lyrics, flow and verbal creativity isn't true to the art and the people who created this genre (black folks) , you'll get clowned too. What people need to understand is that Kendrick used Drake as the personification of the music industry (namely Hip-Hop) to call out what has been mentioned on many occasions, but never addressed directly in Hip-Hop. I'm willing to go as far as Calling Kendrick the Max Roach of Hip-Hop (do your research and find out what Max Roach did for Jazz artist). It is obvious that Kendrick does not like Drake, but it is much more obvious that Kendrick has a deep hate of the music industry. This battled wasn't necessarily directed at Drake, Drake was nothing more than a pond that Kendrick used to get at the music industry. And for the sake of transparency, I am a 59 year old Hip-Hop head that applauds Kendrick for taking this stance to uplift black culture and a form of music we created.
Euphoria (There are too many bars to ignore) Not Like Us (This is a bop) 6:16 in LA(Please listen to this again because the first half is immaculate) Meet The Grahams(The shock value was wild) Family Matters(I think Drake did really well) Push ups(I didn’t like this song) Taylor Made(This aged poorly) The Heart Part 6(Drake was on the defense so I ain’t like the track that much)
There is no way to say that Kendrick did not set out to win this rap battle when by all appearances, he was ready for maybe 2 or more years to go against Drake and was just waiting on an opportune time to spring it to the public uproar that it became. That's why I find some of these recent takes from other artists or commentators saying they should have a song together, or even tour together, because I'm here like, "did you not hear them???" They despise each other. Kendrick especially has absolutely no respect for Drake at all
