I learned during an apothecary apprenticeship with a local herbalist that blackberry root tincture can help strengthen the bladder. I have aging family members who use this, and it has definitely made outings easier for them.

No, tip layering requires resources from the existing crown. You would have to do the layering BEFORE you cut.

Nettles are much tougher plants (tolerant of both shade and drought) that will need to be dug up.
The nettle leaves are edible, and there are loads of recipes online. If you dry the leaves properly, they make a good tea, too.
