Imo there never was an Illmatic of grime. Boy in da Corner is more like the Paid In Full of grime. Seminal. Setting the standard for how good a grime album can be. Unfortunately grime quickly progressed to the late 90s era of hip hop with endless mainstream, uncreative albums. Totally skipped what should have been its golden age because it was corrupted by the industry. Shame.
thats me @ 37:07 black yute with the fade in the middle of the moshpit. one of the best nights of my life. hard to describe what it felt like hearing one of your favourite grime artists of all time perform an albumn that shaped you and a generation of youths from our childhood. this album was london. love to dizzee every rassclart time.
I'm just getting into Dizzee at 24 and, although I didn't like Boy in da Corner when I first heard it, it has grown on me a lot. I would have loved to be there now, glad you got to experience it!
I used to think rappers had no skill at all, then you watch a dizzee spitting a full album of lyrics he wrote from nearly 20 years ago for one night only, and it blows you away.
This needs billions of views, so much to learn, the production of this album was so ahead of it's time, just listen to those beats, the flow, the lyrics, the word play and importantly the crowd reaction. This is GRIME. I'm just so sad I was only 10 when this album first came out
Grime, for the most part, is a independent, live genre. It's traditionally been more about raves and events and being underground more than it is getting signed and recording albums. A lot of MCs don't really care about albums or making grime more mainstream and monetized. For a while it was seen as too abrasive to be mainstream and only able to be popular by being incredibly watered-down and just a bit shit. It's only quite recently artists like Skepta are starting to release proper albums and get recognised, albeit with a slightly more radio/American-friendly sound. Also it's quite a young genre and it's had so little backing, though it's looking like that's going to change in the coming years with the internet etc. having changed things a lot.
Going this intensely non stop for an hour with only about 2 of you on a big stage is something you don't see much of in grime, even most hip hop artists nowdays go on with their full entourage to not be nervous, quality
this is old but the story is, wiley escalated the beef with so solid that started with dizzee pinching lisa maffia's bum, when dizzee just wanted to squash the beef then when mega stabbed dizzee in retaliation for wiley threatening them, wiley ran away and left dizzee to die
So the tracks I heard from him were the ones in the chart and I didn’t like them so never bothered listening to any more, but I just heard only one king and I’m like woooo this is mental I love it so now trying to find more like that one, any ideas?

Don't let the commercial shit fool u. Real rap is arguably the hardest form of music to pull off.
Still the best grime album.

Also the beat for "Round We Go" is so fucking disgusting! Big up whoever produced that, structured very well.
Try not to jizz yourself
lol
odrxC I was 16 when this came out and I loved these days when grime was grime and u could get killed for your postcode. LDN
knife crimes worse than it was back then
9:58 - the spontaneous crowd bounce is testament to what a banger stop dat is. Simply the best grime song ever. Period. Look at the peoples reaction.
most underrated grime song of all time
A 17 year old single handedly created the best grime album of all time, says a lot about other grime artists as a whole lol

He wrote most of the tracks when he was 14 as well.
It says a lot about Dizzee
kablamopow The guy was probly just desperate to get out of poverty/hard times
A 20 year old Nas made the best hip hop album of all time too...
Who knew my day would start off with this iconic show at 8:30AM lol hyped for the day
Mans knows ^
Thank you for releasing the footage!
Its mad. I always watch this live once every month. Same energy & sound like his the album.
Still bumping this album.
Going this intensely non stop for an hour with only about 2 of you on a big stage is something you don't see much of in grime, even most hip hop artists nowdays go on with their full entourage to not be nervous, quality

Imagine if Wiley came out and spat his verse on 2 far. That would have been fuckin' incredible!!!
Shame they can't work things out.
at about 22:45 the album version of Fix Up Look Sharp goes "Dizzee Rascal - Rolling deep!"
they cut the Roll Deep shout-out :/
And Godsgift, bit peak that they didn't play his CLICK CLICK bit at the end of the tune
Sick. Not just the best Grime album of all time but the best in any genre of the 00's
