Owned both. 2015 Hellcat Challenger Manual, and a 2016 C7 Z06 Manual with the Z07 package. The Z06 is by far the superior car in terms of performance and "wow factor", but for most people that aren't going to spend every weekend at the racetrack, the Hellcat is the car to have for a bad ass daily driver.
"most powerful" doesn't indicate which car is faster. Weight is a factor. The Z06 has less power than the hellcat, but the Z06 beats the hellcat's ass in a straight line, because it weighs about 1,000 lbs less. And the Camaro ZL1 has 640 HP and also weighs a lot less than the hellcat. So the ZL1 is very likely as fast or even faster than the hellcat, but it DEFINITELY out-handles the hellcat and is a much better performance car.
I actually did a poll once among some of my fellow students at my college and another college in the area. More people preferred the Corvette as far as looks and thought the "707" horsepower in the Hellcat was a bad idea. A bit paraphrased, but the point stands.
Straight line performance and horsepower isn't everything. Give me a car that can handle extremely well AND is very fast yet comfortable as a touring car, the Vette will be my choice. And it looks better! But you WILL save $10,000 by getting the Hellcat which can be use to buy new tires from time to time. Vette for the win.
But then you have the advantage of having a Coupe that can seat 4 Adults and a baby, 16.5Cu. Ft of Trunk space. the Tire Argument is only for if you drive like you stole it. Challenger ADR will fix that Argument. ( will be Sold with 2 Sets of Drag Radials)
***** that's subjective and only owners know how good or bad these cars are but this is the internet, 100 lies can become a fact. as the video said, 3200 miles in 12 mths of Track use and not a problem was reported for the hellcat.
Randall Collins that's your opinion. the challenger is more comfortable to travel and smoother ride. and most people do race in a straight line ! plus I can take more than one passenger and still go super fast
Tomaz Hilton That's fine. It is my opinion. If I were single and had to choose between these cars, the Vette would still be my choice. Even with my family and the convenience of four doors and a trunk, I still wouldn't drive a Hellcat. Roman loves it because it's always pissed off and angry and if that's what you want for your family hauler, be my guess. I tend to like some degree of civility with my car no matter what. And be honest - you don't buy a Hellcat for its convenience and family capabilities. You buy it because of what it is, a screaming 700+ horsepower, bragging rights machine with all the sophistication of a school bus. But like Roman said, you forget that when you put the power down. And those who like this car or owns one - you know this. And that's perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with that. I just tend to like style and refinement with my speed and I'll be glad to spend more for it. Even the 2017 Dodge Viper is a much better track car for drag and circuit racing than what the Hellcat could ever be. For extra money, I'll gladly get into an E63 AMG or an Audi S6/S7.
Chevy can make the Ultimate Corvette and they just won't put their everything great in a single car for some reason, yet, the GS Corvette is a dream indeed... love it
just a matter of taste and preferences.. once a heavy muscle car with power but also way more room and usable.. the other is 2 seat casual joy ride thing. One is built as a muscle car for the street and daily use.. the other is just a novelty, race car.
Even if I had the money, neither would be my choice. This is the category of cars that I find kinda meh... The Vette is at least a true sports car. It's, cool the way this was done. It's very much like two friends just bs-ing. I remember seeing the Vettes race in what was the ALMS. They sound awesome. They were loud and in the city, without earplugs, made me even a bit nauseated. Still loved it. I agree, Porsche!
fire killer Certainly it shouldn't the concern of an individual to censor his own language for potential "dirty" language when speaking colloquially to a coworker or friend. However, when your words are broadcast to thousands, there will be some who will recognize that which is dirty.
grand sport wins hands down, better interior materials, better build quality, superior driving dynamics, better braking, better handling, weighs 1000+ lbs less, N/A V8, and despite being down on so much power it sets a similar 0-60 times.... but when the hellcat only beat the camaro V6 yes the V6 on track by 3-4 tenths of a few tracks... thats sad.
Jeff K bruh your really gonna pay an extra 10k to buy a plastic car I'd rather burn the rubber with the extra horse power u don't got then drive a China plastic made car that probably is made with less than half of its price tag you forgot the hellcat is the last real muscle car that can do real burnouts I would probably be in a safer speed wreck in a boat than a child's toy you get at walmart
For the $10,000 less you spend on the Hellcat, you can get giant fat wheels and tires, and a new pulley that'll up your boost and make your car 900+ horsepower, and still have some extra money to spend on a set of headers and a full exhaust.
NovaMan 350 1: those mods would void the warranty and decrease the already bad reliability of the dodge. 2: you can't fit any larger wheels in the wells of the dodge.
Cory R 1: Anyone who modifies their ride doesn't give a shit about warranties. The Challenger has zero reliability issues. 2: Yes, you can fit larger tires in the wheels wells. Anything up to 315's on the stock wheels. 3: pull your head out of your ass.
NovaMan 350 Why wouldn't Dodge put bigger tires on it then, they would obviously be dumbasses. We're not looking at modded vehicles anyway, we're comparing these two stock vehicles. When you look at the Dodge, all you get is a ton of power, compared to the Vette that has good power, awesome handling, and good overall value.
@@coryr9938 the dodge challenger can still be handled around corners unless you are going over 55 mph and hit the corner hard this isn't the 70's and 80's the challenger handles better than most cars on the road, I've seen videos of these cars on tracks and they handle pretty decent for the type of car they are, it depends on the driver.
i had a lamborghina and corvette hotwheel and i was talking to my dad about them and i said i liked the corvette more , the hotwheel was a 1997 i still have it to , i have all my hotwheels from 1998 when i was 4 yrs old those little cars are 18 yrs old
You're right, I may be an old fossil -- I remember the late 90's when the vette won skidpad, braking, 1/4 mile, top speed AND lap times. But it didn't have the "auspacious real wood interior". It stomped pretty much everything that cost twice its price [viper didn't exist back then], so road & track and car & driver awarded the porsche top honors. Judging skewed because of 'Corvette cheap interior'. Who looks at the wood grain heater/AC controls while moving at 144 mph??
It's kind of comparing apples and oranges. If you wanted a true competition, you would have to do viper vs corvette, or camaro ss vs hellcat. We all know who would win those.
HUNTER I agree . people go after the hellcat with light sports cars. you have to give challenger credit for its weight and how fast it can go. it will keep up with the zo6 that's 1000 pounds lighter. that's saying something. some people like cutting on dodge. but the charger hellcat has a higher top speed than the new zo6. and is still the fastest gas powered sedan on the planet.
tire width makes very little difference in acceleration numbers. they help your lateral holding much more. tire construction is a much bigger factor. swapping the hellcat to DRs in the same size would make a bigger difference.
hard choice even as a weekend driver either of those might be limited i like going to the lake or trails so ground clearance is a big deal and space for kayak
I Had a z06 and now owning a Hellcat challenger ,If you're a tall guy then u gotta go FOR the Hellcat I'm 6"1 And When I bought the hellcat I had the feeling That I'm driving a truck compared to the small interior of the z06 , I changed my exhaust on the hellcat I upgraded it to a Borla full kit and trust me there's nothing louder than my car in Houston !😌
Someday my friend and I are going to have that epic race. My challenger srt-8 vs his C6 corvette. Both are stock. Mine has the 6.4 hemi. When it happens I will post it on my yt channel. Hopefully this summer or next summer.
I would take the Challenger Hellcat ! When everyday practicality comes into play the Challenger is a better all around car than the Vette. The Challenger is a Touring car whereas the Vette is a Sports Car.... As for someone mentioning build quality might want to look real carefully as the Vette have been known to have some notoriously crappy paint problem ORANGE PEEL, They also have had major overheating problems also poor fit and finish issues also. But each car serves their purpose quite well. Do you want a car that can handle the everyday or a car that you can drive everyday with sacrifice.
A 2 door Challenger is NOT an everyday kind of car (as Roman put it) because who's gonna crawl in and out of the back seats? Try getting your 1 year old out of the back seat.
The majority of the cars I've driven have been manual transmission cars. I do not think that the manual is always the one you want. Modern day automatic transmissions are so good now. Especially in the Hellcat that ZF transmission Dodge is using is amazing. However, the best car is the Charger Hellcat
9:00 my neighbor daily drives his 2015 corvette, but he's single with no kids. he loves the car if you don't need to haul the family the vette wins hands down.
it looks like the challenger is made more for everyday driving and fun time too, whereas the vette is purely race inspired. both hellacious lookers, just made to do different things.
Being over 6 feet tall, the Corvette, Viper and many Porsche etc are too small !! I am not obese or over weight, just big/tall and again not out of shape or out of weight.. Challenger Hellcat ultimate car, best car ever !
Comparing apples and oranges but I'd get the challenger hellcat automatic. It's more fun most of the time. The only time the grand sport can be more fun is on a road course or winding country road but one mistake and kiss your car goodbye. Plus the hellcat cost less and is more comfortable to drive.
I wonder what would happen if Dodge stopped using the old E-Class chassis and brought the weight of the challenger in line with other cars in it's class.
Why am I watching this? I can't afford any of this.
+HIGHTONEEE Because it's fun!
HIGHTONEEE start saving
HIGHTONEEE I would never spend 80 grand on these 2 cars
What kind of car would u spend 80k on?
HIGHTONEEE that's why they put that T-shirt ad.
Actually if I wanted a car that did what you said in a similar package I would get the Camaro.
Bro, there's a reason why they didn't compare the Hellcat to the Camaro, you can't compare the most powerful American muscle car to just any car.
Yeah, guess I'm not a fan of muscle cars. I think things like power, suspension, brakes, and tires, should all be in balance.
"most powerful" doesn't indicate which car is faster. Weight is a factor. The Z06 has less power than the hellcat, but the Z06 beats the hellcat's ass in a straight line, because it weighs about 1,000 lbs less.

Well its a good thing there's youtube to actually prove how wrong u are, check zo6 vs hellcat and zl1 vs hellcat.
Bought a new Corvette C7 Grand Sport with a Manual Transmission, and it’s an amazing sports car. Buy one, life is short.
Comparing the Hellcat to a Grand Sport is pointless. 2 totally different types of cars.
Apples & oranges...you're comparing the Incredible Hulk to Captain America.
bananas and berries

Cameron Kinkade
Right. And you don't have to spend $80k to buy a Grand Sport.
it wouldnt matter. The challenger trunk is huge. I fit 2 28" drag radials, a tool box and a jack in it with room to spare.
Right, a corvette coupe has 15 cubic foot whereas the corvette convertible has 5 cubic foot of trunk.
These are the two cars they are testing so these are the two trunks they are comparing. Works for me.

HUNTER if you know anything about TFL's mash ups, they take two cars that don't exactly compete directly
hellcat is only faster because the aero package on the vette. i bet the new camaro zl1 has a pretty comparable top speed
It should be the Hellcat vs. ZL1, not the SS, the ZL1 is more a direct competitor.
Vette HANDS DOWN! It can turn bro
tire width makes very little difference in acceleration numbers. they help your lateral holding much more. tire construction is a much bigger factor. swapping the hellcat to DRs in the same size would make a bigger difference.

Zachary Martin I own a widebody. Much better

This is like lightweight vs heavyweight . You should compare the vette to a viper and the challenge to a camero or mustang
Ok so the hellcat =heavy ,square brick ,lots of power ,not enough tire, must launch in 2nd or spin....corvette = perfect
picture putting that setup of the hell cat in a 2 door coupe that is more aerodynamic.

"So what nathan has 2 inches on me, I can put more junk in my trunk" .......bwahahahahaha
Corvette looks like a children's toy 😂 so small
it looks like the challenger is made more for everyday driving and fun time too, whereas the vette is purely race inspired. both hellacious lookers, just made to do different things.
Vette all day ⚡⚡
Being over 6 feet tall, the Corvette, Viper and many Porsche etc are too small !!
I love the Challenger. An everyday car that looks as cool as a car can look.
2:30 hope the camera guy was spotting traffic for you
I wonder what would happen if Dodge stopped using the old E-Class chassis and brought the weight of the challenger in line with other cars in it's class.
Awesome review 😊👍
I like the hellcat more I think it has the best look at night and during the day
dodge is up to itsold self. with quality control and reliability issues.
aky19832001 Incorrect. Exceedingly strong & reliable. Tremendous all around drivability in hot or cold heated seat weather.
Leonard Rice correct. SRT is top ten for reliability even with that power it has
Nathan the vette sounds 10 times better
Canyonmonster300 i think the supercharger on the hellcat gives it such a badass sound. it just sounds like a hellish cat screaming
the best muscle car in the world. vs.
the best sports car in the usa. (viper out of production).
I'll take both please!
