Bro.... 3 weeks of my life wasted... looking for an answer to this.... This should be up there with the answer to the meaning of life. You're a life saver.... Love you bro. I've Subscribed :)
Thank you for this. This is a fight between working on the cloud with google sheets and having better interfaces with Excel. Makes it harder to streamline the workflow of a company.
Hi Chandeep. Excellent! Thanks for showing this technique in Google Sheets. Was not aware of the FLATTEN function. Very cool. Microsoft should take note. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Thumbs up!!
If I want to Unpivot Google Forms results, can I make the bottom of the range dynamic? Also, can I have the unpivoted table version auto populate with new results as more forms are completed? My questions appear as columns, where I want them as rows. My questions in this case are scores (Yes = 1 NO = 0 N/A = null), and I need to pivot on the data.
Any tip to have blank entries not show up as a row? Let's say Roy had a blank value on 9th of January. I would still like the rest of the 9th of january Second issue is having a change range end. How do i prevent it from using blank rows that would have data in the future?
This is BRILLIANT! I have been looking it for years, I can’t seem to get it to work though with certain text columns not being unpivoted (eg col names are name, place, product, JAN, FEB, MAR, APR, comments), I only want to unpivot the columns in CAPS, Any suggestions?
Thanks David. Glad to see you here. To make this work you'll first have to make a concatenated column with Name, Place, Product so that you have the following columns Concat, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr and then proceed with flatten function! Hope this helps :)
Google sheets makes unpivoting difficult with double headers. Although a quick hack is to concatenate headers to form a single header and then carry out the process.

In the flatten function mention
Rows in concat column
Column = Jan, Feb Mar,
Values = Cross tabulated values
It should work
@@GoodlyChandeep yes that’s what I thought, wonder if it’s doable in one formula! May experiment soon
Also feel free to check out my own TH-cam, I have many videos on g sheets too!
Man! Thank you so much for this!
Very clever, thanks
Very useful, thank you!
Love this, are you planning to do one that involves multiple headers in google sheets?
Google sheets makes unpivoting difficult with double headers. Although a quick hack is to concatenate headers to form a single header and then carry out the process.
