Would never work here. Thick, nasty clay. It would all run off downstream long before it had a chance to soak in where needed. Seems ideal for sandy type soils. Do they capture the excess water and direct it back toward the aquifer/source or otherwise attempt to reclaim what runs off?
Finally after loosing business , client installed the drip Irrigation system now. Few people take it for granted when they are advised. All vegetables watered manually from the running water had dust particles within and sand content when it was taken to market. But now onward the orchard which has guava 6 , mango 5, Jaamun 2, Citrus 3 , Green cardamom, Bayleaf, Dragon fruits, Apple ber, Indian Goose berries, Passion fruits varieties, all in 3 acres area being irrigated and fertigated through Drip irrigation. We skipped this season vegetable farming here in between as the soil ph was 9.5. Conducting Soil Test then will take up a corrective action plan. Thank you for the comment.
flood irrigation in indian terms. Mostly used for crops like Potato, Sugarcane, wheat, paddy, corn etc. But this fails when you cultivating fruits & vegetable crops ...We have finally installed Drip irrigation and will take up vegetable farming once again after rainy season.

I am also considering this method but how long you need to manually pour water on crop ? 1 month till crop root develops and suck water from furrow ?
