    You know it is the good old days when you see a Venturi effect vent tube on the back of your small block Chevy. Those speedometer cables STILL leaked with the seals. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

    We definitely need more videos on this project :)

      Thanks. Yeah I probably should, its a project that gets way too little of my time unfortunately. Rebuilding the Turboglide was an experience though given the lack of spare parts nowadays.

    I am about to begin a project to install a Turboglide back into my 1960 Impala Convertible. Currently, I have a 1962 Aluminum Powerglide in it (that fit and works just fine) but the little man on my shoulder keeps reminding me that the engine code suffix is stamped "HA" Turboglide, Multiple Carburetor. The whole reason that the original Turboglide is sitting on a pallet in my storage unit is because of this exact issue. If I didn't run the engine once a week, out the fluid would drip. Thanks again!

    With this installed does it also help from the speedometer jumping on the dash? Or is this just a notorious thing for the 56 chevy? It's rather annoying and wish I could fix it to where it's smooth and not jumpy

      No, this has nothing to do with the speedometer itself. Typically a _bouncing_ or _jumping_ on these old school GM mechanical speedometers is an internal lubrication issue. It requires the removal and full disassembly of the unit to address.

      Try Northwest transmission parts out of Ohio (nwtparts.com)

    Is the power glide bullet the same as the power glide?

    • @DrShock
      @DrShock  ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you meant to ask is this part the same between Turboglides and Powerglides of these years, and if so yes they are.

      Yes thanks for that. Damn auto correct. So I see the link I’ll order the cast iron powerglide bullet and that will solve my leaking turboglide!!

    It doesn’t fix the root cause of the leak (ATF overfilling the pan), it just plugs the hole it leaks from.
    Edit: I should have said *overflowing* the pan.

      But its as good as you're going to get. As shown in the video, the vintage guidance from GM engineering is seal backflow into the pan for the Turboglide transmission is _working as designed_ ;-)
