    You got a great laugh haha
    Got my old Enco 9x20 for $50 but i had to drive 3 hours to get it and needs a rebuild. This video is inspiring me to get off my arse and restore it and actually use it for its purpose.

    First you never leave a Chuck key in the Chuck….ever.Day 1 of any metal shop class in high school.

      Correct. That is how you get fired in a machine shop. I have been guilty of it though. Any machinist that says he or she has never let a key in the chuck is telling a tall tale for the apprentices.

      Hi Derek. Absolutely. I got my Jet from Equipment Sales & Surplus in Auburn, WA (local for me, but he ships as well). I have bought 56 machines from him over the years and 2 have been either floor model sales or refurbished. The quality is the same as the new ones I bought from them. I do business there when ever I can and he has taken care of two friends with their wood lathe and sheet metal break purchases.

    While the vid is somewhat helpful, the description is misleading. IT is NOT a "Setting up one". It's already set up.

    You wont be so happy when you have to replace that stupidly thin Gates drive belt.

    Your explanation of why you turned down a nut because you want to install a quick change post makes no sense

    • @MattofManyTrades
      @MattofManyTrades  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry. I should have explained the whole process better, but there was some cussing and frustration when mounting the Quick Change Tool Post or trying to the first time. Here is the short version: The QCTP comes with a bolt that had a different thread than the one on the bottom of my compound slide. I had to take the compount off the cross slide, take it all apart, turn down metric nut, and pin it in place with a roll pin on the bottom of the compound (anti rotation) in order to allow me to mount the QCTP. Why not use the bolt already on the compound? It was both too short and was larger in diameter than the hole in the QCTP. The lathe is a Jet and the QCTP is from Little Machine Shop and everything was supposed to be a direct mount - hence the cussing and extra work when it was not. In hindsight, I could have also turned a new double threaded bolt, but I would have had to source the right thread die.

      @@TomSGao This is my second one. REALLY handy size. I would advise staying away from anything with plastic gears!
