Preorder Multitudes - New album out on April 14th (feist.lnk.to/m...) Music video by Feist performing How Come You Never Go There. (C) 2011 Polydor (France)
the way she uses her voice as an instrument on the "HOW" of "how come we never go there?" its literally ahorn in the middle of thatpart. Genius She does this all the time too. Listen to other records ofhers, she does it all the time. She also knows how to excite reverb with her voice perfectly. True skilled musician.
Can we stop with the comparing of inspiration and different artists and just appreciate one piece at a time? The lyrics and music speak, the video speaks...who cares.
I can feel Take me to church in this song! It hits me soon as the chords change in the beginning. But, this is nothing new in music. WHY ARE WE TRIPPING
Bruce Edwards exactly, man!! All the time I've been listening to "Take Me To Church" I was thinking that I've heard it somewhere else.. smells like a bit of plagiarism.. but let's not be too dramatic,we're having two totally different songs, just similar chords.
verifiedcamophile right. But ita screwed up... how pharrell ti and robin thicke had to pay marvins greedy ass kids. While ed sherran climes the charts with that... leta get it on rip off... thats another story bro
***** you can't feel... Take me to church at 33 seconds in... If not you may lack the emotional ability to feeeeeeel the music. It's cool... Listening to tons of pop music caused me to loose that ability too but, i got out of that. I can feeeeeeel again... Lmao! Please Exscuse my thumbs tho... I get excited sometimes when texting and hit send before I proof read.
The beauty and magic of her music can be touched and felt best after some time, every now and then I remember some tune of her and come to listen and I feel how much she is unique
Kłodzko(Poland), 7.4.2020 r. Tekst piosenki jest dość mroczny... ale jestem pod ogromnym wrażeniem tego teledysku i podoba mi się też od strony muzycznej ten utwór. Puszczam to nieustannie od wczoraj na przemian z "My Moon My Man". Piosenka jest jakby odrobinę z kręgu muzyki celtyckiej i rocka... i te długie włosy pasują do obu tych gatunków.:) Gratuluję TALENTU i WRAŻLIWOŚCI. Jestem urzeczona i kompletnie zakręcona na punkcie tego teledysku.
Woopdeedoo. I see the resemblance between Take Me To Church's verse and this. Overlap actually happens pretty often in pop music. Chord progression have structures and it's not uncommon for different artists to stumble upon the same structures.
+Cédric Morier-Roy This is more than overlapping, there is a sense of melody being the same in both songs. Something that wouldn't just happen with structure being similar. Andrew Hoznier definitely listened to this song and maybe the melody grew in his head and gave birth to "Take me to church" - maybe it was by accident but that doesn't really matter. Both songs are great.
@@iphelper I tend to agree. Chilly Gonzales, the musical genius, stated initially: "It’s almost the exact same thing. That’s a crazy coincidence that my good friend and musical little sister Feist with her song ‘How Come You Never Go There’ had the exact same idea to use those chords and that slow triple time as Hozier. What are the chances?” He later apologised and retracted any implication of copyright infringement, probably because Hozier was threatening with legal action.
a language thats sunsets and flowers and smiley faces!! its sooo BEAUTIFUL... we just suck sometimes... when you stop being proper and start being mean... stupid... i came for Together Place
'You carry on as if our time is through, you carry on as if I don't LOVE you!' Reads like she is being cheated on, dude hasn't go the balls, to step-up and say it is over, and strings her along? The reasoning for saying she doesn't LOVE him, so he can feel better about what he is doing. So, this song would be alot different to the interpritations left in some posts to date? This song is in fact about? HEARTACHE :(
"How Come You Never Go There?" How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? I went up to a window Lightning banging on the cymbals I ripped into the night Came storm into your eyes My horse had worked the fields too long My bear had lost its innate calm It's true enough we're not at peace But peace is never what it seems Our love is not the light it was When I walk inside the dark I'm calm Where we look for where we went It's only echoes in the melody How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? We waste time on blame and weak revenge Waste energy and projections We're living proof, we gotta let go And stop looking through the halo We carry on as if our time is through You carry on as if I don't love you And so we find the way is out To cut the heart out of the doubt now The room's full but hearts are empty Like the letters never sent me Words are like a lasso You're an instrumental tune How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? How come you never go there? How come I'm so alone there? People, you do know there is another version, of this song available on TH-cam to view? She, is performing live, on LETTERMAN. It ROCKS ! It worth the view, to see the, CRAZY HUGE SAX ! And hear, it's sweet, phat SOUND ! If anyone, is having trouble, finding it? Please, checkout my Favorite's Playlist, it is the song, prior to this one.
how freaking awesome is this woman..this whole metals album is fantastic. good job on being awesome !! just taking on a darker and more intimate atmospher when she could of easily did what she did the first time around(which was still awesome), and it would of sold and it still would of been great. but uping your own self should always be the challenge and she just nailed it man
For the people comparing Take Me To Church and How Come You Never Go There... They are both great songs but, any Music Theory 1 student could write a song in triple meter using open chords. There's nothing in Hozier or Feist's songs that isn't common knowledge in music. There are so many artists in the world and only so many combinations of keys, meters, and notes. Something is bound to sound like something else but that doesn't make it stealing. By these standards every song has most likely been "stolen".
Brendon Mize Exactly! He wrote the whole thing in the attic. He also worked *with* Rob Kirwan putting the rest of the track together. You make it sound like a single vocal take was his only contribution to the song. I feel you have misunderstood what exactly producers do...
+Brendon Mize Yes it is, you imply that he only had the vocals. He did in fact have the song, live instrumentation was added in production replacing the rough demo tracks.
+Nancy Prescott I call bullshit. there's a tipping point where a "borrow" or "influence" becomes plagarism. The Hozier move is such. I recognized it immediately when it came out on Irish radio two years after Metals. For both songs the verse chords are very odd and unique, and the tempo / timing/3/3 beat is mental, both are a massive co-incidence to "have stumbled upon with no internet connection". Feck sake. Obviously the Hozier chorus is not a steal, but the verse *music* is. Absolutey.
Feist's, New Single ' How come you never go there', may be a departure, from her previous work? But, it is one, HEAVY DUTY step, in the right direction! how can you not hear the similarities in chord progression and vocal pattern? it's almost identical. and also, get the facts before you accuse feist of just trying to get publicity. feist never claimed it was plagiarism, never even said anything about it, never threatened to sue, nothing. some random writer wrote an article and made a video claiming that the 2 songs were very similar and that it appeared to be too similar for coincidence, especially considering hozier said he was a fan of feist in an interview. but right after the writer said all those things hozier immediately threatened to sue him for defamation of character. none of this seems a bit suspicious to you? I'm not saying he ripped the song off entirely, I'm just saying he was heavily influenced by it, didn't realize how similar they are, still refuses to admit this song was a huge influence, and he's a dick head for immediately threatening to sue a random guy for saying his song sounds like somebody else's song. especially since the verses in take me to church and the verses in this are fucking identical.
"As a music student" what a fuckin statement. You must be an authority on music! I remember taking a couple theory classes for shits in college and there were kids in the program in my classes who I couldn't believe we're music students. So much for that.
@gergenfonchen Both! =P But the reason I brought it up is because Feist and Mastodon are doing a colab. Feist is covering a Mastodon song, and Mastodon is covering a Feist song. IT'S GOING TO BE BRUTAL.......yet at the same time soothing.
Feist is talent personified. She is incomprehensibly beautiful and inspiring. I'm so grateful to be exposed to such sincere music.

It's been nearly 5 years since Metals was released, I'm dying for new feist
Yup.The new Feist didn't let her fans down.
Leslie Feist's voice sounds like an endearing embrace
Trust me when I say this... there is nothing more relieving than singing in the forest.
This song isn't long enough. It should be at least, an infinite loop.
A combination of intoxicating beauty, lovely mysterious eyes and angelic voice.
I adore this song by itself but something about the wind in the background of the video just makes it ethereal and a little bit more ominous.
BooksAndStuff mhm
The Kite Runner... read that...
A perfect midnight song so gorgeous
I love how the sound seems to come from the leaves
Heard this song for the first time today on the radio and I quickly looked it up. Such a good song.
Just listen, to that sweet, soulfull, voice of hers.
Could it be, any better?
I doubt it!
Can we stop with the comparing of inspiration and different artists and just appreciate one piece at a time? The lyrics and music speak, the video speaks...who cares.
Metals - Fantastic album!
my favourite song, it touches my heart in a way that I cannot explain...

KIDS . . . listen to all Her Music and then decide if She
is not a MAJOUR TALENT!!! in my top 10 of Canadian

The hair is just a "metaphore" for the idle time between The Reminder and Metals. Truly the best female singer nowdays.
Heard this song first on Later with Jools Holland 4 years back, and still a masterpiece!
Feist is just awesome, I love her old & new stuff :)
Can't wait to see her tour down-under next year, should be excellant !
Hozier's 'Take Me To Church' and this sound so similar. Both lovely melodies.
God I love this song, reminds me of such a dark ass time with my boyfriend.
same
she looks a lot like patti smith. esp in this vid! two radical ladies
Danica Coffman the exact thing I first noticed once I started watching
but how come it sounds most similar to amy winehouse?
That's not Feist.. it's the activist who lives in this forest. I forget her name
a language thats sunsets and flowers and smiley faces!! its sooo BEAUTIFUL... we just suck sometimes... when you stop being proper and start being mean... stupid... i came for Together Place
I love that song. Healing of the heart.
She has an amazing voice 🧡

I felt that verse too. When you realize that is the case, it’s time to move on.
I love the video clip to this song. It's like she's tuning into the nature's music. There is something almost mystical about it.
I love her!
My favorite song of hers by far
bill im 20 n I love this kind of melody. my friends say I got an old soul..... ha ha
same here!
"How Come You Never Go There?"
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
I went up to a window
Lightning banging on the cymbals
I ripped into the night
Came storm into your eyes
My horse had worked the fields too long
My bear had lost its innate calm
It's true enough we're not at peace
But peace is never what it seems
Our love is not the light it was
When I walk inside the dark I'm calm
Where we look for where we went
It's only echoes in the melody
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
We waste time on blame and weak revenge
Waste energy and projections
We're living proof, we gotta let go
And stop looking through the halo
We carry on as if our time is through
You carry on as if I don't love you
And so we find the way is out
To cut the heart out of the doubt now
The room's full but hearts are empty
Like the letters never sent me
Words are like a lasso
You're an instrumental tune
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
NyanNicole writ into the night*
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
I went up to your window
Lightly banging on the cymbals
A writ into the night
Came storming to your house
My horse had worked the fields too long
My bear had lost its innate calm
It's true enough for not at peace
But peace is never where the sea is
Our love is not the light it was
When I walk inside the dark I'm calm
Where we look for where we went
It's only echoes in the melody
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
We waste time on blame and weak revenge
Waste energy and rejections
We're living proof, we gotta let go
And stop looking through the halo
We carry on as if our time is through
You carry on as if I don't love you
And so we find the ways out
To cover hard I have a doubt, now
The room is full of eyes and empty
Like your letters never sent me
Words like a lasso
You're an instrumental tune
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
great musician, love it

Good taste to music brought me here.
I don't usually like slow songs, but I really like this one!!
It took me about 5 views before I noticed the ferns... Aya or "fern":
-symbol of endurance and resourcefulness
The fern is a hardy plant that can grow in difficult places. "An individual who wears this symbol suggests that he has endured many adversities and outlasted much difficulty."
This song means even more to me now
Apsolutely amazing...

This gave me musicgasm
Feist, The Last Air Bender
I Never Went There..!!! I Love This Song and her hair
@gergenfonchen Both! =P But the reason I brought it up is because Feist and Mastodon are doing a colab. Feist is covering a Mastodon song, and Mastodon is covering a Feist song. IT'S GOING TO BE BRUTAL.......yet at the same time soothing.
this song is great live. FeistVEVO
