They sell different length injection lines for the bench, as to have them all the same length! Had to bend them a little to match on the v- style pumps! Also took a spring and old valve that hooks on rack to keep the rack under pressure against the pin, makes it a lot easier to put the barrel and plungers in! Also if doing a complete rebuild take a maker to the center tooth so it is easy to see when looking down at the rack that it is centered with the line up pin on the cam follower! They also make a tool to help push down on the barrel and plunger to get the nut started! Also took and old top of barrel and plunger threaded put and braze it to and old nut to get the first barrel and plunger pushed down start that nut and tighten it, then use it to help get the rest push down!
I changed one of the o rings on top of the plunger that was leaking. The next day another one started to leak so I went to caterpillar and got all of them and replace them. A week later my diesel started mixing with oil. One of the plungers popped up while I was changing the o ring it was pretty dirty. I wonder should I change the timing spacers. It had me down 2 weeks trying to figure it out. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
The one with the longer Injector line is actually not longer. All mechanical fuel injection lines are actually the same length. Especially on this 3406b. The closer cylinders will have the line coiled.
Might have a lifter went down. Pull the cover off the side (two bolts) and see if the rack will move. I would have a plate to put over the intake just in case it runs away.
@@glencarlisle7710 I would send it out, you have to pin the pump, remove the fuel shut off solenoid so you can slide the rack back, then there is a special tool used to set the individual pumps in. It’s been so long since I done it I would probably mess it up, and you can mess it up and the pump stick to full throttle lol
