HongKi has a voice that is one of my top 5 to listen to. The first time I heard Severely I cried. His raspy voice talking or singing is hands down the best.

me too, first time i hear his voice at 2010 or 2011... it"s very unique, and as like you i could recognize his voice every time i hear hongki sing (at the time i'm not fan, and i rare hear kpop) but in 2017, first time i watch ft island song "pray"... and yess i be a fan of ft island. after that i often watch their live performance... wow... their good... and hongki vocal... so unique and powerfull... his voice one of the best in korean... not doubt about that... Kcon Paris 2016 can be a proof

He has something a few people have, since he is an actor he can tap into those emotions when he sings emotional songs, he gets like that with all the sad songs even the ones he writes even if he is happy, it is a skill few people poses and I wish I had.
I wonder if it was really Jaejin that argue about Hongki being the vocalist of FT Island considering back during their rookie/debut days, it was former member Oh Wonbin which was the second vocalist next to Hongki. Jaejin became the second vocalist only after Wonbin depart from the band (and was replaced by Seunghyun). Well, whoever the supposed-to-be-main vocalist was, Hongki was meant to be the face of FTIsland and he is undeniably one of the best vocalist in Kpop industry 😘
Pri3 JaeJin said it in an interview for the DVD of their 4th anniversary, he told the same story and mentioned the same song I have been looking for Hongki's version since he mentioned it and then JJ repeated the comment when HongKi had his accident during the drama Bride of the Century, he posted it on his instagram, I looked for this song and there has never been a version till today when HongKi repeated the story so it must be truth.
Pri3 I tried to find it to link it but I can't, it was a really old interview and he says it, I remember they are talking about how they all started and I heard the name of this song, I will keep on searching and post the link when I find it, I know it is there I just can't find it, all their interviews get bury because they are not popular and they are old interviews, it was the same thing with the one when they tricked Hong Ki and Jonhoon about a fight and someone hit Minhwan and Hongki got really upset to almost fight with Seunhyun or Jaejin and it was just a prank, it took me a while to find it but I did and I download it to my pc so I wouldn't lose it again. I have been a fan since before you're beautiful way before so I have stalked them I mean followed them all over youtube, I have in my pc about 300 clips of concerts and stuff they did from all over since their first concerts when Oh Won Bin was in the group.
