To the point. Highly instructive. Cent percent honest. I was about to buy a chromatic harmonica but now I'd buy diatonic just because of this farsighted review.

I used to play 24 hole harmonica. Now I have started playing Hindi songs in 10 holes HA 20 diatonic harmonica. As you have mentioned, it requires a lot of practice to play hindi songs by bending the notes. I am trying to master it.

The thing is I LOVE BOTH... I am playing on a basic 24 holes chromatic harmonica at the moment. But gradually will promote myself to 12 holes chromatic... And then a good DIATONIC... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO..!!!

Some of other differences which you can cover in another episode (a) the chords that we can play on diatonic vs the chords we can play on chromatic - though both have limitations (b) challenges in octave playing on diatonic because of it's notes layout (c) one extra critical component to manage on chromatic harmonica in self maintenance /care - "VALVES"

WOW!! When I wanted to learn Chromatic someone advised me to throw away all my Diatonics. However, I wish all Bollywood songs could be played on a Diatonic as easily as in Chromatic.
@@asen80gmailcom I who have no idea of music notations and can churn out some tunes on a Diatonic Harp feel frustrated when I can't play all that are played on a Chromatic Harp.

Sir I am playing 24 X 2 holes harmonica without slider comfortably. I don't know the difference between 10 holes, 12 holes & 16 holes chromatic harmonica. I have to purchase chromatic harmonica which should I go for?

Kudos for the very useful information you have shared, Sir. Could you as well consider comparing a 10 holes (40 tones) or 12 holes (48 tones) chromatic with a 24 holes one (still 48 tones only). I should think playing single, clean notes on a 10 or 12 holes harmonica would be some hard work or even daunting as compared to achieving similar result on a chromatic with 24 holes producing 48 tones! I'd love your take on this aspect. Thanks.
I may mention that currently I'm pursuing diatonic harmonica with different keys, but a beginner yet! I want to be able to play chromatic harmonica as well, and am divided choosing between a 'diatonic size' 10/12 hole chromatic and a larger (and probably more convenient 24 hole one! Please help to guide me and players like me. Thanks. 🙂
Thank you for the topic suggestion. It is actually not very difficult to adapt to a 12/10 holer if you are used to a 24 holer. Just takes some getting used to 😊 Many people do it when they graduate from a Tower to a 12 holer 😊 No big deal.
@Sunil If you tend towards diatonic harmonica learning, the base knowledge must be cleared out, the technical parts of learning to get the correct note out of the harmonica. I suggest learning step by step slowly. Ear training is always important for both types of harmonica.
Thank you and please consider sharing the video. Also to your question, the technique should be no different than standard. However, Silver Star is not worth to learn on, probably. Airy and stiff to my opinion, makes bending harder. Haven't played Easy Rider though. So no specific comments.

Silver Star is pretty crappy. Go for a Folkmaster or Big River at least.

If you are on budget, get a Tower - pretty good starter harmonica. Else you may start with an Easttop or Swan 12-holer.
Ultimately, most good chromatics are 12/16 holers, except Hohner 260 may be, that's a 10 holer.
