  • Time-Lapse Recorded on 2021-09-24 and 2021-09-25. The 'down' crossing from the Lancaster Canal to Tarleton was postponed by one day due to unsettled weather conditions. We moored overnight with narrowboats, Oyster and Lili Pad on the floating pontoons at the topside of lock 8 on the Ribble Link. The following morning, the lock keepers let us through to the pontoon on the south side of the Blackpool Road bridge, where we were to be joined by a further six boats. However for reasons unknown, only four more boats arrived, Evening Star, Katherine, Molly and one other.
When the rotating sea lock opened, a sudden water movement caused the outer boats of the flotilla to surge forwards. To reduce the tension in the ropes and stabilise the pack, several boats needed to apply reverse thrust. The revving of engines led to some confusion among the waiting boaters that the signal to leave the pontoon had been given. The official signal to leave came moments later.
The audio is a song named Scrap Book by Silent Partner from the TH-cam audio library. The weather forecast was transcribed from VHF on 2021-09-25 10:30:00 BST and adapted for the video. It can be viewed in text form by enabling the video subtitles/captions.
