    Nice review guys. I remember when 300 watt power supplies were all the rage. I'm okay with ketchup and mustard cables. As long as the P/S does what I need it to do. Thanks for sharing Mike and Lady Kath. Take care everyone. Cheers

      yeah in the early 2000's 230 -300w was the norm

    I bought that power supply in 2018 to power a gtx 1050ti + I5 6500. It worked great until I upgraded in 2021. That pc was gifted to my mother and the power supply still works without problems.

      yeah that is what i am talking about, too much fear mongering going on. Buy with confidence but understand the power limits

    The last and only Gamemax psu I bought was a modular 700w.. It was inexpensive at the time and was going to power a computer that was running fine with an old 650w Corsair psu. To make a short story, the psu burned it's gpu connector inside my rx 6700xt own connectors that survived the adventure but being slightly deformed. Since it was under warranty, I asked gamemax if they could do something about that and they sent me a link to buy a new cable on Aliexpress for 17$cad 😅
    Instead, I bought new connectors for the 6700xt and I'll change them when I'll have time.
    That psu is now serving as spare psu for low power computer and may end up in a case to use as a power source for my projects. I could put this one in low power computer with integrated gpu, but the current market is absolutely insane in the itx form factor.. 🙄

      sorry to hear that happened. seems Gamemax have a very wide range of psu's from half decent to downright scary

    A htpc may use this gamemax psu quite happily. I am putting an itx build together and used prices are balmy enough so if this had 500w option i would seriously consider it. £12 is a bargain even if as you stated, use it for testing mb / cpu purchases. Thanks Mike and Kath as always🐈👍

      shame the 500w or 600w versions are not available at low prices

    I have a FSP version in a small PC build running a mini itx 1155 system with just integrated graphics. I use it for just general browsing and watching TH-cam really. Will probably take a look at one. 😅

    I picked up a thermal right, 650w platinum sfx psu. Seems good so far.
    650W Thermalright TPFX-650 Platinum Modular SFX PSU
    A lot more than 12 quid though

      i didn't realise thermalright did PSU as well! OMG

    • @oldmanwithers4565

      @mikesunboxing I didn't either until I saw them on pc part picker. I thought as they're cheapish and thermalright make decent coolers I would give one a punt.
      I ordered from computer orbit, had never used them before, psu arrived next day and so far it's been good.

    One never knows if a low priced item is a bargain or not until someone looks it over or tests it.,even some higher priced tech has been known to fail quite dramatically so price is never a guaranteed sign of quality. That said Id be ok matching it with similar priced equipment or older retro stuff, where the power draw if around half the max output listed but averse to trusting it with equipment which is substantially more in value.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yes exactly, use with a low end APU or something bus powered, no problems

    Mike, I like the idea of why you did this, but to be honest I feel you should have thoroughly tested this supply and if you can't do that, left it alone. It could be a risk for a novice builder. Thats a personal opinion I know, and you have made it clear that you can't vouch for it, but cheap PSU's can cause fire's.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i get you, but even if i had the equipment to validate the claims i would really need to test a number of random samples from different sites to rule out any outliers.
      This is a 250w - 300w PSU if someone watches this video after my clear instructions NOT to use it for anything decent, then IF it does catch on fire, then that is on them.
      I am trying to show peolpe there are bargains to be had out there, but know what you are buying

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      neither really, i did explain the reason in the video, for very low TDP or APU systems this for £12 is unbeatable. The thing is you have to be aware of what it is and what it can be expected to do. For a 12400 or 5600g it is more than capable
