Plan your trip carefully. College football starts at the end of August normally. Since you're talking about going to Texas. The Texas State Fair is September 27th. That usually coincides with the Texas vs Oklahoma football. So you can get some college football and the Texas state fair in the same weekend.
I went to the UT vs. OU game at the fairgrounds one time. Amazing experience. Though, the Cotton Bowl stadium was uncomfortable in terms of seating. But that was over 20 years ago, so maybe they’ve renovated.
There is no atmosphere on earth like a high profile college football game. It’s absolutely electric. The season is from early September until late November for the regular season.
I’m not an Iowa fan by any means. But I have major respect for their tradition to let the kids at the hospital know that they support them and are there with them. Major respect to the Hawkeyes ❤
It's actually a fairly recent tradition. The Stead Family Children's Hospital opened in 2017. A little remembered fact: The original plans for the pediatric hospital included the demolition of Kinnick Stadium (which had recently undergone an extensive renovation) and building a new stadium off campus. The student body, alumni and donors revolted and UIHC was forced to scale back the plans. Instead they demolished an old parking structure.
The army navy game is my favorite game of all when Westpoint and the Naval Academy face off their intro videos they release every year on my favorite traditions to watch with my family. Our great grandfather is Westpoint graduate and served during World War II.
Correct.....and no matter what kind of season the two teams are having (bad, good or mediocre) the faithful travel from all over the country for the Army/Navy showdown.
The college games, comprising 12 regular season games, start early September and run through November and then the "Bowl" or Championship games begin and run through December with a few games on New Years Day. College is a lot more fun than professional and most of the stadiums do sell beer.
Now you have to watch a cheerleading competition. Has Kat seen any of the marching band videos? If not, she needs to see that too. Congrats on the win, Garin! If hockey wasn't aggressive at some point, it wouldn't be hockey, LOL!
Great video, guys. I love your enthusiasm for life in general and for _our_ enthusiasm, too. You folks make it more interesting to see our own country through your eyes because we are able to see some of the good things about our nation and our people. Through you, we see our patriotism, our openness and welcoming spirit, our love of life and our friendliness toward others. So thank you for that.
The Iowa college is not just a college it's one of the greatest medical schools in the world. The place is huge I go up there so they can try to treat a genetic disorder I have. I'm in my 40s and I'd be dead already if not for them.
If you visit the Smoky Mountains National Park in October you can easily get a shuttle bus from your lodging near the Park to a Vols game in Knoxville.
You should do a video on the largest American college football stadiums. Eight of the ten largest stadiums in the world are American college football stadiums, seating more than 100,000 people - and they fill up. The White Out game gets more than 110,000 people in attendance. When they jump to “Jump Around,” it creates a small earthquake in the area. Many of our college football stadiums are bigger than other countries’ national stadiums, Olympic stadiums, and even the NFL (professional) stadiums. Our high school sports teams get big crowds, especially football.
At 4:51, I am a Wisconsin fan so that is called Jump Around at every Badger home game in the 4th quarter that music starts playing and the whole place is bouncing, you should go to experience the true Wisconsin football, which is drinking beer, eating cheese, and just brutal smash mouth football , hope y,all go and ON WISCONSIN.
The one with all the fans in red jumping around at 4:53 is the University of Wisconsin Badgers in Madison WI which is where I live. It is insane. The entire stadium shakes. They actually had to have structural engineers come in when they first introduced it to make sure the stadium could handle it.
So glad to hear your boy having the passion & appreciation for big crowds. And he plays hockey!!! Hell yeah brother. Hope to see him on my team’s power play in the coming years. Also a beautiful reaction video for a whole family to learn about a great part of our culture. Let it rip, fam!
1:53 - I was at that game between Tennessee and Oklahoma. That stadium of over 102,000 people set the decibel record in the stadium that night. You couldn't hear yourself think, and the entire stadium had your body vibrating. If you're planning to come in October, I highly recommend you try to get tickets to the Tennessee/Alabama game. It's an intense rivalry that has been going on for a century, and this year promises to be one of the more important games in recent history. If you want a taste of what's possible, look up the 2022 game and the aftermath. The tickets will be expensive, but you will never forget a night in Neyland Stadium like that. The crowd will be nuts, and the stakes are likely to be high for both teams midway through the season.
Lifelong Iowan born and raised, lifelong Hawkeye fan (Go Hawx!). Waving at the children's hospital is one of my favorite things about going to the games now. I'm not crying, you're crying! What makes college football even more mind blowing is how many fans travel between states to watch their team play. The farthest I have traveled to see my team play was 244 miles (392 km). I have lived in Texas for 23 years now but will never stop cheering for my Missouri Tigers. M-I-Z
So many of the college stadiums hold close to or over 100,000 seats... it's amazing! I live one hour from the Columbus, OH Buckeyes Stadium, GO BUCKEYES!!! my friend!
3:27 As an Alabama Alumni, we call this Saturday! ROLL TIDE!!! No one has mentioned the tailgating which starts on Friday. Then you wake up at 6 am on the front lawn of your housing after an all nighter, hit the keg, go to the tailgate and get fed by the alumni. klolaches, breakfast tacos, and a breakfast "beer". We called this "eggs and kegs". You had to wake at 6 am especially for an 11 am game if you were going to drink all day. Also 5:02 the jump actually registers as a small earthquake on the Richter scale. It's so fun!
Life long Iowa resident and Iowa fan. Was there for the First Wave. A new tradition but one that will last and last. Even had family that was in the hospital to get the wave from us fans.
The biggest college football stadiums are bigger than the professional teams' stadiums. College football in the U.S. is older than the pro game, so the traditions go back much longer. Also, only the larger cities have professional teams, but big universities all over the country have teams, even in rural areas, so the college game is much more widespread. The major college conferences have huge broadcasting contracts and apparel deals, etc. People tend to be more loyal to their universities than to their city teams in many cases. This is especially true across the South and much of the Midwest.
1. Y’all might be the most wholesome family EVER!! 2. I’ve been to the grove in Oxford, Mississippi and people set up and start tailgating the night before 3. I went to military school for high school and every student was required to go to them. I can’t tell you the rush it feels playing in front of a thousand people so I can only imagine what it’s like in the huge stadiums!
As Kentucky fan going to Kroger field and when they start playing my old Kentucky home it brings tears to your eyes. Plus them cowbells at Mississippi state are the most annoying thing ever
Almost all of our violence takes place on the field (except occasional beer muscle fights that occur between drunk knuckleheads. There's plenty there. No point in fighting opposing fans as they aren't going to change their minds and besides, it takes away from the fun you have at these games.

The script Ohio is a big tradition for Ohio State. Also, one of the senior or most senior tuba players gets to dot the "i" at the end. My band director in high school attended Ohio State and was able to dot the "i" twice his senior year. It was a big deal for him.

Garron lose the Hat.. ohio state losers... GO BLUE MICHIGAN ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS.... Plus WE HAVE THE 3RD LARGEST STADIUM IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Yes, in Michigan you can enjoy a beer...
It’s so much fun at the games. There’s a lot of foreign students going to school here in the states I’m not sure they contact for info but I’ve seen where some programs get the foreign students into schools and places to live while they’re going to schools in the states.
American college football starts at the end of August. There’s a number of amazing traditions. Virginia Tech, Clemson, Ohio State and Tennessee are some of the universities I have visited to watch games at. If you’ll make it over here you will have a great time wherever you go to see game
When I took a couple of seminars at the University of Florida, it was deliberately scheduled for when the Gators were away, and there was *still* no parking in Gainesville...
A big time college game day experience is 100x better than any NFL experience. There are tons to choose from. A great one is LSU in Death Valley at night and then u have New Orleans to hang out in before/after……with in my opinion the best food and music in the USA. And this is coming from a Los Angeles dude. Go to LSU!
Every weekend all around the country all season which is generally the 1st weekend in September through January’s bowl games and ending with the National Championship!
Appreciate the great content from you and the fam. When you come over the pond, you need to pick what sport or sports rivalries you want to experience. European football isn't huge here obv, but American Football is. College is better than NFL if you're wanting crazy fans and the high excitement level. You can never go wrong with a Clemson or an Alabama game, even better if it's a Clemson vs Alabama game. College basketball has to be a UNC or a Duke game, best if it's Duke vs UNC game. The student's camp outside the arena at Duke the night before, wearing full body paint/face-paint. It's wild to see lol. I'm not big into baseball, so I can't comment on that. If you want pro basketball, the Lakers, Warriors, Knicks or Celtics have great arenas/history, but the biggest rivalry is Lakers vs Celtics since 1959. MLB is Yankees vs Red Sox 100%. NFL is Steelers vs Ravens. You and the fam just have to pick what you want to see on that trip.
Country Roads, Take Me Home, West Virginia! WVU is where I went to college! And West Virginia is my home state where I was born and raised, then went to medical school, became a doctor, and moved to South Carolina.
Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr. Wrote and sang the Country Roads. The song was first sang by John in 1971. It has been a smash hit all the way to today. One of the most beautiful times I saw played was when the NFL went to Germany. The Germans sang it and it was so wholesome.
I don’t know about the majority of Stadiums but I know that the Big names have around 85,000+ seats my VOLS the Orange team with the giant white T has a stadium called Neyland Stadium and has over 100,000 seats and it’s a stadium known for its noise we call it Neyland Loud where it’s on avg 100 dBs and it has peaked at 134 dBs and it’s because it’s built upward unlike most stadium where it’s elongated and the reason why is to keep the noise in the stadium and yes the noise makes it hard for opposing teams to hear and makes plays
If possible, check out the Florida/Georgia game It's played in Jacksonville Florida instead of one of the schools. A neutral site. The pre-game party starts 3 to 4 days before the game. It's known as the "World's Largest Cocktail Party".
The students in military-looking attire on the field are usually our college ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps.) Students who want to join the military get trained as Cadets while going to school, then once they graduate college, they become officers in our military. If they are wearing similar type attire, but are holding instruments, they are likely the school band. Some can be both!
Oklahoma state has the biggest college football homecoming celebration (where former grads and family of students) come for the home game.. it’s wild the whole college town becomes PACKED with drunk humans seeing the giant paper mache murals and parade
Don’t forget if you guys come to the states during college football season and plan on a game. Get to the game really early bc the tailgating experience is half of the enjoyment! You will meet so many great people eager to invite you in enjoy good food and a good time. We’d love to have you in Athens on a Saturday! Go Dawgs!!!
If you can get to the United States during the autumn months, and October in particular, then I highly recommend seeing a game at one of the Southeastern Conference schools like Alabama, Georgia, and Ole Miss especially - is a very special and uniquely American experience
An Alabama - Auburn game, the World's Largest Cocktail Party (Florida - Georgia), a game at the swamp (a Florida Gator game), a Michigan - Ohio State game or two of the oldest college football games - Lehigh - Lafayette (a small college rivalry dating back to the 1880s) or THE GAME (Yale - Harvard, third oldest rivalry game, second oldest is Princeton - Yale). Yale Bowl is one of the oldest stadiums in college football and when it opened it was the biggest stadium in the world. Oh yes, Yale has more National championships in college football than any colleges.
I live in a major university city...actually just walking distance from the college stadium. It's just best to leave town when some of the unversities come to town, i.e. Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa.
Yeah home games are fun! The whole point is to be as loud as possible when the opponent is on offense to disrupt them. At Baylor, we put the student section on the visitors side, with the freshman in the very front since they're the most excited. That's why everyone says its embarrassing to lose at home since it's a huge advantage.
Rival week can be some intense games.. the best team is Tennessee Vols lol Go Vols! It neat being on the Vol Walk and watch the Power "T" open and hearing the crowded sing "good ole rockytop"
Well done! There are some amazing traditions at just about every major college and university in America. Don't feel bad about moving off to school either. I was raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia (on the East Coast). I attended schools elsewhere around the country and was granted three internships for NASA. I now live and work in the Silicon Valley on the West Coast. Although the U.S. stretches across a continent (and even into Hawaii), it doesn't feel quite so "international" because it only takes a flight or road trip to travel. During college, I would go home for the holidays. I would drive for 25 hours (at 70 miles per hour) non-stop to get home. Those were great ways to see different states on a road trip home. By the way, your family would make GREAT Americans. You could all move here and I think that you would feel very welcome!
Alabama’s coach just retired. Look up the field was named after him and the 1st home game felt so powerful. All the traditions without him. I don’t even like college football but I almost cried
Another team that also has a children hospital where where they can watch the game and our players wave at them before getting ready for the game. WVU Mountaineers.
The jump around for the Wisconsin Badgers is a must - The upper deck shakes from everyone jumping - this video did not show nearly enough including how the other team joins in
Historically, there was no drinking permitted in the college stadiums, or anywhere on campus, for that matter. Tailgating took place cleverly just feet away from the campus border. But schools have come around and many permit beer sales inside, and most permit some kind of game day exception to campus drinking rules outside the stadiums.
If you want to follow Texas university sports, it's University of Texas in Austin, Baylor University, Texas A&M University in College Station, University of Houston, Texas Tech, and a few more. All these schools will fill stadiums.
If you're traveling in Texas on the weekend during football season you do want to pay attention to college football schedules. A home game with even a moderate sized school will create heavy traffic, hotel room shortages, parking problems and long lines at popular bars and restaurants. High school and college football is a religion down here. Seeing a Texas A&M game is an experience. Some years ago, my folks were visiting from back east and wanted to go to a museum in College Station during an Aggie game. I didn't think Bryan/College Station could have that much traffic. We were there the night before. There were acres of RV parking, filled to the rim. I think every Aggie with a heartbeat -- and a bunch that didn't have one -- were deep in pre-game partying. I drove halfway through the town, following an A&M flag draped RV towing a 10 ft long smoker and a big pile of mesquite. The Aggie's have more rituals than just about any other school in the US. And you fail to respect these at your own risk. (In the interest of fair disclosure, I got one of my degrees at a school whose marching band was taken hostage by Aggie fans.)
The Met Life NFL stadium in New York is the largest regular capacity stadium at 82,500 seats. There are 14 college football stadiums that are larger. Eight stadiums exceed 100,000 seats. If you go to a college game, you may want to pack some hearing protection.
College Football has a lot of great traditions. The Marching Buckeyes (Ohio State's Marching Band) spelling out Ohio is one, Penn State's White Out and the University of Tennessee Orange Navy. The Tennessee fans can boat to the stadium, since it is on the Tennessee River. Even some of the small colleges have traditions. The Game (the rivalry game between Yale and Harvard) might have some history. Garren want to study NHL in college. One of the best college leagues is the Hockey East. Great schools, including University of Connecticut, and the campus is wonderful. Oh, Garren, what position do you play?
Check out the West Virginia-Notre Dame game where Metallica is on the Jumbotron and supporting the West Virginia Team. For more mind blowing sights, check out the Allen, Texas High School Football Stadium! The marching band has 600 members on the field at halftime! The Ohio State Marching Band has special guests to "dot the i" in their "OHIO" formation. They were helping an old man on to the field to "dot the i". The students in overalls were the Texas A&M University Yell Leaders. The school has the Aggie Corps and those students become US military officers. Check out the Texas A&M marching band with their military uniforms. A tradition at A&M is whenever A&M scores, you kiss your girlfriend!
The only thing better at an NFL game is really the tailgating. Even teams not doing that well have great tailgating party. College games do everything else better. And it is good talent & game play. You would also be surprised about high school level games. About Leah's age & older.
In the State Of Georgia our Dawgs always draw huge crowds. Even all those years we did not win a National Championship The tail gating is something to behold. Oh and our mascot is a real life Bulldog from Sonny Seiler's family in Savannah Georgia.

@@jamesleyda365... of course what is "family friendly" is always evolving 😛

Here in America, professional football is a sport. College football is a religion.
Yup well said
Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
In Texas, all football is a religion.
The uniformed students on the field during "Enter Sandman" are the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets, not the band.
Congrats Garin! They were not aggressive enough. It was cool seeing Kat and Jono singing Sweet Caroline that was awesome. Peace from Central Texas.

It’s so much fun at the games. There’s a lot of foreign students going to school here in the states I’m not sure they contact for info but I’ve seen where some programs get the foreign students into schools and places to live while they’re going to schools in the states.
Seeing it live in person. You think you got goosebumps now lol. When you can feel the electricity of the whole crowd man nothing like it
Watch “Virginia Tech vs Notre Dame Enter Sandman.” As a college football fan, this was honestly one of the most insane atmospheres I’ve seen.
There are over 150 universities in US with hockey teams.
Great video. Congratulations on the win. Hope to catch y’all live soon.
American college football starts at the end of August. There’s a number of amazing traditions. Virginia Tech, Clemson, Ohio State and Tennessee are some of the universities I have visited to watch games at. If you’ll make it over here you will have a great time wherever you go to see game
Great video, love how excited you guys get. I’m just used to all this crazy.
Hey! Great to see that you've added a crowd funding page!! (Up above.) Hopefully that will fill up fast.
When I took a couple of seminars at the University of Florida, it was deliberately scheduled for when the Gators were away, and there was *still* no parking in Gainesville...
"The Wave" was created at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Go Huskies!🤘
No that's a Mexican thing

ROLL DAMN TIDE
if you ever do come over. make sure you do Tennessee and Clemson. The have the best traditions.
Much respect to the kid with Ohio state gear he was raised right!!
Go Bucks! ❤
O-H!!
With the Penn State game, the stadium holds over 100,000 people and the game shown here, is referred to, as the White Out game!!
Need to check out army vs navy collage football
I'm from Tennessee! We got the brisket and football in fall! That is cool you were watching our college football!
This was the best watching your kids react.. come, have a stay!!
Country Roads, Take Me Home, West Virginia! WVU is where I went to college! And West Virginia is my home state where I was born and raised, then went to medical school, became a doctor, and moved to South Carolina.
Should hear when WVU plays Pitt, When they sing their song all the WVU guys say Eat Shit Pitt 😂
I love watching these.
There really is nothing like college football.
Loving the kids OSU hat!
Go Bucks!!
If possible, check out the Florida/Georgia game
It's played in Jacksonville Florida instead of one of the schools. A neutral site.
The pre-game party starts 3 to 4 days before the game. It's known as the "World's Largest Cocktail Party".
College football is better than NFL in my opinion 😊 In the southern US it's almost a religion...Go Dawgs ❤
WOOF! ❤
Go DAWGS
We might have the college traditions as the Midwest or the south, but Northeastern football is fine. Go Huskies!!!
War Eagle
Very true, except the Dawgs part.
You need to go to Tennessee to watch the University of Tennessee football in Knoxville and catch a Predators NHL game in Nashville
On point with the introduction! Enjoying the family reactions!!
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE WIN Garren!
Love your family and all your videos keep up the amazing work
Check out the university of Michigan
The students in military-looking attire on the field are usually our college ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps.) Students who want to join the military get trained as Cadets while going to school, then once they graduate college, they become officers in our military. If they are wearing similar type attire, but are holding instruments, they are likely the school band. Some can be both!
Oklahoma state has the biggest college football homecoming celebration (where former grads and family of students) come for the home game.. it’s wild the whole college town becomes PACKED with drunk humans seeing the giant paper mache murals and parade
@@CDavis-km3br couldnt agree more with that! T Boone will forever be on the stadium in name at least
Don’t forget if you guys come to the states during college football season and plan on a game. Get to the game really early bc the tailgating experience is half of the enjoyment!
You will meet so many great people eager to invite you in enjoy good food and a good time.
We’d love to have you in Athens on a Saturday! Go Dawgs!!!
I'm a Michigan fan. It hurts to see the kid wear the colors of evil incarnate.
College football Fandom usually is carried by family and region.
I'm from Ohio ... Cleveland Ohio but you guys GOTTA WATCH VIRGINIA TECH'S....ENTER THE SANDMAN.....BY far the best entrance of all of college football
I live in a major university city...actually just walking distance from the college stadium. It's just best to leave town when some of the unversities come to town, i.e. Oklahoma, Nebraska, Iowa.
Even my local 18 and under hockey teams (in the south of the U.S.) have a lot of ppl show up!
Then the Tide comes rollin in
Baylor also plays a special song after the 3rd quarter called Word Up. Everyone dances and the tubas go into the stands.
Alabama’s coach just retired. Look up the field was named after him and the 1st home game felt so powerful. All the traditions without him. I don’t even like college football but I almost cried
you guys should come to a penn state hockey game!
Another team that also has a children hospital where where they can watch the game and our players wave at them before getting ready for the game. WVU Mountaineers.
I love this family & no doubt they would be great friends to me. Kat, you're a wonderful spokesperson & I encourage you to express your opinions 😊
Take a look at the Ohio State University marching band.
The Met Life NFL stadium in New York is the largest regular capacity stadium at 82,500 seats. There are 14 college football stadiums that are larger. Eight stadiums exceed 100,000 seats. If you go to a college game, you may want to pack some hearing protection.
You are wearing the correct hat young man.OHIO STATE!
Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Alabama, and Michigan all have stadiums that seat over 100,000.
Lol, she'd probably do well at the University of Kentucky in their equine studies program
In the State Of Georgia our Dawgs always draw huge crowds. Even all those years we did not win a National Championship The tail gating is something to behold. Oh and our mascot is a real life Bulldog from Sonny Seiler's family in Savannah Georgia.
HOOK’EM HORNS!! 🤘🏼
