    This pays tribute to a multitude of history to which some may never be familiar/acclamated/etc. This pays big respect to many of the giants upon whose shoulders some of us will always stand with honor and humility....whether we want to say so or not..... Ornette Coleman, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Sun Ra, Trane.....I will be here all of eternity going through names......
    I LOVE IT......SO VERY MUCH.....

    This isn't pop and its not a single, defined groove. Its very high musicality and musicianship from these guys, a real treat. I guess musicians will get this and those who don't play less likely to get it.

  • @jesselondon72
    @jesselondon72 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @therealJodan this is a jam bro, not your favourite radio songs you might sing along to in the car. The playing on this clip is sublime. You don't have to get it, and its great you are honest that you don't. For me, I learn so much every time I see this lineup play together. This music is supposed to stir you up, take you out of the comfort zone...dump you back n it...and just as it settles...they're off on another tangent. All these cats are modern day pioneers.

    @Dubwise4u it was meant to be made hip hop fusion of Jazz. They made it a J Dilla fill. if you want to hear Chris Dave Swing get a Mint Condition album and go get Casino Lights DVD when Chris Dave played with Kenny Garrett and Robert Glasper can swing too.

    I don't have to "get" everything. If I don't "get" it, and therefore don't like it, that's fine. People don't have to like everything. Don't hate on them for not liking something that you do like..sometimes the simplest songs are the one that get you the most. And sometimes the most technically brilliant and flawless just don't.

    It's just an impromptu jam session that spawned interest. You don't really have to get it. If you buy any of Robert Glasper's albums you'd see his creativity AND his adherence to jazz standards are mind blowing. This guy is just playing music. When I was in my old band, we did stuff like this all the time. Enjoy or just don't. Either way, this session is very good for students of music.

    @jesselondon72 Yup, this is the same thing Miles Davis did with his '2nd Great Quintet' (Hancock, Carter, Shorter, Williams). They played with their ears and hearts open, and were equally inspired by each other.
    It's just as improvisational - the only thing different is the groove. Hearing this tight-ass dope shit makes me proud to be an American.

    @steve007ed Yea there only 4 notes, but the feel, and the experiments they're doing behind those 4 notes is what makes it impressive. Simplicity can be impressive, and It wouldent matter if there were 4 or 10 notes, it just FEELS good.

    why are ppl sooo obsessed with " groove " when u get into a certain level of musicianship " groove " can be interpreted in higher forms, not one flowing motion but many in one. But, you hav to be able to hear it. Not everyone can thats why they suck lol. This is brilliant sonic chaos by talented musicians. it would be too easy & boring for them to simplify the groove for baser comprehension.
