Excellent video! I’m fixing a dry stone wall and adding on to it. Your techniques are a revelation. Thank you!

    Very well done, looking good!
You could use the stones to make images in the wall, kinda like mosaic.

As i was taught , try and look at the stones as squarez , and triangles.
Squares together , triangles together when a young apprentice i was .
1982 with my uncles . Sadly they are gone , nd im not building any longer .But you are , and as i see it you are doing nicely. Continue as you have, nd it will never be a boring job .
Thanks for the posts nd memories.

Couple questions from a prospective stone wall builder here...
    1. Hoping to replace my yard fence with a free-standing stone wall at some point. What advice do you have for the type of foundation or ground prep I should lay prior?
    2. I'm looking at a 6' above grade height of the wall. As a freestanding wall, would it entail having TWO faces with a "backing" fill between? Or would it be better for two faces back-to-back.
    3. Advice on thickness of the wall for a 6' tall height for stability?
    4. Is there any need for corner "pillars" or "towers" with this style of natural stone wall?
Super appreciate the input! Thanks a ton for the videos.

Newbie here. Can you use 3/4” drainage gravel along with chunks of concrete and mortar to build up the backing?

Hey I wouldn’t use drainage gravel as an actual part of the backing. Just mortar and chunks of concrete or rock. Then the drainage gravel would be used behind the wall after as part of your drainage system
