It's like watching a rough, precious diamond just begging to be polish to sparkling perfection! All the elements are there. All they need - especially Lopatkina - is to be properly coached by someone who truly undersands the Balanchine style. The clarity, sharpness, musicality: dancing ON the music. Just thinking on what the great Suzanne Farrell could have done with them if they were in her hands - OH MY GOD!! What was just a very good performance could have easily turned into a superb one.
I much prefer Daria Pavlenko in this. She’s the only Russian ballerina who seems to get Diamonds. I even prefer Agnes Letestu over Lopatkina and certainly, none of these ballerinas I’ve mentioned can erase my memories of Darci Kistler in this role. What Lopatkina needed before performing this role was some serious coaching, particularly in matters of Balanchine style, clarity and speed of footwork. She misses a lot of high points in the choreography.
I really dissagree with your oppinion. If you know that Balanchine cared music more than anything, you would know how Lopatkina was amazing.Balanchine style is not always just fast foot work, specially in this ballet work, an hommage of Marius Petipa.
Ульяна божественна!🧚♂️
I think Balanchine, whose real last name is Balanchivadze would be very happy with this dance. I think it's pure perfection. She is divine.
i just think her dances like an angel

Lopatkina, as beautiful as she is, doesn't have the speed, doesn't connect with Igor and seems to be playing the part of being a great ballerina.
S Mc she is not playing the part SHE IS a GREAT ballerina.
