- Manila is an exciting, vibrant city in the Philippines. We had the chance to visit one of the best barbers in the world at his barber house. Lars is truly a one-of-a-kind barber. He calls his shop a barber house because he lives there too and it has the comfort of a home. His buddies were hanging out watching TV while we were there. The music was blasting ‘80s Westcoast hip-hop which matched his vibe and persona perfectly. He had a ton of pride in making sure it was perfect, constantly moving from side to side, measuring and adjusting. His humor and demeanor made the visit so much fun as we joked about American culture and got to know more about the Filipino ways. His love for his country and his neighborhood were passionate. Hardworking and creative, he represents the Filipino hustle-mentality well. And like all of the Filipinos we met, he was kind, thoughtful, and just cool as hell.
We spent two full weeks getting to know the Filipino way of life visiting Manila, Cebu, and Moalboal. We scootered around the islands having a blast diving off waterfalls, getting scuba certified, hanging out with monkeys, and soaking up the sun. We visited Manny Pacquiao’s training facility in Manila, watched the Super Bowl in a huge bar, and bet the games at one of their awesome casinos. I had no idea I would love the Philippines as much as I did and you will too. The people are amazingly kind, speak great English, and love basketball.

You should also go to Lars’ brother’s barber shop, Homie Barber Shop. It’s located also near Lars Republic. Homie is also a very talented barber. He has been my barber for 4 years now and I would recommend him for his meticulous, sharp, and neat barber skills 💯 The brothers share the same vibe with the hip-hop and homey style or environment but Homie is more lowkey than Lars is.

There are a lot of good barbers in the philippines. They're also much cheaper!
Tons of talent on the islands. Its not all about cost all of the time. Environment and personality have a price as well.

“So the music in his barber house was amazing 😃”. Shame we couldn’t hear it🙁! Instead we got some dreadful over-dubbed muzak ☹️. If you’re going to do a World Barbershop Tour, it needs to include local SOUND and vision. so that we get the whole experience.
It’s good to hear all the background city sounds, the local languages and barber shop sounds, as well as all the local radio stations. Haven’t a clue what they are saying, but it’s all part of the experience. It’s why we watch 😀...
I totally understand this point of view and wish I could show everything in its entirety. The sound rights on TH-cam and the other platforms make it extremely difficult. That is why I have transitioned into no background music in my most recent productions.

Less than $20 US. Not sure of the exact number.

Bro that fade is so avarage to be polite. The fade could do with being more graduated and there is inconsistent dark patches . This guy is trying to fly before he can walk ! No guidelines . And as for your brothers trim ??? High fade bro I am half Filipino so believe me I would love to give this guy a good rating but for a pro with his own shop.
