- Hey folks! In today’s video back with another unseeded high score run. The early game for this run was a little chaotic, but eventually it settled into a fairly strong high card build utilizing the improved blue seals and a burnt joker to get a lot of hand levels. Enjoy the video!
Balatro is a poker roguelike deck building game centered around creating powerful synergies and winning with big hands. In it, you can combine valid poker hands with unique Jokers in order to create varied synergies and builds. Earn enough chips to beat blinds, including challenging boss blinds, to make it to the next ante and progress your run!

"Sock and buskin" are ancient symbols of comedy and tragedy. In ancient Greek theatre, actors in tragic roles wore a boot called a buskin (Latin cothurnus) while the actors with comedic roles wore only a thin-soled shoe called a sock (Latin soccus).
...I'm guessing that is where the actual word "sock" came from as well

Love watching your videos! One tip that I think most people gloss over with the mime/baron combo is that you want to split them as evenly as possible BUT you want to err on the side of mime. Think of it this way: the steel card is basically already a baron so optimal is 1 more mime. I wrote a script to generate the values but I don't think you care because I assume you're less of a dork than me
1 more mime is the same as 1 more baron. Multiplication is commutative
@@charles-492Mimes' additional trigger is more like changing the exponents, which is not commutative. 5 mimes and 5 barons is better than 1 mime and 9 barons or 9 mimes and 1 baron. And as OP mentions, when you have an odd number, an extra mime is correct due to steel cards.
I laughed when that pack had both Ride the Bus and Green Joker, because those were some of the worst picks you could be offered for your "fish for face cards" build.

I got a goated high card run on ghost deck gold stake. I got an eternal green joker in the first shop and then in the second shop I got a spectral pack with ankh.

Also, I had Midas Mask/Vampire once. I think I even got Pareidolia and then immediately had to sell it because of The Mark. (I swear to god, I only ever get Pareidolia when The Mark is up next...)
He’s going for high scores, pirate is great to win the run but like most flat mult jokers have limited potential in endless.
@@DonQuixoteFan TBH, you could get a lot of ramp out of Gift/Egg/Pirate with some kind of scaling multiplier-multiplier. Something like Midas/Vampire would work really well for this.
might be a dumb question but i’m still trying to improve my understanding of balatro in general. at 10:44, would it have been worth holding onto the temperance until the end of the round since gift card adds sell value to your jokers? or is there something i’m missing
It would have been optimal yes
The perfect timing would be after the gift card adds value but before you go into the shop

Why does he change the Baron with the Mime after hitting Play Hand?
Order of operations. It counts the Baron first, and doesn't calculate Mime until Baron script is complete; therefore, he's copying Baron with Blueprint & Brainstorm, plus copying Mime with both copy Jokers on top of that. It's not a bug or glitch & you've gotta make the move fast, but it adds about 2.5^x scoring (x is the number of red seal kings plus steel)
Edit: also swapping to Mime allows the gold cards to duplicate as well, so 3x the money
Unfortunately i don't ever get all the jokers i need for a run like this.
If the run lasts long enough you can find anything

Getting high card runs are extremely easy, just gotta r a few times :)
to be fair if you play balatro a lot every day good chance you can get a good run often
Play a lot, and know what to look out for. Plus white stake lets you get away with a lot of earlier shenanigans / greeding which would kill you at higher difficulties
You can get high card build like 90% of the time with plasma deck. It’s mainly just managing your economy
Other decks still can get high card run going quite consistently, but plasma early game power make it much easier

Dumb question, but why is checkered deck an easy one to Gold Stake post patch? Did flushes get buffed?
Not sure about Roffle but I thought it was pretty decent for gold stake before the patch too. The main buff would be the blue seal change which in a deck with a simple game plan like checkered is nice, that and the fact that straight flushes are both significantly easier with extra +1 hand size and stronger with the Neptune buff
The -1 hand size really hurt checkered deck more than other decks, since with 8 cards you can pretty much always get a flush (and you can actually guarantee one with paintbrush), but with 7 it's a crapshoot
It’s better to duplicate the mime rather than the baron because they activate the baron and an extra gold card
You can duplicate baron and then move to the mime while the hand is scoring so that it triggers the gold again

If this is unseeded or unmodified and just regular balatro i am either the unluckiest Person or someone is lying. First pack 2rare, ante 1 cardpack several cards with extra. Even ante 4 i rarely get sth Else then regular or stone….Seems sus
He plays multiple games a day, I've had better than this with about 35hrs in game, idk what you could find sus about this
roffle has had terrible runs that dont go past ante 3 on streams, he only uploads runs that past ante 8 on yt cuz people dont wanna watch a bad run lol. which makes sense
