However, the route crossed some of the remotest countryside in Britain, and intermediate stations like Dunford Bridge served a few houses, with no substantial communities for miles. It's surprising BR rebuilt the station when they realigned the tracks for the new tunnel in the 1950s.
Yeah, at the time it wasn't economical to keep it open but these days it would be very useful. Especially considering as Crowden has 0 public transport
