I understand the cultural differences. But I think there’s a communication breakdown. “Date” for westerners is just going out together for lunch, dinner, a show or just to a quiet public spot to talk - all in an attempt to get to know each other better and to find out if there is compatibility. At this point marriage should not even be on the mind as that would be a hindrance. The date should be a no pressure event with the understanding it could be a one time meeting or a continuation towards something more. Now if true love is not the goal, but instead money and security. Then I would say that would be something a westerner would not be interested in. It sounds sterile, cold and business like.
In most cases (you can search this topic on youtube), Chinese bride expect bridegroom to own a spacious house with no mortgage, a car with no loan and provide the dowry for the bride's parents. Because of that (men unable to meet women's demands), there are so many leftover women (millions of women) who have passed their window of fertility despite a huge surplus of men due to China's one child policy.
