Lords of the Fallen is a great soulslike, and its killer new idea of swapping between two versions of the world to solve puzzles and slay enemies is an excellent twist to set it apart from the pack. That concept is unfortunately hamstrung by numerous, highly annoying technical issues and weak boss fights, but awesome explorable areas and fantastic buildcrafting more than make up for those shortcomings. If, like me, you’re a sucker for a quality action-RPG even amid a clear overabundance of them, then this reboot is well worth your time.

Easy bosses might be the most beneficial distinction from the Souls series aside from the dual-world mechanic. Not for me personally because I’m a masochist, but I’ve talked to a lot of people who’d definitely prefer a slightly more ‘relaxed’ action RPG experience.
Most souls vets dont think souls is very hard. Nioh 2 is way harder than any souls game.

@@omega458 thats the equivalent of playing a game on easy mode and complaining its easy. You are missing my point. These games have dynamic difficulty based on how you play it. Letting your friend tank aggro and you get free hits is cheesy as hell and side steps the difficulty of a boss fight since you dont actually need to learn their mechanics.

If you remove that learning curve you are left with a stunning world with nothing much to do and stale gameplay. The fun IS in the high but fair difficulty. If you dont like that then the genre is simply not for you.
The main bosses are actually hard most the bosses he talking about are mini bosses which are easy

They played co-op the whole time so obviously the bosses would be easier. Probably only went co-op cause they couldn’t do it normally then convinced themselves that the game is easy just cause the bosses only agro one player at once.

Lords Of The Fallen looks pretty cool. Very strangely, in terms of graphics and the whole artistic direction, it reminds me of the Demon's Souls remake.

The game on PS5 runs as smooth as a butter, no issues anything and is a fckn great game. Also they patched it on PC too and fixed most of the issues.
The Umbral mechanic is the Soul Reaver mechanic. Nice to see it back.

Game runs better on console than PC. That's a common thing. The advantage to PC is you can get a better experience IF it's optimized. These days, having day 1 optimization is rare AF.
They've already pushed a patch for stability. Curious as to the impact.

1999s Soul Reaver for the first playstation and Sega Dreamcast was pretty much this game , albeit with graphics from over 20 years ago.
Will get it to remind me of the old days.

SERIOUSLY DON’T BUY - There is a lot of jumping that player need to make in the game and the jumping mechanic is poorly done. 100% break immersive. I’ve completed the 3rd boss and quit, its not fun jumping and falling, when you get to the boss or clear the stage, you already be numb, all excitement loss because you die too many time falling. You will regret it if you buy.
IGN gave this and spiderman 2 an 8. Is 8 the only score people give anymore? Its like they are scared to hurt the devs feelings or scared to praise a smaller dev team.
Considering they gave Armored Core 6 and Lies of P an 8 (my GOTY) this should be amazing

People get so salty when a game they are anticipating, one they literally have not played yet doesn’t get a 10/10. Like I’m no fan of IGN reviews but 8 is a pretty solid score especially for a game with such horrendous pc performance.

This is what I’m saying. 8 is a great game that you should enjoy and have fun with. 9-10 are the best games. 7 are just mid games that were decently polished and had a lot of work behind them. Anything below a 7 is typically low budget, bad games with everything sucking including animations

I've watched footage of multiple Boss fights so far and none of them looked 'easy' by genre standards. Every TH-camr who has mentioned it says the game is "hard"...is it possible the IGN reviewers have simply played so much of it over the past 2-3 months that its become easy to them? Shame about the technical problems - hopefully they get patched ASAP.
They played with a mate the whole time which obviously will make it easier they probably only did that so they could say it’s easy. But with co-op the agro of bosses would only go for one person leaving the only person to just destroy the boss.

@@lemonplays-gamingthe difficulty is a tool that forces you to engage with its mechanics, be it the dodging or the different attack moves, ultimately it is about how well those mechanics are implemented. That is it would be fun if you can engage with many mechanics spontaneously even if it is not difficult, but it would not be fun if you are stuck with one mechanics (e.g. only parrying) even if it is difficulty
however if it is done right, like sekiro, it could still be fun

Demon's Souls and even DS1 are just like that. They definitely ramped up boss difficulty as the series went on.

I'm glad most of the criticisms are about technical issues which can hopefully all be patched over time. It's better than having fundamentally flawed game mechanics which you can't easily bug-fix away.
Stop reviewing on PC, performance is MUCH better on consoles. That’s what most new games are made for.

8/10, while the community is giving it 5 or 6 due to so many issues. IGN are more and more pathetic. Your scoring makes no sense. A game does something new, 6/10. Rinse-and-repeat COD, 9/10. Technically broken game released too early, 8/10.
Yea will wait for patches and bug fixes and as a pc gamer will wait for more polish, but no big deal as we have so much to play this year.
I’m all for hard bosses but as someone who beat Elden ring pre-patch… damn that was hard. Malenia, Malekith, Elden Beast, and Radahn were all near impossible without using summons or co-op

dark souls 3 is 59.99
on ps5 this is blehhh clunky, choppy, low res but still playing cause of the unique exploration.
Its more like a 7, The game isn't next gen, the first few hours is just farming, the umbral world isn't utilized to its fullest, the sound design is poor, the enemies are unbalanced, the character creator looks pretty bad.
But is it fun? ,tbh it feels like a DS1 Expansion, which is fine to me.
Lacks the quality of From Software games, Lies of P is better game overall

Harry becomes Venom. Throughout the story, He and Peter become distant. And Harry starts to become jealous of Peter. -Pete is injured and close to death, so Miles gets Martin Lee to try and heal him, the energy mutates the bits of symbiote that are still in Peter and hence he becomes Anti Venom.
So Lies of P releases with no bugs, best optimization, runs amazing...gets an 8
Lords of the fallen while beautiful, many performance issues, game crashes and easy boss fights...also gets an 8

Already pre ordered the game on my series x, I think most of the issues are on pc and online co-op which won't be affecting my experience with the game.
The only thing that make me want to buy it is that it's not so hard.

So as whole the only negatives are technical which can be fixed in time. Improvements on performance and some balancing and refinements with the boss fights could easily push this up to a 9/10
What you write can be stated about many games so it means nothing, this is what they released with.
You say that and yet here we are months and months later and Jedi Survivor still doesn't have consistent FPS in performance mode on PS5. The technical issues being fixed is no guarantee.

No crossplay on release (PS5 and PC). It is not possible to find a steam player on PS5 and the other way round. Even if you have a private game room number you cannot join the other player (so far). Hope they will fix it asap.

There is no universe this game gets the same rating as Assassin's Creed Mirage.
They also put out a performance patch on PC a few hours ago which seemed to have fixed all the issues.

Assassin's Creed Mirage felt like downgraded AC game in every way with chat-gpt level writing and story. The fact they gave it an 8 which is the same level as Lies of P and LotF is an insult.

@@donniedarko4497 similar but the spaces within Lords of the fallen are more closed in and personal instead of being wide open areas to roam similar to ff16. The graphics are immersive and better than Elden ring’s but I’ve only been playing for a few days so far.

Concerning the cons you mentioned about coop play...that's why the developers should allow you to play this game with the option of having another 1 or 2 allies to fight along side you with the ai controlling them, instead of coop play. Those allies could be people you meet along your journey or people already in the characters list when you turn the game on. Then everytime you start a new mission the cpu gives you the choice to either choose anywhere from 1 to 2 allies to fight by your side or go it alone.
If you want something like this, try anime souls. (code vein)
