I wasn’t really into K-pop before, but one day, I stumbled upon BTS on TH-cam, and everything changed. BTS helped me through some of the darkest moments of my life. I thank God for allowing me to discover them at the exact time I needed comfort the most. I’ve never cared about a group or artist as much as I do for BTS. I didn’t appreciate K-pop until I found them. They’ve set the bar so high that whenever I try to explore other groups, my heart always comes back to BTS. To me, no one else compares-their artistry, lyrics, and music are on another level. Everything they do, they do with such excellence. They’re legendary. They’re not perfect, no one is, but what I admire most about them is their humility, kindness, and honesty. They’re genuine-what you see is what you get. BTS has influenced me to become a better person, and that’s how impactful they are. I know I’m not alone in experiencing this kind of joy from BTS. I’m just grateful and proud to be part of such an intelligent, incredible community-the BTS ARMY. We’re in this Bangtan sh1t for life, indeed!💜

When I went to PTD DOCUMENTARY MOVIE I saw an Army giving out Photocards to everyone in the cinema..i got inspired and i did the same for I AM STILL Movie...i felt so happy and armys were so cute and they were happy too . Also During Suga kickboardincident Armys all around the world Donated hundreds of dollars for UNICEF under Yoongis name in their respective counties .
I never comment but, I have to say that one time I was watching a charity stream for St. Jude, a children’s hospital that does research for cancer, and I saw multiple donations under the name of ‘BTS ARMY’ and it was really heart warming to see especially since the live stream was by a Sims4 player and had nothing to do with kpop. Some army just donated but put in under armies name. 😢
Recently some people threated to leak jungkook international passport details ( personal details) army take down this account with in a few hours. Before that person post anything.
Yeah, I noticed how twt army’s are soo fast to report and take down problematic accounts. They’re truly a protective shield a lot of the time. So hardworking when it comes to streaming, voting and protecting the boys. I’m seriously grateful to these ppl, since I only have limited time and understanding

Im honestly so happy to hear that someone thinks of us differently and not toxicly.. I hate when theres someone in our fandom that wants to know their personal issues, problems and anything about them. Celebrities are people that encourages us. they dont own us ANYTHING. we should keep them protected and safe, we shouldnt make it unsafe and tiring for them. theres a high risk that they would quit being idols due to the stressful job and wide spread recognition. they are our idols but they are human too. im so proud of my fandom, im proud to call myself an army 💜💜 i love you guys so muchh and thank you for listening to our idols wishes 💜💜💜💜
It’s kind of bittersweet to watch this now bc sadly the fandom changed a lot since this video came out, and not in a good way… Unfortunately, the number of toxic fans and solos grew a lot and some armies forgot the fandom’s principles that were mentioned in this video.
I have to admit, I'm concerned about the 'toxic solo effect' that may be the result of the solo era. But then I remind myself that when the guys are together again they will probably be concentrating on group songs for a while, and that will send a lot of solos packing. I notice an awful lot of commenters now nag reactors for specific reactions, and completely fail to say anything about what the reactor is actually viewing at the time. I would never be a reactor, I'd be too busy telling people, "Shut UP about that, ok? There's only so many hours in the week and so many videos I can make at one time; and why should I bother making a video for you when you pay no attention at all to the one you're actually on?"
Yeah, sadly I agree. Another thing I think many ppl in the fandom don't realize or don't consider, regarding the toxic fans, are their numbers. For example, let's say the fandom consists of 14 million ppl and only 10% are toxic... that 10% might be the minority, but 1,400,000 is a lot of ppl and when you have that many ppl constantly spreading hate(like what’s happening rn regarding Felix and the AMAs) that's what ppl are mostly going to see and it's sad/upsetting. It's not that everyone thinks ARMYs as a whole is toxic, many ppl know there are a lot of good ARMYs too... the issue is that the toxic fans are extremely loud and they tend to overshadow everyone else😮💨 Unfortunately, the bigger a group gets(no matter who it is), the more toxic fans they pick up along the way and with BTS having the largest fanbase(and still growing), the amount of toxic fans are going to be greater. I know it's hard for many to accept, afterall no one wants their fandom to be related to anything negative, but that's just reality and it’s something we can't control🤷♀ When it comes to negativity in general, I just laugh and ignore it bc it's childish and not worth the time and energy fighting over lol I've been a K-pop fan for 15yrs now, so I know just how hateful, stupid and annoying/immature some K-pop fans can be, even some within my own fandom(s)😂🤦♀ Some also shouldn’t justify that toxic behavior by saying stuff like “we’re just over protective” bc not only are you allowing such behavior, you’re encouraging it and that’s not right😟

We do seem to have a lower overall % of toxics (I've been in much smaller fandoms with a much higher % of trolls), but we're such a big fandom, that it still comes out to a lot of people. There's over 80M of us, so even 1% of that would be almost a million nasty folk hanging around. And toxics are so. Darn. Loud. I hadn't heard about Felix; that poor lad keeps landing in trouble lately. First he got told off for not knowing Korean history and offending Koreans with his ignorance, and now this. The thing is, he's not wrong. Many groups did pave the way, and NSYNC was certainly one of them. It's only fair to add that NKOTB and the Jackson Five before them were the ones that really kicked off the whole 'boy band' idea, though. (Honestly, I'm a little annoyed with the AMAs themselves. Imagine doing a 'boy band' homage while BTS is unable to attend...)

Boy bands existed way before BTS’s time lol it didn’t start or end with them... Im really happy to have stumbled upon this video. Seing the original video again makes me so happy rn. I really needed this today. You easily get distracted by negative daily news but things like this make my heart feel so warm and full. It’s how I fell in love with the fandom first years ago, the support and love and joint effort. I never expected to like some artists this much, as I never really listened to music. Then I found bts and they became an integral part of my life. So I never expected to fall in love with a fandom at all. But from day 1 I’ve felt the support and love. As someone who knew nothing about the music industry, streaming or anything, I got so much support and help to get around. I love how army’s always try to improve and be better. I love how bts and army’s became my safe space, my magic shop I can always turn to and seek comfort and happiness and so many more emotions. Their music accompanied me through every important moment of my life since I became an army.

We have standards and the way some act badly these days is annoying to the majority of us who like peace.
I have run into several ARMY and they have been so nice it's like being with family members, and I love it. I've never been a person to be a fan of anyone until BTS because they are the first group who aligns with my belief of being a good human being and treating others with respect.

It's so true! ARMY is the most charitable and protective fandom I've ever seen and I've ever been part of as someone who used to stan a lot of artists and groups and also fandoms outside music like actors, sports, etc. ARMYs are great and I'm so proud to be part of it! We really have been changing the fandom culture since the very beginning (I also think our actions are really influenced by BTS' messages and personas) and now you can see others trying to do the same kind of things. Armys are the blueprint! Of course, there's a percentage of toxic people like in every community and as always they are loud, but it's really the minority compared to how huge we are and for what we are really known outside (not in just an app like twt that is full of toxic people in general and full of stans hating others while pretending to be fans of BTS even though I truly think twt army is the best too)
I once came across a query email from an international student (ARMY) at the Uni where I work in the UK. She had some issues relating to settling down and her course. She had Jungkook's picture as her pp and BTS. I gave her all the support she needed and extra just in case. I felt like I was helping a younger sister.

Thank you for this video Ben! When I first started to stan BTS I too was terrified of ARMY. But as time went on I realised they are just protective of the BTS members. I feel the BTS ARMY is just misunderstood. Of course not everyone is perfect and there may be few toxic people or haters posing as fans. APOBANGPO 💜
I also had a negative idea of army until I stepped into it. Wow! The kindest and most welcoming, most diverse and most patient individuals. I listen to so much different artists and many fanbases will judge and ridicule new fans for not knowing certain things, they'll even gatekeep. But ARMY welcomes and embraces everyone. There's always someone in the comments willing to explain or translate for baby army so that you can understand the content and enjoy the inside joke. I also love how we flood any BTS collaborators with so much love and positivity on their socials even when their fans are trashing our boys (this is still hard for me to do and I now avoid That Kid Laroi's Twitter page 😅😅😅) I am still growing as an ARMY

Hi Ben, I'm so happy you're watching this and knowing that the toxic people in the fandom are a minority. I can vouch that Armies are wonderful people that are always helping each other and BTS as we strive together. I was actually introduced to BTS by an ARMY when I was at my lowest time in life. She introduced me to one of BTS's songs but she didn't mentioned which artist/s that the song was from and told me to just listen to it if I wanted to. I tried listening to it and by the time I knew it I was looking for their names and Albums and it was the best choice I ever made. I can never thank her enough for introducing their music to me as it helps me in keeping strong, motivated, gain my confidence in loving myself and just view life in a much more positive way than it was before. Thus, I also do the same with people around me and introduce them to BTS songs indirectly as she did as I hope that their songs and mission will also help them as they have helped me. And now I can confidently say that my friends and family members are Armies since 2014 and ongoing 😊

I have heard/seen so many reactors who are iffy about doing BTS reactions for the same reason. The problem is...the toxic "fans" who claim to be ARMY are the loudest. Without this video, without Taylor Mari's "Guide", without SO many others who highlight the good that ARMY does, it can seem very daunting...if not downright scary or terrifying. I wish other reactors would take the time to watch videos like these and see that 99.9% of us ARE nice. As long as you are open and honest with your reactions, we will gladly welcome you and help you on your way down the rabbit hole. People just have to give TRUE ARMY a chance...and Ben, I am so glad you did!

It’s kind of bittersweet to watch this now bc sadly the fandom changed a lot since this video came out, and not in a good way… Unfortunately, the number of toxic fans and solos grew a lot and some armies forgot the fandom’s principles that were mentioned in this video.
I have to admit, I'm concerned about the 'toxic solo effect' that may be the result of the solo era. But then I remind myself that when the guys are together again they will probably be concentrating on group songs for a while, and that will send a lot of solos packing.
I notice an awful lot of commenters now nag reactors for specific reactions, and completely fail to say anything about what the reactor is actually viewing at the time. I would never be a reactor, I'd be too busy telling people, "Shut UP about that, ok? There's only so many hours in the week and so many videos I can make at one time; and why should I bother making a video for you when you pay no attention at all to the one you're actually on?"

Yeah, sadly I agree. Another thing I think many ppl in the fandom don't realize or don't consider, regarding the toxic fans, are their numbers. For example, let's say the fandom consists of 14 million ppl and only 10% are toxic... that 10% might be the minority, but 1,400,000 is a lot of ppl and when you have that many ppl constantly spreading hate(like what’s happening rn regarding Felix and the AMAs) that's what ppl are mostly going to see and it's sad/upsetting. It's not that everyone thinks ARMYs as a whole is toxic, many ppl know there are a lot of good ARMYs too... the issue is that the toxic fans are extremely loud and they tend to overshadow everyone else😮💨
Unfortunately, the bigger a group gets(no matter who it is), the more toxic fans they pick up along the way and with BTS having the largest fanbase(and still growing), the amount of toxic fans are going to be greater. I know it's hard for many to accept, afterall no one wants their fandom to be related to anything negative, but that's just reality and it’s something we can't control🤷♀ When it comes to negativity in general, I just laugh and ignore it bc it's childish and not worth the time and energy fighting over lol I've been a K-pop fan for 15yrs now, so I know just how hateful, stupid and annoying/immature some K-pop fans can be, even some within my own fandom(s)😂🤦♀ Some also shouldn’t justify that toxic behavior by saying stuff like “we’re just over protective” bc not only are you allowing such behavior, you’re encouraging it and that’s not right😟
@@Bionca1214 That's all very true. We do seem to have a lower overall % of toxics (I've been in much smaller fandoms with a much higher % of trolls), but we're such a big fandom, that it still comes out to a lot of people. There's over 80M of us, so even 1% of that would be almost a million nasty folk hanging around.
And toxics are so. Darn. Loud.
I hadn't heard about Felix; that poor lad keeps landing in trouble lately. First he got told off for not knowing Korean history and offending Koreans with his ignorance, and now this. The thing is, he's not wrong. Many groups did pave the way, and NSYNC was certainly one of them. It's only fair to add that NKOTB and the Jackson Five before them were the ones that really kicked off the whole 'boy band' idea, though.
(Honestly, I'm a little annoyed with the AMAs themselves. Imagine doing a 'boy band' homage while BTS is unable to attend...)

Yeah, it’s really sad, but ridiculously annoying more than anything… I had heard about the Felix drama yesterday, right before I posted my first comment. I was like “Really?” lol I just ignored it and laughed it off bc for one, they’re in America, at an American award show where they paid tribute to *NSYNC(an American boy band) by performing their iconic song “Bye Bye Bye” and the question referred to Boy Bands not K-pop boy bands/groups… While BTS did pave the way for K-pop groups to transition into the U.S., they didn’t pave the way for boy bands overall. Boy bands existed way before BTS’s time lol it didn’t start or end with them... I never take the toxics seriously, they’re usually kids from this new generation, they’d have to be to say something like that… I still be jamming to The Temptations and Jackson 5 and I was born in '90 liner lol Not all gen z are toxic tho, thank goodness🙏🏽😄

Im really happy to have stumbled upon this video. Seing the original video again makes me so happy rn. I really needed this today. You easily get distracted by negative daily news but things like this make my heart feel so warm and full. It’s how I fell in love with the fandom first years ago, the support and love and joint effort. I never expected to like some artists this much, as I never really listened to music. Then I found bts and they became an integral part of my life. So I never expected to fall in love with a fandom at all. But from day 1 I’ve felt the support and love. As someone who knew nothing about the music industry, streaming or anything, I got so much support and help to get around. I love how army’s always try to improve and be better.
I love how bts and army’s became my safe space, my magic shop I can always turn to and seek comfort and happiness and so many more emotions. Their music accompanied me through every important moment of my life since I became an army.
I am one of those ARMY who can go to concerts,don’t have membership,can’t afford album and merchandise,because y priorities are needs not wants,and BTS just wants us to enjoy their music and be an inspirations for each others 💜💜💜

I'm a new kpop fan/Stay and it's sometimes terrifying seeing how fans treat the groups they love, their fandom, and other fandoms. I'm grateful for the shift in kpop fandoms and for the Army setting a good example. These groups deserve fans that respect them as artists and people. We have to encourage the good and call out the bad so they can be safe, happy, and proud of their influence in the world. Thanks Army and decent people everywhere!

This video shows the difference between real army and new people claiming to be army. If they don't know or follow these basics, they are fakes no matter when they started posting about the group. We have standards and the way some act badly these days is annoying to the majority of us who like peace.
I have run into several ARMY and they have been so nice it's like being with family members, and I love it. I've never been a person to be a fan of anyone until BTS because they are the first group who aligns with my belief of being a good human being and treating others with respect.

It's so true! ARMY is the most charitable and protective fandom I've ever seen and I've ever been part of as someone who used to stan a lot of artists and groups and also fandoms outside music like actors, sports, etc. ARMYs are great and I'm so proud to be part of it! We really have been changing the fandom culture since the very beginning (I also think our actions are really influenced by BTS' messages and personas) and now you can see others trying to do the same kind of things. Armys are the blueprint!
Of course, there's a percentage of toxic people like in every community and as always they are loud, but it's really the minority compared to how huge we are and for what we are really known outside (not in just an app like twt that is full of toxic people in general and full of stans hating others while pretending to be fans of BTS even though I truly think twt army is the best too)

I feel the BTS ARMY is just misunderstood. Of course not everyone is perfect and there may be few toxic people or haters posing as fans.

I also had a negative idea of army until I stepped into it.
Wow! The kindest and most welcoming, most diverse and most patient individuals.
I listen to so much different artists and many fanbases will judge and ridicule new fans for not knowing certain things, they'll even gatekeep. But ARMY welcomes and embraces everyone. There's always someone in the comments willing to explain or translate for baby army so that you can understand the content and enjoy the inside joke. I also love how we flood any BTS collaborators with so much love and positivity on their socials even when their fans are trashing our boys (this is still hard for me to do and I now avoid That Kid Laroi's Twitter page 😅😅😅) I am still growing as an ARMY
So proud to be a BTS ARMY! Other ARMY are just so amazing! I live in Wisconsin and my 10 year old daughter and I went to the D-Day movie when it came out. Hi Ben, I'm so happy you're watching this and knowing that the toxic people in the fandom are a minority.
I can vouch that Armies are wonderful people that are always helping each other and BTS as we strive together.
I was actually introduced to BTS by an ARMY when I was at my lowest time in life.
She introduced me to one of BTS's songs but she didn't mentioned which artist/s that the song was from and told me to just listen to it if I wanted to.
I tried listening to it and by the time I knew it I was looking for their names and Albums and it was the best choice I ever made.
I can never thank her enough for introducing their music to me as it helps me in keeping strong, motivated, gain my confidence in loving myself and just view life in a much more positive way than it was before.
Thus, I also do the same with people around me and introduce them to BTS songs indirectly as she did as I hope that their songs and mission will also help them as they have helped me.
And now I can confidently say that my friends and family members are Armies since 2014 and ongoing 😊
The real army is to have respect towards BTS members. They give us music and entertainment and love in return. They don't interfere in our lives. So let's have mutual respect. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

what sucks is that even when protecting bts, some of those "army's" will literally comment hate, some going to the point of death threats to those ppl and their families. It's terrible to see and I wish those ppl didn't use the terrible excuse that they are "protecting bts" as their reason. They are doing exactly what bts would hate and it pushes our bad representation even more :(. If you don't like smth just ignore it!!!

as a ARMY i can honestly say that some ARMYS are very histeric and obsessive.
I have heard/seen so many reactors who are iffy about doing BTS reactions for the same reason.
The problem is...the toxic "fans" who claim to be ARMY are the loudest.
Without this video, without Taylor Mari's "Guide", without SO many others who highlight the good that ARMY does, it can seem very daunting...if not downright scary or terrifying.
I wish other reactors would take the time to watch videos like these and see that 99.9% of us ARE nice.
As long as you are open and honest with your reactions, we will gladly welcome you and help you on your way down the rabbit hole. People just have to give TRUE ARMY a chance...and Ben, I am so glad you did!
