This jam is toooo smooth...they had it going ON. Along with Leon's super talented writing/producing capabilities....I bet Rod Temperton(from Heatwave) could have had this group all over the Map. Two mega-writers like these guys would have propelled this amazing family into the stratosphere. Man this tune is BAAAAD!
The intro alone sends you in another world... The production and that fabulous bassline by Leon are great and then the outstanding choreography by Angie & Pat will win you over no matter what... WOW, this is REAL music and I'm not just saying it. The musical instruments! You don't hear that in today's music. Even though a song of the past could've been pre-recorded, you could still differentiate whether a live instrument was played in a studio between some computerized noise. That's beautiful. That's what a lot of music today lacks, unfortunately. This is a REALLY great song. =)

I bought EVERY album he touched, Shalamar, The Whispers, etc. I haven't heard this song in over 25 years and it is just a crisp and perfectly produced as I remember. Classic song that should have done MUCH better than it did!

I wish I had known about "Lover Come Back" back in the day bc I definitely would've included it in a mix tape (remember those?!) for wooing that special someone to come back and give our love another try. I think of the man who unknowingly captured my heart first as a young freshman with his own huge "Sylvers fro" (back in '76). I had such a bad crush on him and he even resembled Leon a little! Fate stepped in 10 years later ... we met and became friends. He was so gorgeous and romantic ... It was great while it lasted, but it was not a forever love. I feel Foster when he sings, "... I miss you sooooooo muchhhh".

The album is fantastic in my opinion even though it was generally overlooked and didn't sell well.. Leon reunited with his siblings taking over the reins of production. .1981 wasn't a good year for Solar artists as they were changing their distribution label. The marketing was poor shalamar and dynasty also suffered dismal record sales from poor promotional that year..

This is the third song I've discovered on TH-cam that I've never heard before until now and wonder why I've missed it when it came out back in 1981 ( I was 12 then). This should have been a smash R& B hit by the Sylvers back in the Solar days. But the record company was parting their ways with RCA at the time and moving under the MCA umbrella. I've played this clip twice every night every since I've heard it. This was truly great music!

Gladly Leon Sylvers III Started to produce for the unmistakable label SOLAR RECORDS, he scored multi platinum hits for : Shalamar, The Whispers,Dynasty, The Lakeside, finally reunite some the siblings on the album CONCEPT on Solar Records, which to me is one of my old time fav album, all the cuts are superb. " Come Back Lover Come Back". This one is the prove of my, still tears drop song. I can never stop getting goosebumps each time I play this song. The so esoteric Strings arrangement that impeccably move the song to next level, the tight funk rhythm and horns section, so "on the one" gets into your body, the harmonies, the melody fulfil the soul. I will never get tired of this Song, and the whole album "Concept."

I too was a huge fan of The Sylvers, however, this track slipped right past me. Didn't get any airplay in Michigan and that's a damn shame because it would have certainly been a hit. I am so thankful for TV One doing Unsung documentary on this incredibly talented family. I sure wish I could have gotten a taste of that fine azz Rickey ... whew, should be againt the law for a man to be this fine. Lol ... Love them dearly. Hope Rickey and Foster are released soon. They were so underrated! They definitely get the recognition they deserved.
The Sylvers, 9 members, starting at the age of 9 years old...Underestimated group, despite they huge success early 70' produced by Leon Sylvers III and the more magic pop touch Freddie Perren, also producer of huge hits for The Jackson 5.Later on in early 80' the success wasn't as the 70's one. Gladly Leon Sylvers III Started to produce for the unmistakable label SOLAR RECORDS, he scored multi platinum hits for : Shalamar, The Whispers,Dynasty, The Lakeside, finally reunite some the siblings on the album CONCEPT on Solar Records, which to me is one of my old time fav album, all the cuts are superb. " Come Back Lover Come Back". This one is the prove of my, still tears drop song. I can never stop getting goosebumps each time I play this song. The so esoteric Strings arrangement that impeccably move the song to next level, the tight funk rhythm and horns section, so "on the one" gets into your body, the harmonies, the melody fulfil the soul. I will never get tired of this Song, and the whole album "Concept."

I too was a huge fan of The Sylvers, however, this track slipped right past me. Didn't get any airplay in Michigan and that's a damn shame because it would have certainly been a hit. I am so thankful for TV One doing Unsung documentary on this incredibly talented family. I sure wish I could have gotten a taste of that fine azz Rickey ... whew, should be againt the law for a man to be this fine. Lol ... Love them dearly. Hope Rickey and Foster are released soon. Fans here truly adore you all !!
I has this CD, i do not know what happaned to it. The bass land the ochestra at the begining of the song, just out of this world. Leon is a genius.
