  • In this video, I'm documenting how I made my DIY mannequin! This is a very low-budget project that uses only a bit of plastic wrap, shopping bags, some spare wood I had around the house, a few nuts and bolts, and of course... duct tape!
This project ended up costing less than $25.00!
The goal for this project was to create a simple human analog to use for modeling parts for the GENESIS Robotic Platform and possibly some cosplay projects in the future.
The future of this project may be to clean up the shape and outer layer a bit with more duct tape, body filler (PVA or Spackle), and possibly fabric. I also intend to eventually make it possible to disassemble, in order to make changing and upgrading parts easier.
It's very functional (but maybe not that pretty) and should work great for human modeling!
    Parts used:
    1 roll of saran wrap
    2.5 rolls of duct tape
    4 castor wheels
    2 pieces of 3/4 inch pine (about 2 x 2 feet and 1.5 x 2 feet)
    3 (2 foot long) 2 x 4s cut into 1/4 sections
about 12, 4 inch long carriage bolts, nuts, and washers
    10 wood screws
and all the bags I could carry with me from my cities recycling center!
Please stick with me as I continue on with the GENESIS Robotic Platform Project!

Covering your body with plastic can over heat your body and give you a heat stroke ..
