Pala's are stronger than DH glory days in DF. The only reason they are not played as much is they are not as fun/cool. But they are lightyears ahead of any other tank right now with the dmg, mitigation and kit they have.
How can you say that they are stronger then the tank that did literally shut down a group making them basically target dummies for a long period of time compared to how prot paladin is now? Remember almost all of the toolkit Prot has now they had then. There is nothing special about the toolkit that has changed for prot paladin
@@havtor007 Well. There is slightly more variety of tanks in the top 100 in DF season 3 than there is now. In other words. @@anonymousSWE Well that does not say much as you are comparing a season that is over to a season that is only halfway. And in this season there is in the top 200 runs 3 none Prot paladin runs. I need an advanced tutorial because as a 632 prot pally, I’m stalled on 10’s and clearly doing something wrong. I get hit wayyyy too hard even staggering cd’s. I’ve been reading recently that made stacking crit is more optimal which is unfortunate because I’ve gone deep into haste mastery and that would require some fairly substantial regearing. That said I’m like 32% haste, 27% mastery, 16% crit. I def could drop some haste but it make cds and gcd so painful. I also cannot, even standing in consecration, throwing avengers shield out, and having sotr up that I can get above 90% spellblock. Then not only that I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong because I need to “save avengers shield for interrupts” per some of your other videos rather than use rebuke, but I also need avenger shield to provide spellblock but wait, there’s more! I also need avenger shield to tag mobs lol Like dude, I need that shield for so many things and the dps are crawling up your poopshooter “pull faster” “pull more” “your pulls are weak ngl” “tank it this way instead” blah blah blah Then you come online and the keyboard warriors poopoo all over you to “git gud” rather than offer anything constructive. It’s enough that I’m borderline about to quit :/
In the first 5-10s of the pull don't worry about saving avenger's shield. Just fire it off. You want to save it for interrupts once you get into the pull itself and everything is gathered because at the start you are trying to get aggro and shield does a good job there. The mastery vs crit thing has to do with spell block. Crit is better against melee attacks iirc but I wouldn't worry about it too much it's not your issue on a 10. Don't drop haste. Weighing interrupt vs spell block is easy. Do you have something you need to spell block coming up? Usually you just have to worry about spell block on bosses / specific mobs. It's a secondary thing to worry about Yoda talks about it a lot because you absolutely need it to live some pulls at high levels but you can take the full hit even on a 12 depending on what it is. In general if you are interrupting anything in packs with your shield you don't need to track the defensives attached to shield - everything there will just happen fine. Don't listen to dps. None of them understand tanking and while they may be able to tell you're playing sub optimally they will never be able to accurately tell you what you should be doing.
@@Defenestrationed appreciate the vote of confidence and constructive criticism. I still don’t understand why using avengers shield as an interrupt seems to take precedence over rebuke. The am trying to incorporate it more as my primary and retrain the muscle memory but having it on the gcd where rebuke is not makes it awkward. I probably do a bit too much dps too if I’m being honest. I’m not trying to “play dps” as a tank but if I stand around, and thus off the gcd so that cd’s/shield are ready to go, I feel like I could be making things go faster. The longer a fight takes, the more chances for mistakes. So it’s like this balancing act where I smash when I can and then stop when I know something is coming up. I definitely am trying to get better and am almost done organizing a static m+ team to alleviate the pug stress but similar expectations will come from the static as we move up the ranks and I need to figure this out. @@toyomade Avenger shield has a rather high chance to reset on hit, like 15-20% or something. So thats one reasno why you wanna use it. If you can sit on rebuke for situations where you don't have the time for AS gcd, then rebuke is amazing! so prioing AS allows you to have rebuke when needed. also due to refining fire AS does quite a bit of dmg, so getting it out as frequent as possible, without screwing you interrupt options is amazing! Further more the block helps you all around - not just spellblock, so having AS up all the time is super giga! The extra crit helps you a ton in melee by parrying stuff - Parrying tainted slash in dawn, shred armor in mists etc.. those things feels amazing!!! but crit is just also by far your stronger dps stat of the 2 :) Also i dunno, but if you play sentinel (reading it it sounds like it will keep you alive better than might, but imo its a bait). Leave Sentinel and play might. More crit= more dmg = more good.. and also longer duration means you get more out of your tierset. And the added crit chance makes wing healing super strong!
