  • Portier Cove, Monaco’s new eco-district is designed as an extension of the Principality’s existing coastline from the Grimaldi Forum to the Formula One tunnel. Portier Cove marks the beginning of a sustainable redevelopment of the eastern territory of Monaco. The new eco-district offers an exclusively pedestrian surface with many elements:
    One hectare public park,
Various public walkways, both along the coast and throughout the district,
A port offering approximately 30 slips
    An underground public car park
Buildings offering both office and retail space
Luxury housing including multi-tenant buildings and private waterfront villas
An extension of the Grimaldi Forum (convention centre).
From inception, each element of Portier Cove has been designed with utmost concern for limiting infringements on the environment. From assessing and preparing the work site, to methods of construction, and sustainable practices for providing energy and utilities to the new buildings; each aspect has been carefully considered to achieve a sustainable and environmentally conscious method of delivering a project of this scale.

Great project but the architecture looks soulless: nothing tying it to its location and culture.

It's Monaco. The culture of Monaco is high concentration of money. This ultramodern soulless all-white architecture fits it well. And I don't mean that as a criticism. I would love to live in one of those villas if I were able to afford it.

I totally agree! And, unfortunately, it's like that in many other parts of the world.
However I've seen worse and I appreciate the green spaces, considering how small the country is.

How Amazing! No matter what kind of French cigarette smoke you blow up the World's ass about how wonderful this is think back what the patron Saint of Oceanography Jacque Custeau would say. He was outraged when they started Fontvieille. Don't you dare talk about how the oceans of the world have to be saved and then in the same breath verbally pat yourself on the back while you do a project for Billionaires. Just come out and Man up and say heh!~! we're building this for Billionaires so tough shit!

I understand that Fontvieille is going to be extended further.

@@63bplumb I didn't say your statement was harsh. All I said was that I understand that the district of Fontvieille is set to be extended.
Is that the case? Are there plants to extend Fontvieille?

@@Andrew-df1dr Didn't think you were saying that at all. But re-reading my first piece I thought it was a little over the top. However Monaco has tried to portrait itself as a world leader in climate involvement. The ocean being a major piece of its concern.
