I used Innisfree for years as my primary brand and I have suuuuuuper sensitive skin. Yeah, the products smell really nice, it's something I love about them, but they smell like their primary ingredient. The orchid line, smells like orchids and the green tea smells like tea. Nature republic has been my favorite brand for 7 years since I moved to Korea! It is actually quite underrated and they have soo many different lines! They have an aqua line, cica, bee venom, snail, and aloe! So there’s definitely something for everyone! Also a lot of these brands you mentioned are not all necessarily popular for their skincare but rather their makeup or haircare, like tonymoly which is mostly popular for its makeup
I advice you to try Tony Moly aloe vera instead of Nature Republic's. Formula is totally different haha (I went to a few stores and Tony Moly was the cleanest formula actually)
Eww no.. not Etude house and Missha. I'm Korean and they are considered cheap store brands popular among pre-teens. I don't think even teenagers purchase these anymore. You wouldn't trust your skin care using Elf skincare if they ever come up with a skincare line..
Absolutely obsessed: Rovectin Clean, Krave Beauty, Isntree I'll still buy it: Then I Met You, Primera, Some by Mi, Dear Klairs, I'm From, Pyunkang Yul, CosRX Squeamish: Dr. Jart, Neogen, The Face Shop, Nature Republic Utter disappointment: Laniege, Keep Cool, Tony Moly, Innisfree, Amore Pacific
Well, I just have to say, I have not tried any other products by them, but as a 55 yr old who baked in the sun and didn’t wear sunscreen regularly until my 40s, the Innisfree UV defense SPF 35 sunscreen is literally the sunscreen that worked well enough for me that I started wearing it religiously every day. No white cast, moisturizing, doesn’t make my eyes water, and works great under makeup.
fun fact about amorepacific- I often am in Korea due to family, and Amorepacific actually owns a ton of land in Jeju where they grow different botanicals (lots of green tea) as organically and away from pollution as possible. Theyre also very transparent about how everything is run and personally handled-the gardens are actually open to the public and you can also buy all the teas they grow! (they also make a great green tea cake haha) It’s definitely one of the most expensive brands (along with Su:m37, Hera, history of whoo, etc), but I have noticed that it is the most popular expensive brand Koreans will buy over comparably priced western skincare brands which are very popular.
I always find it so crazy how skin care works so different for each person 😂 I tried CeraVe a few months ago after seeing everyone raving about it and it literally made me break out so much I had to stop using it after a few months. I even got a rash on my neck that was super itchy and that comes back every other week since then (I’m still trying to get rid of it, any tips? ☹️). But then I started using Innisfree a couple of weeks ago because a friend got me a few samples. And let me tell you, I fell in love so hard that I had to buy more. It had been months since my skin looked this good and hydrated! 🤩💕 I have dry sensitive skin and I don’t really think I’m sensitive to their fragrance, I actually kind of like it. It makes the whole experience of skincare more relaxing to me 🙊
Yes I used the neutrogena blah blah hydroboost gel shit and it gave me 3 pimples in a matter of 2 days !!! I RARELY break out like 4-5 times a YEAR 😢 it was VERY DISAPPOINTING but many other influencers were RAVING bout it
I agree with you. I’ve seen so many bad reviews about Thayer’s witch hazel toner saying it’s drying to the skin. In contrary, my skin really loved the product and I find it to my soothing and hydrating hahaha
This is precisely why I always try to give any skincare product that did not work for me to my friends because it could end up being a holy grail for them. What works for me may not necessarily work for you and vice versa.
exactly, same here! when hyram talked about all the fragrance that innisfree’s products have, i really hoped he would talk more about the ingredients in general because the fragrance doesn’t bother my skin one bit. my skin drinks up their cherry blossom dew gel and their toner mist from the same line like water. also for laneige, my skin loves their cream skin toner+moisturizer
cerave really fucked me up too 😭 and they’re also not cruelty free. I made the switch to Korean skincare recently and it’s been doing wonders for my skin - especially Beauty of Joseon. the innisfree jeju blossom moisturizer is one of my favorites. my skin feels so much more healthy already
I love how supportive everyone in the skincare community is and how clear it is you all speak behind the scenes and band together ( *cough* LOOKING AT YOU KEEP COOL *cough* )
i feel like most brand that were mentioned are the ones the Korean market targets toward the west whereas in actual Korea these brand wouldn't be as popular, I've noticed the same thing in russia, they have brands marketed as Korean that i've never seen a Korean person even talk about

Me too, I bought a notebook where I read about and write down info about different ingredients because somehow it's fun 😂 and I've never liked studying
I actually changed my Cerave cleanser (that I bought after seeing on this chanel) to the Innisfree truecare calamine 6.5 cleanser and I like it better! It's great ony body too~ Also I really agree with your opinion, that lots of big Korean skinfood companies like Tony Moly tries to sell their products with aesthetics, like cutsey stuff that contains shitty ingredients. Not surprising that their stores are slowly disappearing. However I live in Korea but the brands on your list, I actually never heard about 70%of them 😂 I missed some great, big brands from the list like :holikaholika, aestura, skinfood, etude house (the good lines like soon jung or ac clean up) espoir, saem~ They are the popular ones between avarage people based on my observations from skincare ranking sites like Glowpick.

I’ll always be obsessed with Korean Skincare, even with the craze of the “10 step skincare” a few years ago, I don’t understand how they are so underrated!
it depends where are you from... korean skincare is absolutely top popular is asia and i think very popular in us ( because of skincare gurus lol) in europe u can find some products in drugstores BUT the price is high as well not many ppl just buy some serums or mask with "strange" writting on it lol... i am sure if korean brands had huge adds it will become so much more popular
hey hyram! somi, a 19 year-old kpop artist also partnered with harper’s bazaar to show us her nighttime skincare routine. If you ever can, it’d be amazing if you’d react to it! Thank you sm, your advice have literally changed my skin❤️
Hi, just wanted to let you know if you didn’t already, Mixed Makeup did a reaction, if you want to check that one out, you can! th-cam.com/video/1POtpL-fNOI/w-d-xo.html So did James Welsh! th-cam.com/video/otrczmnpSFU/w-d-xo.html Also, love Somi, she’s so funny and such a hardworking idol. She’s been through so much at such a young age.
I wasn’t a fan of Korean brands until last year. The formulas are so amazing, really giving the results people are asking for, the prices are cheaper. For Western brands, the psychology behind is you have to pay the price higher to get the better results. For Korean brands, it is less likely to irritate the skin, there is ‘wow’ or ‘it’s okay’. There’s no inbetween. BUT, sunscreens!!! Their sunscreens are so easy to be obsessed with since applying on their skin.
I am kinda sad that you didn't put the brand 'Missha' into the tierlist. Because their sunscreens are soooo good and I wanted to hear your opinion on them
Thanks Dr Rattan! For sensitive skin, I’d highly recommend a very well-known K-skincare product called “Zeroid Soothing Cream”. In fact, loads of board-certified dermatologists based in S. Korea recommend this product for sure :) This product has an excellent reputation for its MLE technology, which UC San Francisco researchers also approved that it actually helps restoring your skin lipid barrier! I think you should try and review this product some time, please!
One of my fave Korean skincare products is the Missha First Treatment Essence. It’s pretty popular and have been regarded as one of the affordable alternatives to SK-II minus the smell. I also like that the Missha essence has no alcohol or fragrance or essential oils. It doesn’t seem like much at the beginning but after using it for over 5 years consistently, I notice it has made some difference to my skin and does not cause my skin to break out. It’s compatible with most of my other skincare products so far as well.
As soon as he said: "I'm just like, wow, you had so much going for you, you had so much opportunity, and you were set up for success... and you just disappointed all of us." I immediately thought, "KEEP COOL?!" P.S. Other brands that I think should be in Part 2: Purito, IUNIK, Benton, Sioris, Wishtrend, Missha, Beauty of Joseon!
Many of the brands in utter disappointment & squeamish are the Korean equivalent of US entry level drug store brands (think Clean & Clear or Physician’s Formula). Instead of going to your local CVS or pharmacy section of the grocery store, these brands have these tiny shops like you’d see in a mall or strip mall situation, each pumping a different Kpop song. Often there’ll be an employee or 2 standing in front offering free samples or physically guiding people passing by into the store. And since the store is either off a street or doors open to the city air, you have all those fragranced products to give that instant spa-like effect when ppl are testing them. In Korea, brands like Innisfree & Tony Moly are definitely considered more of a brand for students. Not to say adults don’t use them too, but their target market seems more like high school/college + the occasional products that are more Olay-like that young professionals and occasionally moms will use.
You absolutely should make a standalone video about the Purito sunscreen issue. I personally bought it on your recommendation, and only even heard about the lack of actual protection in the product from my sister. I really don't use other forms of social media so I would still be using it now if my sister hadn't told me. I wouldn't be surprised if others are still using it and have no idea about what has happened, and I'm disappointed that you haven't addressed the situation on TH-cam yet considering how much you've pushed and backed the sunscreen in the past. This could be massively damaging people's skin, and you have a responsibility to inform your audience on this platform what has happened.
Not to bring you down or anything but he did talk about it for a couple of times now in his videos, so if you watch him so frequently that you would buy a product just because he mentioned you would also watch his later videos and know about the situation immediately...
We learn about products everywhere, you could've heard it from your friend and still bought it, and if you did that you wouldn't even know about it now. But he does explain it in every video that the brand is mentioned so I don't know what you expect from the man... Like doing a video dramatizing saying I'm so sorry?? He literally didn't know! He can't know that
@@ezgi4652 I expect an obvious, dedicated video with an update and explanation on a product that has been recommended by Hyram time and time again. It's entirely irresponsible not to do so. Not having adequate sun protection is literally dangerous. Which I'm sure you well know, as such an avid follower of Hyrams. You cannot expect people to watch every single video Hyram, or anyone for that matter, puts out. Just because 'stan culture', and obsessive followers exist, doesn't mean that that's the norm. Most people dip in and out, looking for specific information and recommendations. The fact of the matter is that I didn't hear about the product from a friend, I heard it from Hyram, who was financially incentivised to promote it. To not clearly inform his viewers about what has happened is wrong.
heads up for anyone buying isntree, I've ordered the toner from both Amazon and Stylevana, and it's about half the cost on Stylevana!! Also shipping took about 2 weeks either way, so definitely order from a Korean site!
there’s also this Korean skincare brand called Abib that I see no one talking about I don’t rly like their serum things but their moisturizers are amAziNg
I recently purchased a few items from Krave Beauty which I heard from this channel. Yes, yes, and yes. I’m loving that Great Barrier Reef serum for my dry skin and so layer-able. Thanks!
Hyram thank you for all you do! Would you consider talking about MLM skincare products and how shady they are? I have friends who joined Nu Skin and I just wish they would realise how predatory the brands are!
Yessssss great idea and I fully agree!! I have two FB friends now selling Thrive. I explained Im not into MLMs and I am extremely sensitive to caffeine. One told me it would not bother me. 🤬🤬
I'm sorry but Korean Skincare continues to be CRIMINALLY underrated and underappreciated. They're truly head of the curve when it comes to formulation and quality. Cosrx is for sure my favorite skincare brand and even though I know hyram is really not for fragrance I love Glow Recipe too!

him missing purito and iunik i feel like speaks him trying to put out a lot of videos quickly. Wish he double checked since he missed youth to the people and biossance in his overall ranking video too
I think he's gonna put them either "I'll buy it" or "absolutely obsessed"..he made a review video for both brands and he keep praising the brand throughout the entire video and he even said that purito is his favourite k-brand(but idk how he felt now since the spf controversy)
I'd love the impossible... a list of rad products with great ingredients without a filter of fear over essential oils (i'm a big fan & so is my skin) and price (price to me is not a factor I judge a product on) since I judge on quality, ethics & energy. Yet still, adore you, Hyram!
Hey Hyram! The Face Shop actually does have a line thats fragrance free and essential oil free. Its also dermatologically tested as well. Its called the Dr Belmeur line, with a clarifying line and a cica line to treat both oily and dry skin. Innisfree does have some fragrance free products as well! Both the bija cica balm and bija cica gel emphasise on Centella Asiatica for wound healing and acne scar healing. Definitely recommend them!
Not 15 year old me having a bunch of skincare products suggested by Hyram on my shopping list but waiting until I’m 20 because I’m too scared to ask my parents to buy me some-
Ask them for the basics and get a job at 16 and earn the money yourself, when I was 15 I wanted to take care of myself way more than anyone in my family has so I got myself a job and worked for it
if i had to pick only one brand of skincare from any country in the world that i will have to use for the rest of my life for all steps in my routine, it'll be isntree and wouldn't even think twice. they have a decent range, all products are clean and non-irritating, they work, and they don't break the bank. so underrated.
I had mild to moderate acne most of my life, and Korean skin care has helped my skin more than anything else I’ve ever used, I’m basically clear now. I have oily and sensitive skin, so a lot of traditional acne products destroyed my skin over the years. Really think that Niacinamide and centralla were the game changers for me.

hyram, please don't apologize when you feel like you're giving a "hot take" on a brand or a product!! we all come here to hear about *your* experience with these things and i don't think there's anything nothing wrong having a negative or different opinion than everyone else. we've all been there - buying a product that's raved about and it has about the same effect as me slapping some water onto my face. if anything i appreciate your honesty and transparency, that's one of the many reasons why i started subscribing to you in the first place :) my acne journey's been 10+ years in the making, and honestly my skin's started being the best it's ever been since i began watching your videos. so thank you!!
So I went to Sephora to buy a couple things you recommended and a worker was trying to sell laneige to me..I said no thanks it has fragrance in it and I don’t use products with fragrance. She said “then you’re not going to find any products without fragrance” made me laugh 😂
I wish a lot of people knew about Luxe Organix. It's a great Korean skincare brand that offers tons of products and they specify some of their products to our skin types. Hoping Hyram will notice this🤞
Personally my skin is super sensitive, dry, oily as I have Eczema and I've noticed that everyone's skin is different so we react differently but mine can tolerate fragrance plus some very natural products without any fragrance isn't always accepted by my skin. I've been using the Wonder Bath Super Vegitoks Cleanser for years and I looooveeee it especially the red one. The Korean brands I really love compiled below : Obsessed - Dear, Klairs, I'm From, Wonder Bath, Pureheal's, Natural Pacific. Still Buying - Cosrx Squeamish - Some By Mi, Pyunkang Yul, Yadah. Utterly Disappointed - Laneige, Tony Moly, The Face Shop, Innisfree, Nature Republic. A very interesting hair care products brand I'm using and obsessed about which I've noticed really helps to get rid of itch or sensitive skin issues is a Japanese brand called Moist Diane. I use many of their products and it amazes me how quickly my oily, itchy, sensitive issues due to Eczema gets under control. Just hope I found the brand sooner. But life is really good now though 🙃💜
I love Korean skincare and watching Hyram talking about products, that he does not like because they are fragranced, makes me go like "well i have to try it then". I LOVE frangrance in skincare and i am almost sad when there is not one product, that i use in my routine, that has a nice scent... So thanks for pointing that out every single time :P
I wanna see a video where Hyram shows us his skincare hoard/collection. He references it in every other video and I got to know how bad the addiction really is.
I watch your videos all the time here in Korea! I haven’t tried any of your top 3 brands before. Krave Beauty is however sold out here every time I check 😩 when I knew nothing about skin care, I always bought everything from innisfree. One day I went to the Gangnam branch and showed them my membership card while paying to receive the special discount and promotions, I had a toooon of points and they told me “no, this is a Korean people discount only.” I was shocked, I had spent ridiculous amounts of money in their stores and am a resident here. Thank God it happened though, it forced me to research proper skin care and then I found your channel! Thank you for being so informative!
It’s not that the UV filters aren’t as effective as the brands thought! The concentrations were just way too low. The filters themselves are actually very good
I tried The Face Shop before and omg, my skin started breaking out so I stopped using it! I thought Korean skincare is not meant for me until I tried CosRx. Cleared my skin (except for their BHA Blackhead Power Liquid)
The amount of happiness I felt when I saw the brands I use daily in "absolutely obsessed" and "I'll still buy it" 'cause I have to confess I was a bit afraid to watch this when I read the title 😂
i remember before i started watching hyram i usdd to use coconut oil and think it was doing wonders but boy was i wrong. thank u hyram for helping me out ILUSM!!!
Aweee I am so sad about Innisfree ;-; their green tea line has helped me SO MUCH, specially the serum! I have SUPER SENSITIVE skin (like seriously…’goes red with anything’ type of sensitive) so it surprises me that you say it is irritant yet it doesn’t redden me :0 i am sorry it didn’t work for you :(
React to TOLERIANE from La Roche Posay it is literally the best range ever . i used to use cerave's moisturising lotion but my skin after using retinol got irritated so my dermatologist gave me toleriane's night cream and toleriane's cleansing milk and i am obsessed it's literally the best range ever .
I would love to see a review of Skin Republic’s products. They are a Korean brand that mostly does face masks, eye masks, etc. and they are HUGE here in Australia.
I solved the problem of spam calls by removing my number from the "phone book". The people who should have my number, already have it so no reason to have my name and phone out there for scammers to get it.
So…. I happened upon one of your videos about skincare differences aaaaaannnnndddd now I’m subscribed!! You’re answering so many of my questions right now! I’m so happy 😁
I started using Rovectin Clean’s Lotus Water Cream after seeing the recommendation in one of your videos. I’m combination skin and adding this moisturizer was the best!! P.S You get pretty stickers with these!!
I recommend Dr.Different. It is super hyped up brand in Korea right now, because Retinol or Retinal wasn't that popular here but their products are not harsh or sensetising the skin. please try and review them :)

fun fact about amorepacific- I often am in Korea due to family, and Amorepacific actually owns a ton of land in Jeju where they grow different botanicals (lots of green tea) as organically and away from pollution as possible.
You should do a video ranking "clean" beauty brands and if they actually have good products
CosRX and Dear Klairs are two Korean brands that haven’t done me any wrong, ever.
Ever!!
Same here and Rovectin too
SAME, Klairs literally saved my skin, Klairs and Cosrx are my go too

i feel like most brand that were mentioned are the ones the Korean market targets toward the west whereas in actual Korea these brand wouldn't be as popular, I've noticed the same thing in russia, they have brands marketed as Korean that i've never seen a Korean person even talk about

This I needed! I am obsessed with Korean skincare it has changed my skin so much!!! k-beauty has introduced me to so many good ingredients and spfs!
It's worth of mention that Innisfree, Laneige and Dr Jart are not Cruelty-free.
I think I need to try more of Isntree this year 🙌🏻
Innisfree is cruelty free
you know what, I’m really thinking about becoming a skin care esthetician. after watching your videos, I think I’ve found something I’m actually passionate about. 😭😭💜

Speaking of Korean skin care, I’m interested in his opinions on Etude House’s Soon Jung line
I'd love your opinion on Etude house also. I love them, but???
Same! I’m currently using the x2 barrier intensive cream and I really like it!

9:42 Glad that hyram took a stand against the bullying towards his fellow youtubers and content creators. 👍🏻
Because their sunscreens are soooo good and I wanted to hear your opinion on them
Love their sunscreen.

As soon as he said: "I'm just like, wow, you had so much going for you, you had so much opportunity, and you were set up for success... and you just disappointed all of us." I immediately thought, "KEEP COOL?!"
P.S. Other brands that I think should be in Part 2: Purito, IUNIK, Benton, Sioris, Wishtrend, Missha, Beauty of Joseon!
Also IOPE, and Skin&Lab

“Utter Disappointment” SIS DID NOT HOLD BACK BUT POP OFF
Many of the brands in utter disappointment & squeamish are the Korean equivalent of US entry level drug store brands (think Clean & Clear or Physician’s Formula).
I was hoping you would include Etude House in it. Their “Soonjung” line have some nice formulas in my own opinion.
I especially love their cica balm during this pandemic 😷
^^
i quite like the wonder pore stuff!!
Yes!! Their Soonjung moisturizer is my holy grail.

Hyram thank you for all you do! Would you consider talking about MLM skincare products and how shady they are? I have friends who joined Nu Skin and I just wish they would realise how predatory the brands are!

I'm a little surprised Purito didn't make this list. He has really raved about them in the past. I know there was some controversy about their sunscreen, but as I understand it they were really classy about how they handled it. He loved their other products.
him missing purito and iunik i feel like speaks him trying to put out a lot of videos quickly. Wish he double checked since he missed youth to the people and biossance in his overall ranking video too
He meantioned purito referenced the scandal but then didn’t rank them or iunik which he has recommended
I think he's gonna put them either "I'll buy it" or "absolutely obsessed"..he made a review video for both brands and he keep praising the brand throughout the entire video and he even said that purito is his favourite k-brand(but idk how he felt now since the spf controversy)
Missha also...
I'd love the impossible... a list of rad products with great ingredients without a filter of fear over essential oils (i'm a big fan & so is my skin) and price (price to me is not a factor I judge a product on) since I judge on quality, ethics & energy. Yet still, adore you, Hyram!
I'm pretty surprised that he didn't rank iunik or purito considering that he made separate videos for them. Also Missha is huge in the US

Hey Hyram! The Face Shop actually does have a line thats fragrance free and essential oil free. Its also dermatologically tested as well. Its called the Dr Belmeur line, with a clarifying line and a cica line to treat both oily and dry skin.

if anything i appreciate your honesty and transparency, that's one of the many reasons why i started subscribing to you in the first place :) my acne journey's been 10+ years in the making, and honestly my skin's started being the best it's ever been since i began watching your videos. so thank you!!
The Korean brands I really love compiled below :
Obsessed - Dear, Klairs, I'm From, Wonder Bath, Pureheal's, Natural Pacific.
Still Buying - Cosrx
Squeamish - Some By Mi, Pyunkang Yul, Yadah.
Careful you don't get fragrance allergy. People get it from using fragrance on their face too often
The dear klairs AHA soap is so overlooked and underrated. It’s a good exfoliant for oily skin and I use it twice a week.
I bought the Cosrx Snail Mucin Serum because of you and it does so much for me! So thank you 🙌🏻❤️
I wanna see a video where Hyram shows us his skincare hoard/collection.
