Deep in the Southern French countryside, an enchanting castle rises amidst its surrounding vineyards.
Originally, it was the second estate of Paul, who married Simone, the daughter of a famous painter refined in symbolism from that era.
Paul was a senior French civil servant and a collector of works of art, and he had 3 children together with his wife. In the 1960s, he passed away and the estate was passed on to their youngest son: Jean-Pierre.
Jean-Pierre followed in his father's footsteps and worked as a General Engineer of Armaments, and after years of hard work, he was awarded the title of Officer of the Legion of Honor. Moreover, he had a great passion for archeology and collected all kinds of remains.
But that was not everything. Just like his great-grandparents, he followed the age-old family tradition of wine making and continued to do so until very late in life, until the age of 92-years old, when also he passed away.
The historic estate now stood abandoned and over the years, only a shadow of its former grandeur remained. The situation is currently so bad that while we were exploring, looters came inside and were stealing and loading their van. Yet, there is nobody who cares or actively watches or closes the castle.
You might wonder: How could such a rich piece of heritage get to this point?
For that, we need to dig into the archives.
Even though everything looked so rosy and Jean-Pierre was doing well, a downside took place just one year before his death, dooming the building’s desolation. After accumulating sky-high debts and evading taxes, a judicial liquidation process was initiated against him. Around the end of 2023, the judicial process was finally closed as the State claimed the entire property in exchange for the liquidation of his debts. And ever since, things have gone terribly downward for the property and it has slowly turned into a paradise for looters.
Join us as we delve into the depths of this once-proud fortress, unraveling the mysteries of its decline and cherishing the remnants of its fading beauty before it succumbs entirely to the ravages of time.

I'll join in and help. These places make me sad..It boggles my mind that if there is no one to claim it and apparently the county could care less. It should be open to people who wants to save these items. I would love and cherish everything.

How does a place like this not have all its valuables stolen. The Art, furniture, silk curtains even selvaging the marble fireplaces, chandeliers and fine architectural features. If only I were a wealthy man I’d buy this place and bring it back to life, event better than before. It’s heartbreaking to see this beautiful home without it’s soul. 😢

Very sad idead I heard that the hefty inherentance taxes cause any surviving relatives from inherenting and living in these once grand homes or sometimes they get stuck in court for years the relatives fighting over the property and or it's contents and assets 😢 Its sad they then fall into disrepair and literally fall apart 😕

Hey Maureno from team Explomo I had to rewatch this video, because I found it already during the lifestream so very interesting and fascinating. Although there are besides some traces of natural decay the horrible results of the despicable activities of looters and vandals visible, you pointed out the very beautiful details with your camera. Wonderful chandeliers, exquisit furniture with intricate carvings and a lot of smaller antiques are still intact and a great pleasure to see! - I really admire your deep respect for the background story and the interior of that manoir. Therefor the sensless disrespectful and destructive activities made me on the other hand very sad, when it becomes visible, what brainless vandalism can do to such a historically interesting property!

perhaps for the nice mounted ceiling speakers. They had a look,
but devices like this were state of the art audiophile gear.

I am in Australia and we don't have this sort of history in a relatively new country. It is so sad to see such a beautiful place left to be ruined. I do hope someone can save what is left one day 😢

Thank you for taking us on these amazing adventures. I love the fact that you show respect for these places and for things that belong to others. It breaks my heart to see vandals trash such beautiful places. The Bible says" thou shall not steal". Just because its been left behind doesn't give them permission to take it.
For every place you show makes me wish I was rich to be able to return them back to their glory they once were.

Im afraid that if i were to come across a place like this, I would bring some trash bags, gloves, empty boxes, some tools, some cleaning supplies & a big truck & start clearing it out & restore it.

It takes an extreme lack of morals and ethics to smash and steal the possessions of a deceased person! I also do explorations, and I wouldn't even dream of doing that to someone's property!
