    As a bigger girl with an admittedly strange shape, "body type" videos always give me pause, but I really loved the way you handled this! Giving us options on what can highlight or reduce specific areas is a great way to go about it, I wish more people talked about it this way! Always love your fashion stuff 💜

    As a skinny person, I had to accept that due to my body shape, dressing baggier and androgynous looks better on me. I give off a masculine vibe so dressing too girly is a no-go but I do like combining some girly items with masculine ones!

    • @emeraldwhite7506
      @emeraldwhite7506 ปีที่แล้ว +84

      @Pamela Falls yeah same, I look better in more mature (womanly) clothes than in cute girly clothes. Having a balance of masculine/ feminine is key for me. If I pick to much masculine I look like a man. to feminine I just look out of place and dorky.

      And with my body type, I eventually learned I feel more comfortable and confident when I don’t wear skin tight shirts and jeans. I have more broad shoulders and a wider ribcage that generally doesnt give a lot of emphasis on my waist and hips. So, I eventually learned i prefer looser items whether it’s loose/baggy jeans, flowy and a-line skirts and dresses, or oversized tees and blouses. As a petite person (5”2), I always read midi lengths were unflattering since they made us look “shorter” but I actually LOVE midi lengths and think it makes me look way more streamlined and tbh taller! With broad shoulders, i agree with Jasmine’s advice on preferring to stray away from large sleeves (like flutter sleeves or puffy sleeves). They’re not my favorite but can definitely be a moment, but im gravitating more towards thin straps that lay a bit wider on the shoulders.
      Honestly clothes are just so fun! I never would’ve known all this about my body if i didnt get into thrifting and trying on a BUNCH of clothes. Figuring out how to dress your own body type is so much more freeing than following conventional trends

    • @bunnywavyxx9524
      @bunnywavyxx9524 ปีที่แล้ว +49

      you dont need a body type to dress girly :) you can dress any way you want, that being said as a skinny person with long legs (like 60% of my body) low waist will inevitably give the same effect as high waist. If you're a tall girl you'll look tall no matter what I think. I also dont feel like I have the body type to dress super girly, I have broad/wide shoulders but I prefer skin-tight clothing. My chest is medium-sized though so I'm not always the right candidate. Loose/baggy tops look better.

    I want to add some tips for all the girlies with a small waist, but big thighs, hips and butts because finding cute bottoms that fit and flatter our bodies can be a struggle for us. It took me years to figure out what bottoms work for my body.
    Common struggles when bottom shopping is gapping in the waist, but at the same time tightness around the thighs and hips. My recommendation is to opt for low or mid rise as you won’t have to worry about gapping at the waist. Having the horizontal line of the jeans stop at the widest part of our hips can also helps accentuate our beautiful hips because it draws the eyes to that line so if you want to show off your hips that’s a great option.
    If you don’t want to draw extra attention to your hips or you’re not comfortable with low rise pants there are also brands that sell high waist pants specifically made for curvy bodies with smaller waists. Since the band of high waist pants stop at the smallest part of your torso it brings people’s eyes to your waist and makes it appear smaller, but also draws the attention away from the hip area.
    I think flared and bootcut styles are great for balancing out the thickness of the thighs and hips as they don’t add any additional with on the hips and thighs, but instead widens the bottom half of the legs making the legs look more equally sized all the way down. The style also give the illusion of length and help draw the eye down and away from the hip area.
    I like to avoid high straight leg jeans as they can often fit too tightly around the thighs while also gapping at the waist. The style of straight leg jeans are intended to be equally tight or loose all the way down the leg, but on thicker thighs they don’t have the same effect. Instead opt for slightly tapered jeans as they will fit much better around big thighs. On big thighs the tapered shape actually give the same effect as straight leg jeans give on people with smaller thighs.
    I also recommend pants with pleats in the front as the pleats leave extra room for your thighs.
    I also know how much of a struggle shorts can be, especially sitting in them. I always opt for longer shorts. Shorts that stop at the widest part of the thighs can not only draw attention to that area, but also squeeze our thighs when we sit down. Longer shorts don’t create as much of an issue when sitting down and are therefore a lot more comfortable. Another advice when it comes to comfortability when sitting down is to avoid shorts with cuffs as the extra layers of fabric at the hem of the shorts can make them extra tight when you sit down. I also recommend picking thinner and softer or stretchier materials over thick, structured materials that don’t stretch. A pair of float linen shorts are a great alternative to jeans, they look just as cute and can be dressed up or worn more casually. You can also skip shorts altogether and go for skirts instead if you want to. With skirts you don’t have to worry about wether or not it’s gonna squeeze your thighs once you sit down.
    I really hope I was able to help someone with these tips. I’m always happy to give advice.

      Okay so I have big thighs plus big hips and the same gapping problem but I'm also short....so somehow when I wear bootcut jeans I look shorter??? Idk how to explain it but even with heels it just looks off? What can I do to get that illusion of long long-balanced legs ????

    • @ghosty7189
      @ghosty7189 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      @@sonapahadiya1453heyy im also really short and I’ve released that all low-rise will always make you look shorter if you already have short legs. but you can kinda work around it by having long flairs basically covering your feet, which helps make your legs look longer. also the flair should start under your knees which also helps make the legs look longer
      hope this helps a bit xx

    • @JaeyunYD05

      For a more comfy but still flattering option, high-waisted flared leggings both hug the curves and make you look taller. Since most leggings have a little bit of a stretch, it won't be uncomfy to sit down in or eat a lot. Hope this helped!

    I’ve been needing a new swimsuit so I’ve been looking at what styles would flatter my body type. I found SO MANY sites telling me I should NEVER wear certain regular clothes because they will make me look fat or short and it was honestly so annoying. A lot of them won’t even use the same model for “wrong” and “right” and sometimes the “wrong” looks better than the “right” one. So thank you so much for not doing that and understanding that rules are ment to be broken

    So so so hyped that you touched on this topic! Was literally chatting to my friend about this yesterday and how I (at this grown woman age of 24 lol) am only now learning how to dress for my body type! It can be difficult especially when there are so many trends circulating that you wanna try. And that's one thing I love about fashion- the fact that it's genuinely an opportunity to experiment and express your creativity. And for me personally I am finding balance in accepting that while something may be objectively cute or trendy, it doesn't automatically mean I am going to feel confident in that item and that is okay- because that is the fun part about experimenting with fashion- you come to discover not only what style you're attracted to, but also how to make it look good on you!

    puff sleeve tops are actually good for somebody with like "thicker" shoulders because it can drown out the shape. maybe not broad, but I have pretty thick shoulders and square neck tops and puff sleeves do me a favor by making my shoulders less apparent for some reason. if you have this issue the worst is just like tube tops and plain tank tops that don't accentuate the waist to show the contrast in size. I also don't like anything tight up there

    I think this video finally helped me realize why high rise jeans aren't working that well for me even though I have a long torso and a mostly hourglass figure (so every style guide recommends them for me): my natural waist is very high, much closer to my breasts than my hips. Bc of this, even the highest of high rises doesn't actually sit at my waistline. This has the effect of drawing the line in the wrong place, making my waist look larger than it is and failing to flatter my hips. Conversely, I suspect when I wear lower rise jeans with a form fitting top, my waist is shown off while my hips are also emphasized, creating a much more flattering effect.
    Sorry for the rant, but it was just quite eye-opening to realize this and I wanted to share in case it helps anyone else with a similar body shape!

    • @KOOKlEDOUGH
      @KOOKlEDOUGH ปีที่แล้ว

      @@indre4151 i like them to cut around 3-5 cm above my hipbone, also making sure they cut where ur legs start instead of having a lowered crotch area makes them look better too! i wear looser fitted or flared jeans and find that like jasmine having the legs be a bit too long helps too! wearing them with belts also looks great! or i like to style them with baggier tees or sweaters and then tuck in just the front, so u still get the effect of the elongated legs. one trap i used to fall into was getting them too high waisted when that isn’t really needed to create the effect, and for me if they’re too high i get the boxy effect as well. i hope this was helpful im not as good at wording it as jasmine😅

    i'm a medium/large girly, (actually im close to marilyn monroe's measurements, which totally changed my mindset of my body tho her hips are slightly bigger than mine and my bust is a little bitter than hers) i hate how large my bust is and i always felt stupid for disliking it bc everyone i met told me i was "lucky" well sister you can have em.
    anyways i really liked this video and it helped me a lot!

      I used to have serious bust jealousy since I was always a little below average, but I've come to realize I'm actually really lucky. Big chested girlies have so many struggles, and have to be so strong to deal with it. Wishing you the best queen
