Our first time watching The Walking Dead Webisode: In this webisode "Red Machete" we see the journey of the machete that Rick used against Gareth! An amazing journey with almost no words that really made us feel for the young girl Mandy. Thank you all for recommending this to us.

The bag that joe put the machete in you can see Rick carrying that bag and even Buried it when at terminus I really like that detail.
It is so intriguing how a story can be told without words.
It was in the bag they hid outside terminus. Remember, he told garreth it last, cus that's what he promised to kill him with. Then Rick fulfilled his promise in the church.
I watched the entire series a few times but rewatching it now feels SO Special!
Season 4A is mainly the illness at the prison
4x08 Too Far Gone is the episode with Governor and Herschel
4B is them heading to terminus
5A is them finding Gabe and the Beth Arc
5B is Alexandria
6A is the Walker Herd
6B is the introduction to the saviors.

The Governor's background and back story are found, not in the comics, but in a trio of novels that are Audible format as well regular print format. The Rise of the Govenor, The Road to Woodbury, The Fall of The Governor.
Season 2 the farm is also my favorite! You're right, it's not a popular opinion. Most people say season 5 and think the farm was boring. But the character development in season 2 seems unmatched and when there is action, it's always meaningful, like in the episode Nebraska when Rick kills those two dudes in the bar. It's a huge character moment following one of the most impressive exchanges between two characters, Herschel and Rick.

Well, maybe his 2nd favorite weapon, his hand cannon, is hard to argue that gun is bad-ass! I think the cannon is graat for a heard of walkers, but the machete is perfect for close up, 'you hurt my family' kind of killing. Lol.
You'd think it would be the other way around, but Rick is a one of a kind. 🤘😁

You want more Webisodes and everyone agreed when this came out. The reason why no more came out is because it became it's own show, Tales of the Walking Dead. So there's more out there and look forward to it. You also talked about wanting to know The Governors story. That became it's own book called Rise of the governor that most fans haven't touched because they don't know it exists.
I don't think them novels are set in the shows universe tho, I think they're set in the comics timeline.

I keep forgetting that you're a few episodes ahead. When you brought up about Negan and Shiva, it threw me off. Same with Michonne and Rick eating the ready to eat meal and also when you said about how you waited till the end of season 7. LOL!

Love the farm season. It was slow but built characters and had excitement. Screw the governor. Negan is one of a kind
funny you mention webisodes you want to see, and the governor and his daughter, there was actually a series of novels that starts with the perspective of the governor with his brother and daughter and how he becomes the way he becomes, the story shifts in the second book to his love interest Lily Caul and what she does after his death at the prison. I believe there were 7 or 8 books. I only read the first 2 books, but the first one was a masterpiece in writing, and Kirkman contributed to writing I believe the first 3 (?). Anyways, the first book is the tragic backstory of the Governor, and the 2nd and 3rd are the fall of the governor (I think that's the name of one of them) and then the novels shift to Lily's character and wherever she ends up after killing him. I also believe they're canon to the show and not the comics.
This is really great I hope maybe they will continue some of these webisodes characters stories
I think that one has to be a big fan of apocalyptic themed shows as it's really more about the survival and how a character navigates through it without losing their humanity more than the scary creatures that are out there as the true monsters are those other survivors who have lost their humanity or never had it to begin with.

Oddly enough, I'd never seen this. It's REALLY good. I always thought all the 'notice the red machete' comments were because Rick said he was gonna use it to kill Gareth.
Wow, I forgot how well done Red Machete is. I like how they used graphic novel style to feature the main cast.
I hope we get to see writing like that again some day in new TWD content.

I never had the time to play it so I watched the game play one weekend and loved it!
I did the same with The Last of Us and Days Gone.
I think mid-season 4 from the death of the governor to 6 has awesome episodes. Rick ripping the dudes throat out, Carol saving them from terminus, Alexandria being overrun by the hoard. Plus our group was at its peak! But, I loved the characters from 1&2 Dale, Shane.... I miss them even though I wish Shane died before Dale. Just because Shane expected Dale to die 1st.
The overall worst season that I hear people say is season 7 but I can't see that because it was great
I heard some people say that season 7 and 8 where not as great as the earlier season because it was much more slower then the seasons before and after I didn’t like those two seasons on first watch but rewatching it I actually enjoy those 2 seasons.

@@crizle5259 I enjoyed season 8 I just hated how I had to wait for each episode and that what made it slow for me and a lot of people watching the season with not having to wait is much better and I like season 8 but not as much as the other seasons same with season 7.

The comics don't really delve much deeper than the show does. Honestly the show gives a lot more backstory in most cases. But there is a whole series of novels about the governor's backstory
There is only one word spoken in this, its when the claimer kills the walker carrying the machete he says "Claimed".
I really wish the webisodes would get released with the Blu Rays. Other shows include the webisodes on their home releases like Breaking Bad.
They could release them with the Tales of the Walking Dead Blu Ray.
Which hopefully comes out soon as I've still yet to see it. They make it hard to watch the Spin Offs on Ireland

The Governor is pretty different from the comics, but he serves the same purpose.
you should watch Tales of the Walking Dead That's so cool and don't really relate to the walking Dead but you should probably wash it after season 10

Beautifully said! I feel exactly the same way about the show. From the moment of the pilot on Halloween night in 2010 until the last episode of the series, I never loved a series as I do this.

Rob!!!! I've seen every episode of everything Walking Dead and spin off. Been to set even! And season 2 is by far the best. It was all the character development of the main cast happens here. The slow was perfect! Season one was the new girl you were dating and liked. Season two, you fell in love with her.

Before you drive yourselves crazy over it, no the red machete wasn't picked up by someone we know. It's another unknown survivor roaming the wasteland. The machete will endlessly pass from owner to owner. The show brilliantly hints at other stories that happened with clues like a crime scene. Here we actually get to see a fraction of this object's history play out.

also I would totally recommend reading the comics, the compendiums are the best way to go. the story is generally the same, but as it goes on there's some very big differences and then towards the end besides main plot points they're very different stories with different characters. but the comics are amazing, you guys should also check out Amazon Prime's Invincible.

There are several books (novels) by Kirkman and another guy that tell the Governor's story. The storyline is kind of different from the TV show, but explains his motivation overall.

I truly liked season 2 as I enjoyed watching the characters really develop but my favorite is probably season 4 with season 5 close behind.

When I first saw this webisode I felt it was lame that they filmed in California instead of Georgia. You can see, it's obvious from the topography. That turned me off and seemed cheap and inauthentic. But seeing it through your enthusiastic eyes, I could appreciate it the second time around. Thanks for sharing!

I can’t decide what seasons are my favourite at all, I even immensely enjoy the commonly “disliked or disappointing” season 8! I also didn’t wait through regular tv I binged it too so they definitely blur together a bit BUT I love seasons 4 with the governor and terminus and such!!! Season 9-11 are also really fun in my opinion!
I’ve never read the comics but I have read the trilogy of full length novels that tell the full story of the Governor that is about the comic version of the character. Highly recommend them.

The comics give you a lot of insight into how different the TV series is from the original source material. I borrowed the comics from the free public library. The farm is so good, some of the best acting and writing IMO. That was when Frank Darabont was in charge (The green Mile, Shawshank Redemption)
Season 7 is very much like season 2 , it's about character development not constant action
Yes, people dropped out after S7, but many more people left after S8, yet again, because of something that happens. I won't spoil it, but it's another tough situation. Fortunately, the show gets even better in S9! Hang in there. There's a lot of show still to go! 🤘😁

I'm not sure which season is my favorite, but this is definitely my favorite webisode.
Season 6 has always been my favorite, it has the best cast of characters. Season 5 has a great cast, but season 6 adds Morgan, and has a big turn for both Gabriel and Eugene, as well as everyone that was in season 5. After the Negan line up, the cast of the show would never be the same again, despite the fact that it is still very good.
There’s a piece of me that considers everything of the show my head cannon, but there’s a piece of me that also stops the story at the battle of Alexandria, season 6 episode 9.
I would say the Governor is a textbook psychopath, who played a role to get by in society. Negan is more of a sociopath, driven by legitimate beliefs, crazy as they are, he has a carefully constructed philosophy, and genuine emotion in certain circumstances, much more than the Governor had.

Yeah season 7-12 is pretty much just silly unrealistic fantasy BS. I grew up watching this show since 2010 when I was in elementary school now I’m 20 years old. Not trying to spoil it bc it’s just a matter of personal opinion but I believe the show started to lose its heart here .
