I started wearing masks in my hood as fashion. Some friends and others laughed at me and said if i was a pupil of kakashi😀. I just dont care and a month later half of them wear also one haha
This guy really got the points. Maybe because of his experience lives in Japan. Im also started to know a little bit about creating your own style in during my study in Japan
I've watch this episode way back when the casual was still growing. But did not take Reggie's tips seriously. Just right about now like ironically youtube's algorithm suggested it to me. Now that i come to realized i've wasted a lot of money on buying different piece on different kinds of aesthetics. I've been through most of it. Minimal, Techwear, Avantgarde, Sporty. Utilitarian etc. Because i like them all. Stupid thing is, i wore half of them just once and some i did not wear them at all. and just sell them half the price to get some money back. Now i am having a identity crisis on what two fashion style that i just really want to focus. every bit of advice on this video is on point. i can relate to it more than ever. Thank you Reggie hope to catch you someday when i got back to Japan. More success to the channel brother.
I'd add that after you hone in on what you like and what your style, don't be afraid to evolve! Your style should grow with you and your experiences in life
I respect your views and style a lot. I do hope you keep doing videos for a while as your take on fashion and the world is always fresh, really mature, and valid. Thank you for this channel and I hope that you don't get affected by the weirder people on this platform. Hats off to your hard work!!!
Its taken me about a year to get a good sense of fashion, what looks good on me, and feels good. Now I just have to go and get them. The hardest part will be committing to high quality pieces, that i cant get all at once, and trying to slowly replace the items I currently have.
when you work in an environment that requires 'professional' clothing, it can get pretty ugly at times...only recently i've been starting to infuse an inch my own taste into the mix - these videos are useful!
Already lovin' Season 3. Great tips here. Breaks it down easy. I would add: DIY/Consider Thrifting - especially effective for a period-based style ('80's, '90's), thirfting can be a cheep and interesting way to build your wardrobe.
Everything your mentioning totally applies to edc items as well. Im just dipping into fashion now as a pocket jewelry designer, I feel like it finally needs to rub off on the rest of the outfit. Do you get into the edc world at all? Carry a folding knife? If so what kind?
Its basically fashion deep cuts am i right? lol most people never see any of the gear in my pocket, but its satisfying to know that the G10 matches the drapes. Would love to see an episode of the casual featuring some of the truely unique and iconic japanese folders and the outfits they go good with. (mcusta, almar, spyderco, glennwaters, higonokami, etc)
I spent way too much on things I don't wear so #2 is way too relatable now. I now invest in long-term pieces that I know will always look good rather than a ton of random trendy things that add up in price and I'll likely rock once.
I have a little scenario that I need advice on I don't really have a style right now and want to find one, and I started to do some research on brands located both near me in the USA and in the West Tokyo fashion wards(下北沢、渋谷、原宿・神具前). Should I: A) Do extensive research to the point that I know exactly what store, brand, and style I want when I shop; and where every store is located and exactly where to go? B) Do enough research that I somewhat know what I'm looking for but I base it more on if I like the garment itself and just find general areas for what I want? C) Something different because I have no clue what I'm doing to be honest. So far I've been doing alot of "A" but I feel like "B" might be better. Anyways, I love your videos, they're great for people like me starting to get into streetwear/fashion!
My flex wear is my 3versace t shirt,2versace polo, levis 511 jeans and Jordan 1 bread and royals...my Versace shirts and polo are older than 5 years with minimum fading. I don't own really any new pieces all my stuff is at least 2 years or older b4 I really wear it ..but like Reggie said high quality over quantity and if u take care of ur stuff it should last a very long time
Yo , i know this isn't probably out of your theme or not your usual topic. But can you make a japanesr fashion for hijab or hijab fashion video? I love your videos they are dope. I want to change my style and hoping for some inspiration
As always quality content. I wish more "hypebeasts" would take your advice and put some thought into fits instead of rocking head to toe all over designs bc they don't know how to piece together outfits unless they have the same exact design on them. To each his own but to me when I see someone like Mark Gonzales, who has unlimited access to Supreme, but mixes and matches to create a unique look. I think his style is way better than most of these "hypebeasts" who purchase only what is "hype" aka popular. What happened to originality and individuality?
Shouts to individuality. I’m gonna be in Tokyo in March and want to do a little shopping but with a tight budget, what do you recommend as far as shops for street wear?
Heat Pursuit I would say just go get off the station in harajuku or shibuya and get lost in the city dude you'll find some really amazing stuff that way (:
Heat Pursuit yea actually save up and only buy 1 piece per year and make that a classic to you. If you really listen to what Reggie was saying you would not have to ask this question I wish you the best.
Myles Brown you bugging, I’d rather put that money towards great food and great experiences style ain’t important enough to break my wallet for. I don’t need to buy high end clothes to get the high style look I’m perfectly happy with dressing according to my budget.
Heat Pursuit I get that I’m not saying to kill your budget but there are rare classic pieces out there that stand the test of time that are worth having. If your style is not your lifestyle than I agree stick to what makes you happy. I would much rather have experiences as well but to visit Japan and grab a sweet piece that you can always look back on with nostalgia is kinda cool also.
Do you ever dress up even though you know you’re staying home all day? Like how do you dress at home? Are you fashionable? Or just dressed lazily but comfortable? Idk why I got this scenario on my mind lol
yo, great video as always. it would be great if you could work on focusing better on Reg's face. You don't need expensive gear for that, just dial it in and you're set. Do you even have a camera operator in these scenes or is it just the man?
It's crazy to me that some of the viewers of this video are clueless to these concepts and guide lines. It's pretty common sense to me, but nonetheless this is still great advice.
Amen. Fashion is seasonal. Style is perennial. Buy what you like and wear it as long as you like it. Buy what others like and wear it only as long as they like it. ;-)
can anyone recommend any piece of literature to read about fashion/style? or possibly blog to read. I'm just getting into fashion and don't really know what's what. thanks in advance for any help (:
Recently Ive really been trying to take in everything about street wear due to my interest in bape's colorful and creative clothing designs through various videos like the ones here on the casual. I mainly of course own bape products and I love mostly anything ridiculously loud. For most of my life Ive just worn basic dark blue jeans, a t shirt, and or a hoodie or leather jacket. I feel like theres something missing though but I dont know what. Is anyone able to give any sort of suggestions or pro tips as to how I can be less bland and stand out more besides wearing bape. Im relatively clueless even after watching this video.
dope video! great tips i'd say just experiment with things and don't spend 5000 dollars cause you saw some kid on Instagram wear it and kill it. ive wasted a lot of money trying to look like other people. I find you spend less money when you know what you like lol
I'm glad you're in Japan so you don't have to deal with this LA TH-cam style scene. Keep killin it.
Jelani Yorker I'm with you on that. Love my home, but dealing with LA can be a chore.
My number one rule
Don't dress for others
Dress for yourself

Tim Heidler I'd recommend Ametora: How Japan Saved American Style, Take Ivy, Icons of Men's Style, or even magazines like Essential Homme and GQ
