This was very helpful! I’m newer to archery and I just kept hearing terms and jargon and was getting lost. This helps a lot. Thank you very much sir!

I just finished recording a video on this very topic. Just remember arrows have ratings for a reason. To show thia i took some 28 inch 40 lbs rated arrows then fired them from a bow thats 48lbs at 28 inch draw. Two out of three ended with shattered knocks. Not everyone realizes that even your knock has a rating based on its strength. Its way easier to buy arrows than to custom build so for beginners i always recommend buying your first few sets. If your not sure about arrows just use the poundage of each and draw length to figure out your needs then buy a set. Perfectly matched arrows are for pro hunters and shooters trying to find perfection not new people getting into the hobby for the first time.

Good info ! I do have a question tho . If there wasnt such a thing as test kits is there a formula to come up with a good spine ?

Yes. The way we did it back 40 years ago was to go about 10 pounds heavier spined arrows than your bow weight. This allowed a little wiggle room for point weight. Keep in mind that's for a "28 inch" draw length. Less than 28" stay around the bow weight or even a little less.

Are you talking about the rear end of the arrow (nock) in reference to the tape or the whole arrow being left or right. I already know 100% I’m going to be shooting 200gr field points and broadheads.

If the arrow is fletched, the point of the arrow will impact left or right. Also at 15 yards you will see bad arrow flight when the arrow is not apined properly.
