Good video to watch. I would maybe tackle this but don't have the space or tools. Its so much better watching and easier to learn that way rather then reading it and you posted a good vid. My W211 front springs are 11 years old now and I need to get them done. Last time one broke it was a nightmare. Thanks
Aye good advice Dave. The bomb analogy is not an overstatement. The mass of that spring and the potential energy there (under compression) could be lethal if thing go sideways. Nice work...Cheers Pal
Done one of these a few months back at work ,even with the Sykes Pickavant work station it was a bit scary putting your hands near it to take top mount off. The top ball joint was knackered too just like the one you did. Good Video Dave .
Just given me really good heads up just about to update the front suspension on my 2006 CLS 320 cdi especially the hydraulic coil spring compressor - just purchased one to help me out - Thankyou very much for the upload. 😊👍 new sub and bell ticked
I am not affiliated with any tools or supplier. Please do not ask for links or manufacturer. Cheers dave
I had one a few weeks ago that let go and nearly broke my arm, I brought it to a guy who had the proper machine and got it done safely. Good video.
My W211 front left spring is broken at exactly the same place. Thanks for the video.
Mine are 11 years old, I am scared one is going to pop. I have booked it in the get new ones

Good job dave!
Great stuff.
Did you replace the original new MB spring or aftermarket ?
Why not just remove the three bolts that hold the ball joint mount to the top arm?
Danger uxb 💥 !!
Dave - I might need two front shocks replaced in my 2007 E Class - how do I contact you
Where do you live
Is it only me that is stuck with the strut spring nut not having a special tool?
Apparently Chuck Norris uses these springs as a Bullworker.
