I did a research presentation on Ali for my school project. The more I dig deeper the more respect I got for Ali , Kendrick and Dre. The ultimate knowledge they share with each other are insane.
A half-broken 200$ mic, just goes to show you dont need a fancy million dollar studio to make a classic album as long as the skill and passion is there.
Fire! Ali was the first mix engineer I studied when I began creating music. I didnt know shit about mixing until I started reading about his philosophy and techniques...Definitely one of if not THEE GOAT engineers of our time🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
That's great! If possible, can you please share with me some resources to learn about his philosophy and techniques? I'm highly into digging this as well! Thanks!
Man thank you so much for the knowledge you are assimilating. I hope you know how much game you are providing here. Ppl can spend thousands on degrees & learn less than you are giving right here on your channel. Much love ❤️ keep pushing fam, you are providing a service that’s hard to even quantify
The ending was not as conclusive as I had hoped, but good stuff bro. Keep making more please! I appreciate you putting together this video for us to learn shiii
Ali is out of this world. He’s amazing. I’ve been listening to Kendrick for a while but I just found out about Ali, and hearing his story inspires me so much as an up and coming music producer.
Very informative, been a fan of Ali since I heard section 80 and seeing his growth and hearing his knowledge is outstanding. Thanks for sharing George.
Finding a good engineer is like finding a good barber- you find one that works for YOU and you pray you can maintain the harmony for as long as you can!
Can you do a video showing and explaining the Accusonic recording process used by the late Bruce Swedien and which Quincy jones produced album for MJ you think sonically is the best ?
God I love this channel, but could you add subtitles to some of the clips that are harder to hear? Like the one with the crowd noise and guy speaking into a headset
I use a 2GB Ram laptop with a mixing template I created on FL studio. I start with my Aux/sends for wet effects like reverb, delay, flanger etc and I adjust them to a good starting point. Afterwards I switch off the effects and work on the main vocal chain then I switch things on and off to get a good idea of what everything sounds like together. It might take time to get used to the process at first, but once you're aware of what you doing it becomes really simple. I've mixed a couple quite a few mixtapes, albums and songs using this process and template. If you use FL studio drop your email so I can send you the template
This video contains the most stuttering, stammering, and mumbling I've heard in a ten-minute period. Whatever these individuals know, they know by accident.
Its so dope that Kendrick didnt leave Ali behind and even doper that he got to learn from Dre.
Perfect story
Ali ain’t mix Mr. Morale tho. Woulda hit different
@@ShaqKhiElvie yes its a shame he didnt I think he wanted to focus more on EngineEars and his family
@@georgetmusicno one misses on that. They just wanted to try new Sonics with manny.

I went to high school with Ali. He was always mild mannered & to himself . Glad to see how he’s blossomed 🎉❤
He kept mentioning that upright bass, LOL it must have given him hell at the time 😂🔥
haha
Kendrick Lamar x Derek Ali is the most dynamic duo to change the soundscape of music mixing and the bringing the feeling back to songs.
Thank you for ALWAYS providing us with in depth , informative and useful videos .

Ali and Joyner Lucas look and sound alike. 😂
he so fine

You skip two projects before section 80 - the Kendrick Lamar EP when he first started going by kendrick and overly dedicated then section 80.
Ye I didn’t cover the lastest and oldest stuff no documentation on that stuff unfortunately
“How I mixed”?

I hope you’re not referring to Ali. Go listen to an album he has mixed in the last 10 years. They’re absolutely immaculate.
