Damn, this was really good! The properly punctuated action, dramatic camerawork, on point expressions, lip flaps, and special FX--! It's all there! What's holding it back from being a 10 for me is mostly the kingdom hearts-like pauses, such as between scout dodging the sniper shot and retreating into the bar or between sniper calling scout a gremlin and scout beginning to reel his last punch back. Speaking of, I especially really liked the bar fight scene. The blood splatters from snipers punches and the bottle shattering really helped deliver that extra visual punch to sell the viciousness. Plus, it seems as if sniper's blows interrupting scout's smart-mouthed remarks creates a tempo that can't be interrupted by awkward pauses in the first half of it. Though, at the end, the hand on sniper's stomach switches between cuts, but that's a minor error overall (That he's holding his stomach from getting stabbed with the broken bottle in the first place is also a nice detail that sells how much it hurt, so I really don't mind). So yeah, this is good stuff. This video definitely deserves every view and like it has received and more.
Lighting and animation are both very inconsistent. In one scene it can be a super solid animation and in another the timing can be super off. andwhats with the yellow/purple lighting at the beginning? just looks awful, but thankfully the rest of the lighting is decent/good. Animation vise. It just shows that its made without too much polish. Some scenes flow together really nicely. Then there are the scenes where scout runs into the bar and his feet goes to the right way to much (probs just an SFM issue but could be fixed with anothe keyframe) and the one where he picks up the bottle so slowly it just breaks up the timing. But honestly in the scenes that flow nicely. It really is just good. Solid nice and yummy to look at. Fav one gotta be 0:52. Just really nice and has a good tempo. Overall just a very inconsistent animation that could very well be super good if just polished a bit and the lighting be reworked. Still better than 99% of what I see nowadays. Good job👍
The character animation is a bit odd (very goofy) but some of the other parts of the animation were really cool, such as the gun breaking apart at 0:25 and scout's eyes at 1:15 as he looks around (although a bit goofy as well)
