What is 110 denotes in a L110 jaw coupling ?

Great question! The answer... the sizes are a historical relic. Going back to 1927, when Lovejoy first introduced the jaw coupling with leather spiders (now rubber)... the number represented the max bore (so "110" equaled a 1.10 inch max bore). Through technical advancement over many decades, the max bores of Lovejoy jaw couplings were able to increase. As technology continued to improve, Lovejoy stayed with the original nomenclature... as each part's general dimensions remained the same. As a result... today, the Lovejoy L110 now has a max bore of 1.625 inches (not 1.10 inches).
