Zebrafish - A Key To Understanding Human Development

This NIH video shows how the zebrafish, Danio rerio, provides a valuable resource for scientists trying to understand the intricate process by which a fertilized egg develops into a fully formed individual-and also the numerous diseases and conditions that can result when even a tiny part of that process goes wrong. The video includes interviews with NIH researchers and footage of the NIH zebrafish facility. Thought to be the largest in the world, the facility has enough space for 19,000 tanks to accommodate 100,000 fish.
