I'm 72 and a Vietnam (era) vet and I like this song as well. Maybe because the the lead singer is obviously half blind like me. 😀 One thing american and aussie vets have in common is a distrust of authority after Vietnam. And we regard and respect Mel Gibson for his better movies like Mad Max and Gallipoli. Every american and citizen of the world needs to know about Gallipoli to understand what is REALLY a mistake in war and conflict and why Australians decided on independence from the UK like the american colonials did after the 'French and Indian' war. Gibson played an american patriot that REALLY hated redcoats because of his experience in the F&I war, in the movie, The Patriot, where the redcoats, the british officers, especially, were depicted to be as cold blooded as the german Wehrmacht. Amazing what feelings and thoughts a music video can dredge up when you get to a certain age. 😀
The subtle transition from the people saying "it's a mistake" in the refrain to them becoming soldiers is one of the coolest things in this music video.
Yeah, I see that as a common theme with people who have once been deployed, everyone I know that has came back from being deployed told me it was a mistake to even enlist
The transition of the last one, from nurse to army medic, directly going from a civilian job to a military equivalent did happen to people too. My great grandad was a blacksmith and farrier, and when he enlisted that's what he did in the first World War.

Pwcritter I agree with you. For those too young to know, It's A Mistake expresses a feeling a lot of us had in the early 1980s, when it seemed like the bombs could drop at any moment. We really felt like some stupid mistake by the Russians or the Americans could destroy the world and we were all living on the edge of a cliff. It's A Mistake has pop appeal, but a simple enough sound that you can't really hide from the emotional heart of its message. For me that makes it poignant and effective.

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart. Power to the People!
Always loved this song, had to hear it one last time before the apocalypse.
Buck up, all is not lost yet.
@@MXB2001 The last president you want in a situation that could trigger a nuclear war is Biden
Me too we have a year of two at best.
Down the hatch, I regret nothing.
Not surrender
Makes me feel nostalgic ...I just turned 46 and remember this song ...I believe it came out in 1983?
About then,I'm 47 an remember these when they was new!! The 80s 😁😁👍👍
@Black shuck You have excellent English by what I read.👌👌
Mükemmel zeki, yetenekli, başarılı bir grup yılların eskitemeyeceği kalite.
My favorite men at work song
Women💃💃💃💃🇳🇴🇳🇴
Me too.
Why does music the last 20 or so years not have the heart and soul of what we had back then?... my lord we were a based and together generation.
Good question
R.I.P. Greg Hamm
Shame what happened to Greg. He definitely took that lawsuit very hard. I wish he could have seen that it wasn't his fault. It was merely a cash grab. The riff sounds nothing like that Kookaburra song
Men at Work put humor in all their videos. Great band of the 80s...
I love 80's
No! No hay nadie. Lo siento.
Hasta aquí llegamos al refugio dela buena música 🤩
Yo salud🍺🍻

Brings back a lot of memories of the summer of '83, when there was plenty to great music on FM radio.
and no commercials yet
That's quite a combo, the who, bee gees and the beach boys. You have good taste!
FC Schaeffer I wanna get back to 70' and 80' God can you hear me please take me there 😭
Dude, you just mentioned every bit of musician that i love and a huge fan too. I have them all in my playlist. Thanks for making my day ;D
FC Schaeffer ....wow!....you said it.
One of the great voices in rock nobody that good in 2023
This is their best song, it rocks in 2019 !!!!! Love the Big 80's
Michael Hodgkins exactly. A lot of people dismiss this band because of how Down Under turned into a meme
Michael Hodgkins absolutely! 🤘
Still like this song but
Overkill And Who can it be now are tops
I agree that this is their best. 2nd best is "Overkill".
um dos grupos que mais emplacaram hits ... talento é isso
"Marcaron época 🔥💯
Very underrated tune!
Strongly agree also! The best!!
For me that makes it poignant and effective.
agreed
Verdade
aye a dear tune to me growing up in the 80's
so relevant right now in these dangerous times!
Exactly! Stop third world war!
The reaction to the guns suddenly appearing in their hands always cracks me up, they're like "WHOA! SHIT!"
absolutely one of the best songs I'll ever hear
The 80,s had it all when it came to music. Thanks to MTV and all its epic Videos

@@delso-wk9sq ME TOO; NOW THEY SHOW JUNKY CRAPPY 21ST CENTURY GARBAGE; MISS OLD DAYS.
Really like this song. Never heard it before.
I love this generations music. I use to listen to rap but this is much better. I feel more positive.
Weird, me too lol!!! Now I listen to rock but I still listen to other genres but none of them are such amazing as rock!
MegaRiqueZ me too
It's funny how a song about Nuclear War just feels so upbeat & positive lol
I wouldn't mind having a voice like Colin Hay's, love how he hits those lows and high notes, effortless, what an awesome vocalist.
This phenomenon song with Colin's unique voice is one of my all time favorites!! My BF son was a 4 yr old loved playing air guitar to Men At Work!!
Best song ever!!
I was in basic training in 1982 at Ft. Leonardwood when this came out.
Happily surprised I was not the only one who thought of this song with the current Russia-Ukraine situation, I hope peace prevails.
yep ..Its a mistake..

This song started playing on the radio about 5 seconds after I proposed! 4 years later we still laugh about it. Luckily it wasn't a mistake.

Such a fun time to be in high school with all these good videos on MTV.
Good old times, listening to Men At Work and Midnight Oil...
Can't get enough of this record it's a mistake and over kill
Nelson c Mcgee I agree! Then you should listen to No sign of yesterday. A very underrated song of them.
I saw Men At Work in 1982 and they were amazing! Such fun and humor. RIP Greg Ham of Men At Work--you made the world laugh and sing and that is an amazing accomplishment.
Amen to that. He inspired me to be a saxophonist and I'm Native America's greatest saxophonist, thanks to Greg
This song actually makes me feel sad. Way to convey emotion.
***** lol.
Imperial Scholar Expert That's right.
He said the song conveys a "sad" emotion and not that he had "depression". Big difference.
+A Yema quite being a peice of shit

My good Sir Men at Work , thank you for this 80's hit !
