Ms. Claus left for me a 20 liter barrel under the Christmas tree and I filled it with water for the first time last night. This morning I found the barrel sealed tight without a single drip anywhere. I am quite impressed! The barrel is attractive too, though the quality of the stand isn't exactly first-rate... but who cares? It is just a stand. I will allow the barrel to soak for a little longer and then will fill it with 90 proof goodness to age. This is educational and fun, so get yourself a barrel and enjoy! I suspect I'll purchase more in the future!
Whiskey should enter a barrel at 125 proof. The higher the proof, the lower the quality of the whisky ( oddly) Stick with 125 as a good entry point ( 62%) however, Rum ages well at 70%
Hi Steve.. thanks for great videos always. I am very glad to have found and subscribed to you. May i ask : I read on some website comments from others that barrel may explode after wine is added inside to age. Is that true? If yes, how could we prevent it? .... thanks!

Just got my barrel! Taking straight from the still to barrel. Putting in at 80% 😳.
