    I bought the 2022 Legion 5i a few days ago. My specs are RTX 3060, 16GB DDR5, i7 12700H, 1440p and 165hz. Absolute monster of a portable machine, beautiful to look at, premium in every way and gets the job done for everything I need it to do from music production work, graphics design work and gaming. Couldn't be happier with it and I don't see myself upgrading for the next 3-4 years

      Any idea how good it’d be for programs like blender and maya? Considering getting the same variant myself but contemplating whether I should get this 3060 over a 3070 laptop like the hp omen 16 for around the same price.

      @@tsozohoshi6182 Blender is what I use. I'm still learning it and new to it but it's absolutely fantastic for it and renders my scenes and images in no time. You could get a little more out of a 3070 with the same CPU, though as far as I know the 3070 on the Omen is a lower TDP one. Won't matter as much for rendering work but might matter for gaming depending on your needs. Regardless, you couldn't go wrong with a Legion or an Omen

    I am happily using a Legion 7 for both work and play. One HUGE difference between the Legion and Asus/Gigabyte is that you can order both an extended and onsite factory warranty from Lenovo - up to 4 years! When you're doing everything with a single laptop, any warranty that makes you send the unit away for service is pointless because you're going to be without your laptop for weeks. I feel this feature should be emphasized more since there are a lot more workers/students using a single laptop for everything.

    I have the 2021 5Pro, best laptop I ever had. I use it as a desktop replacement, it is very silent while I work, and also rather unobtrusive when gaming, especially if you lift it up with some laptop stand that has some vents/cutouts. If the 2 side usb-c ports both support displayport out, then you can easily connect 4 external monitors (I ran 3 external for a while, 1hdmi, 2x usb-c---dp, I have a 3060 and it handled all very well). The display is probably the best display I ever had, perfect aspect ratio, very bright, very color accurate. If I will be replacing this, it will be probably another Legion laptop. For people who don't want a big box on their table but want to game as well as use it as a workstation, this really is one of the best options, considering the price.

And since legions are generally more expensive than it’s peers, it’s price falls along the line of some 3070 laptops i was interested in like the Hp Omen 16. Hello, I personally use 3D modelling & rendering as my benchmark for performance. As the laptops GPUs are slightly lower spec vs desktops, it would be better to get the higher/est GPU you can afford with at least 8GB of VRAM. 6GB is ok for most, but as your project gets larger (it will), that extra 2GB will come in handy. Also, upgrade your RAM to 32MB, and get an extra Storage to use as a swap file.
      TDLR: 3060 laptop = 3050 desktop, 3070 laptop = 3060 desktop as a general guide. Also, look for models with higher TDP for GPUs to get maximum output. Hope this helped.

I had a quick look at the online Lenovo store of Belgium (where I'm from) and wanted to have your opinion on the following upgradeable specs. @@riichobamin7612 how much was it? I ordered one from costco tonight, this same model. 2022 Lenovo legion 5i with i7-12700h, the 1600 screen, and 3060 with 16gb ram 512gb ssd. (1099) with 4 year warranty.
      let me know where you got the 3070ti and what price you paid. and if you think its worth jumping up. I see antonline have the Lenovo legion 5i pro with 3060 ti for 1300. im thinking about it. but I just dont trust antonline and I lose another 3 years of warranty.
      So better screen and 500more gb ssd for 200 more? or 200 less and get 3 year additional warranty. leaning towards costco deal.

    It doesn't get hot, about 86 degrees BUT it's because it's limited to hit 86 no matter how hard you push it. You can see that in MSIAfterburner, it keeps hitting the "thermal limit" in the GPU. I tested this by overclocking to 1920mhz and it still would only hit 86. I undervolted and underclocked to 1550mhz and it still would hit 86. So I believe that Lenovo has this set to only go that high so it won't overheat no matter what.

    • @JoeMaranophotography
      @JoeMaranophotography ปีที่แล้ว +2

      87 degrees is the max an nvidia gpu will go and that's actually pretty bad temperature wise. You want to be 10 degrees below that ideally.

    • @DaBrown101
      @DaBrown101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeMaranophotography if what you say is true then yes that's not cool. But I only mention that is because everyone that reviews this laptop always says "and it doesn't run so hot" even tho it hits 86 no matter what speed the GPU runs at so in my opinion, if it always hit 86 and it doesn't go over that, then just overclock it and let it run at 86 always

      @DaBrown101 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoeMaranophotography I live in Midwest USA, and it's 50 Degrees F here, but that's beside the point. I mean all reviewers always say "it doesn't overheat, it stays below 90 degrees". Which means all of these laptops hit 86 no matter what. Watch the other reviews, they all show graphs right at mid 80s.
      I will try to lower the speed and undervolt it even more without losing too much fps and see if I can get it to at least 80 degrees and I'll report back.
