ff7 is what made me fall in love with games. i went to a game rental store when i was 10 and saw the cover of it and thought it was awesome and rented it. you could keep a game for 3 days before needing to return it or you would get late fee's. i remember my mom getting super mad because i kept telling her i was still playing it and i hadnt beat it yet, think i ended up keeping it for almost a month. At that point she made me return it and she gave me money to go buy it instead. walmart had final fantasy tactics which at the time i thought was like a sequel to ff7 so i got it and i remember loading it up and it not being related to ff7 that i started to bawl my eyes out (rofl). My mom took the game back a couple days later, got a refund and got ff7 instead and i remember just being so damn happy and played it non stop. My mom is a legend.
That love for ff7 led me to rent ff8 and ff9. FF8 i enjoyed, ff9 i never really enjoyed it much. That lead me to Xenogears which is probably my 2nd fav game behind ff7. Years later i found FFX-2 which i fell in love with, then played FFX which i liked but hated the sphere grid so i actually didnt actually finish FFX till it came out on steam.
To this day i still play ff7 and now with the remake 20 years later, its made me fall in love with the rpgs all over again. Thinking back on it now, its crazy to me on how much playing 1 game changed my life. It made me want to learn to make games, which led me to programming, which led to why i went to college, which is why i have a good job now. So thank you ff7, you made my life.

through 2019, 2020 and 2023 final fantsy was also released on nintendo switch. 1 till 12. even 15 pocket edition is on the switch

People say that your favorite FF game tends to be the first one you played. Im different. The first one i ever played was 8. I loved it. After that i played 9. I loved that even more! Then i played 7. I think 7 is my favorite FF game period. After that i played 10 and then went back and played 1-6 after that. I loved 8 and 9 but i think 7 is where i became a real fan of the series and was hooked on the franchise.
I agree. I started with VIII, then VII, skipped IX, then played X. And 8 is my least fav of the 4. VII and X are always fighting for first for me.
I first played Final Fantasy 4 and then 6 as they were released on the SNES. I wasn't too crazy about them at the time, but I didn't dislike them either. All of that changed when Final Fantasy 7 came out. This was the one that made me fall in love with the series and JRPGs in general. FF7 is still my favorite one to date.
15 was my first and it sure as hell isn't my favorite anymore lol
7 was my first, then 8, 9, 10, 6, 12, and 13. 12 and 9 are my favorites, and I've finished 7. I never left the tutorial stage of 8 and 13. I played 10 and 6, but never finished, for one reason or another.
Yeah my first one was 4 but while I love the game 6 and 9 are my favorites hell 7 is probably the 3rd of my favorites

I love this game beyond words
It’s really crazy to me with this instant connection between millions of people from around the world, to find out that 11 year old me was not alone at all with how much this game means to me. I had a best friend who was as crazy about it as I was but to me that was it. With the internet I now see I am not alone and it feels really special. This game was my childhood, and I cried nerd tears finally playing the remake. Crazy.
I appreciate all of this. Time and effort to tell the hella confusing (for newbies) story of ff7. I mean Ive played it before but I sas a kid back then lol
Its actually not confusing its flat out bad writing with so many plot holes it makes it non sensical. But people of the era saw the big swords and ignored all the flaws that ruined the game for people like ne and just dubbed it the best FF and RPG ever.
It's been in my thoughts quite a bit this month just randomly so this fits perfectly. Anyone else June??
I was born in 2000, so my experience with Final Fantasy VII came many years after its release. When I was like ten years old, I was exposed to the franchise when I played Crisis Core on my PSP. I never really got to play the original FFVII until 2016 when I found the PS1 copy that belonged to my dad and uncle. Luckily, my PS3 was backwards compatible and had virtual PS1 memory cards. When I began playing, I was already having a rough time in my personal life. I guess playing the game somehow allowed me to cope with those problems. After completing the game and watching the ending, I remember being overcome with emotion. Despite its flaws in terms of graphics and some gameplay elements, the game's story was so powerful and memorable. Since then, I do playthroughs here and there, and invest a lot of time into learning the lore of the game series. FFVII has been one of the most important games in my life, considering that it got me through the personal problems I had throughout my adolescence. FFVII is not a good game based on the fact that many people grew up with it, because I was really late to the party. On its own, FFVII is a phenomenal game. Truly a masterpiece in my eyes.
Nanaki knows who his father is. He thinks his father abandoned the tribe when the Gi attacked and his mother doesn't inform him. He learns in the Caves of the Gi that his father sacrificed himself to stop them. It's a huge piece of catharsis for the character.
So bittersweet to hear Greg again.
Masster chief has a pretty dark past too.
It looks like the noir inspirations never actually left the original game, especially in the first part of the game and anything that has to do with Midgar! Even newer versions/spin-offs/sequels/prequels of the game (Crisis Core, D.o.C. etc.) represent Midgar as a 50s noir city (probably also reminded me of scenes from Shadow City, Spirit and Sin City)

Cloud doesn't agree to be Aerith's bodyguard because she agrees to go on a date with him. He says he's not going to do it for free, and she says that a date will more than pay for his services. This is not out of character with Cloud whatsoever, because he just wants to get paid.

I don't wanna spoil but, it's because we're not really getting a remake of the story we know. It's something new yet canon. You'll see. It's gonna be very mixed among fans.

I think it would be hillarious, if in a future sequel installment of final fantasy 7 (hypothetically), if they show cloud after he's a bit older and he runs a chocobo ranch and he tends to the chocobos. When you ask him about it, he says that he got into caring for and breeding chocobos when he was on an adventure to stop sephiroth. He claims it's because he found peace in the act, or it was relaxing during a time of crisis to make it seem all reasonable and shit, but then there's an easter egg where he snaps at you and reveals how freakishly obsessed he is with chocobo breading and that it's not natural and probably a tad unhealthy lol.

The more I rewatch AC or replay CC, DOC, BC I feel like there are a lot o retcons and plot holes in those. The OG game was just fine, IMPO. I like the way the Remake is kinda wrapping things up, but I'm also a bit afraid where the developers are going, or at least the illusion they gave us. I really hope they don't screw this up.

I agree, and I'm waiting until they reveal that Genesis was behind the universe changing. Afterall, DoC ended with the cliffhanger and it's clear that the Remake is a canonical continuation.

@@romera27 okay, so they were the original humans who were wiped out by the alien, Jenova. And the survivors evolved into humans? That makes me wonder what makes people like Ifalna carry the Cetra genes when everyone else lost them
@@torgan That part is really not that clear in the games nor the spinoffs, what we know is that Jenova killed almost all of them... except for the ones who sealed her I guess, which *probably* are Ifalna's bloodline, considering she was the last pure Cetra I think they were living like a small clan or family (incest much? :v). Most likely yeah... the Cetras and humans probably had a common ancestor and then they split in a kind of natural selection way... Maybe there were only Cetras and they were turned into humans by Jenova somehow... there's no actual lore about it. But it's pretty clear the planet migration thing was a mistranlation, I saw somewhere the actual quote in japanese.
It ocurred to me that they could live in a small tribe with small numbers too who knows... but then again that would imply that there was a second massacre... leaving only Ifalna alive.
The story of the Cetra & Jenova in final fantasy 7 is very similar to the history of our world, for anyone curious check out the Apocrypha of John and The Emerald Tablets books. Spooky

The series seems like it's complete without Dirge of Cerberus; it's a black sheep, if you will, in an otherwise solid franchise. I love how Advent Children wraps everything up so dang well..

Phantasy Star 2 phantasy star 4 both games came out long before ff 7 and both games killed off a main character team member. Always the reason I have never liked this game so many things people think it did for the first time that where just not true.
Amount of people now I hear say meh ff7 wasn't that good and has aged terribly..... their opinion is just flat out shite....I revisit it every few years and it is still a truly great game ...no rose tinted glasses ...it took you on a journey and I can't think of too many video game stories that gripped me as much...I don't even think it's all that convoluted..it's easy enough to understand even when I was 11 ...it's not kingdom hearts 😂

Ff7 is very biblical....sephiroth being like a phariseeic, saduceeic type of character, wanting to bring death to the planet. Jenovah=Jehovah, aerith people being like the Israelites with her power of holy and the fact its final fantasy 7 being the sabbatical day of God...seems like this was all done intentionally

I'm going to be clinging to this series very closely in the times ahead, what with the utter botching of the Remakes ending and utmost disrespect to long time fans of the original
I've played final fantasy vii every year since 2000 and I was not upset by the remake at all, they understood that the original is in it's own a phenomenal game and timeless. A shiny coat of new graphics and a 1:1 remake would not be enough. I'm both excited and terrified for the next steps it can either go fantastically great or terribly awful. I've already experienced ffvii countless times however I'm excited to see what will happen and I'm glad it's not the same game with shiny graphics, but to say they notched the ending is unfair

As a someone that grew up with the OG, I'm flabbergasted with how much close-minded you guys can get. Although this is normal for all types of communities. They don't owe you anything, so be grateful you got SOMETHING. Hell, if I was the writer, I would be content with FF7 OG and consider it my big achievement but since the fans won't quiet down, it's extremely nice of them to even think of you guys. Cause originally, they weren't thinking about catering this game specifically for this fan base, it was specifically because THEY wanted to tell a good story.
