There's history behind the word stud, having to do with black women being seen as masculine by society and something along the line of back in the day when women couldn't work black women would dress up as a man/masculine so they could work and the black workers would call them a stud as an inside joke. To me, there's no difference in Dyke, Butch or Stud. It's just new terms as time goes on. They're all masculine women.
