JT, I totally missed the shoegaze movement back then. If I had heard it I bet it would not have gotten into it at the time. The evolution of our musical tastes JT, they keep evolving which is a good thing

Very good point, Steve. For me, I soaked up almost all of the late 80s and 90s British sounds, but there are other bands that I missed, and now I'm glad to have discovered. Kate Bush is an artist that I didn't care for, and now I like her material.

My Mom loved Bird and used to see him in NY at Birdland circa 1950. She was dating the multi instrumentalist Don Elliott at the time, and Im sure they would be together at these various jazz clubs. She often spoke of Oscar Perteson's club up in Montreal around the same era 🎵

Denver looks pretty but chilly. Good luck at the record show, hopefully I will be going to my first one in 5 years next month. I actually have an original of the NIN, not in the best shape but it plays fine as I recall, thrifted it many years ago and actually enjoyed it more than I was expecting, it was my first time hearing anything by them. RIP to drummer Keith LeBlanc who played on it and just passed away a few days ago. Nice Grant Green album, incredible how much jazz never got released at the time, we are truly living in a golden age with all these beautiful reissues and so much music being easily available Steve, the trick is just being able to afford enough of what you would like. Only Charlie Parker I have heard is Jazz At Massey Hall, that came in a box of jazz records a friend gave me for free, good album and I do have the Clint Eastwood film on DVD. That looks cold Mike! You sound like you have a cold too. Are you ok big fella? Might be cat flu. I have all of the Minami Deutsch albums and love 'em, but after seeing them live a few weeks ago I gotta say that's where it's at. They're definitely next level. If you ever get the chance go see 'em. That Stools record is a shed burner.
I think that it's better to just have the records without a stereo system. For one they just look good on the shelf and as long as you don't hear them you can be safe in assuming they're all brilliant. I've pulled back a bit on jazz because I got a bit caught up in the whole Tone Poet, Blue Note Classic & Acoustic Sounds/Analogue Productions thing, but that Grant Green sure did sound funky! Damn I'm a sucker for jangle shoegaze too! I saw Ride last year do the Nowhere album. They were amazing. They were better than I remembered from when I saw them in the 90's. Early NIN & Ministry when they still had a foot on the dancefloor where great. "Sadomasochistic sex is good. Try it. you might like it" 🤣Cheers...Mike

Of course you would know Minami Deutsch. I don’t plan to set up my stereo, I just want to have a collection of sealed records , much more exciting and worth more. I have been watching their shows on YT
Like you I pulled way back from jazz, same reason, too much being released and I won’t play it enough. The Grant Green was very good though. I’m not a huge Green fan but this did have some funk induced into the music. A few people have mentioned the new Ride album is quite good and none of them were named Mike so I was a little Leary. Now that a fellow Mike has recommended them I feel much safer about this. Always good to have Mike certified music. Thanks for dropping by Mike
