This is what people don't understand about Taylor. No one gives her a song and she records it. She builds it then her producers help her fill it out to what's in her head. That's why if you notice, there is very little deviation between her performances of a song. That is what she wants it to sound like and that's why her voice sounds weak in certain parts every time or it doesn't sound like the note is supported in a certain place every single time. She is doing it on purpose to support the sound she wants, not because she can't sing but because F--- can she sing!
Max Martin (and Shellback) are very famous swedish producers who are credited many of the most popular songs back then ex Britney Spears. Not many people want to work with Max Martin anymore, because it is now publicly known that Max demands writing credits on ALL songs he produces even if he doesn´t contribute to the actual writing of the song itself, and was just the producer. As a Swede myself we always knew this, but in the recent years it is now public knowledge. An example of that was when Taylor had the stupid copyright lawsuit for "Shake it off" and he actually had to write a letter to court explaining how he was not part of the actual writing of that song (because he was credited on the writing of that song on the album) So eventhough he is a genius producer and has also written many amazing songs, many songwriters don´t want to work with him anymore because he also takes credit from the actual songwriters when he didn´t write the song.
She has alot of BTS especially from the rep album. Btw, Taylor never ever lip-syncs. But she likes to recreate the recording when performing live. There's been only very few times when she changed a song a bit live. So you haven't heard of Shellback & Max Martin? They're behind Britney Spears' hits. They also write & produce for other artists but started working with Taylor since Red, 1989 & Reputation. They're a big deal in the pop world. Nathan, Aaron Dressner only started working with Taylor since Folklore. So as you can see, Taylor already wrote the songs before she goes into the studio. That's what sets her apart. Just to clarify if a person sings badly, Auto-tune will NOT fix their voice, as many people think. The voice can be significantly improved with many tricks, Auto-tune is just one of them, and it doesn't have as much scope for action as people think. Musicians started using autotune in 1998 after Cher dropped her song “Believe.” And now, many professionally produced song use it.
She hates auto tune. She does vocal effects and she will use auto tune almost never unless she wants a specific effect for e few seconds for a specific song
