Hi Elise! I have been enjoying your content recently and I learnt about Premier from your channel. I recently accidentially ordered from them (one swipe on facebook) and cancelled it within minutes, received confirmation it got cancelled. They obviously never shipped that order. They never refunded me, they never responded to my email to customer service. Today, after almost a MONTH after the order was cancelled I am disputing my payment with paypal, as they never reversed the transaction. I googled reviews and people share similar very bad reviews of the company, unfortunately. And while the yarn is very nice indeed (I did receive another "correct" order) I think you should be aware of the customer service situation, when you advertise this company and support them with your own name (don't get me wrong, no blame, it's mostly FYI and food for thought)
I knew it was drummer boy A because of the color of his hair, I’m always using budget friendly even if it’s scratchy since I’m still a beginner and my yarns typically have more neon colors instead of muted yellows that are more wearable. Great video 👍
I'm guessing that A is the cheaper yarn and B is the more expensive yarn, simply because B looks less fuzzy, which I'm assuming means anti-pilling. Ok, so now to finish watching.
I figured A was the budget friendly yarn because of the "fuzzy" detail but honestly I also felt that Drummer B was a bit "stiff looking! I'm making amigriumi for my grandkids and they prefer hem to be soft and cuddly! I'm trying to use up my stash so making bags as Christmas gift to throw in the car for shopping to use up my scratchy yarn! I'll definitely try Premier Basix when I buy more yarn. Thanks for the video.
@@EliseRoseCrochet I was checking out the Premier yarn and had some questions. I'll have to order to get the colors I want and the more I order, the better the discount (shipping and initial order discount as well as total order discount) anyway...I can't actually feel the yarn for softness and I don't get out and around very well. I need to rely on others' input. Is there a difference in "cuddliness" (probably not a word but I think you know what I mean.)? Not so worried about "crispness" for details but tactile softness (feeling when you cuddle it). Or are there other yarns that are comparable to Premier for softness? BTW Love your channel. I'm just getting started and as usual, my project list (just for amigurumi) keeps growing!!
I was looking at the lines on the drum and guessed right :). I only use economical yarns on my amigurumi and save my more expensive yarns for wearables.
Pickle just loves to help… and he loves ❤you very much 🥰. And yes I did guess right, but they are both adorable. Btw nearly finished my Bitty Bunny Boy, my first amigurumi toy 🙌🏽
Stitch definition and details gave it away, but both look great. The differences are definitely minimal and ultimately depends on what you're looking for. Great video! Would love to see a similar video with different brands
A is the cheaper? What a GREAT opportunity! LOVE picking out yarn. Have gone thru multiple companies, materials, etc over the past 2 months of crocheting amigurumi. Love cotton & cotton blends.💝
Elise, thank you for this wonderful comparison of Premier Yarns. Both these collections are very popular. Your Drummer Boys are true works of art! Premier Yarns are delighted to share in your talent, passion and inspiration for creating with yarn!
I totally understand the aversion to the scratchy yarn; my hands can't take that! That said, I tend to reach for cotton but I will look at the Premier Basix!
I guessed right. Thank you for this. i've been looking for a guide to what accessible yarn would be good to start collecting for a beginner. Now I have two to choose from with a huge color selection.
Hi Elise. I guessed totally wrong! B had a much more defined stitch definition which made me think it was the budget yarn. Amazing! I wish I lived around the corner from Premier!! You are a lucky lady. Nice work on both drummer boys. Take care!
I guessed right! I have 2 grandsons ages 9 and 6 so I have made a lot of amigurumis, it is my favorite things to make. I usually use Hobby Lobby I love this cotton yarn. Thanks for sharing! ❤😘😊
Hooray! I guessed right! My top choice yarns to use for amigurumi... 1. Caron Simply Soft: smooth stitches, soft finished piece and fantastic for embroidery style detail work. 2A. I Love This Yarn (Hobby Lobby): pretty soft although I've had some "painted" style colorways that felt kinda of crispy/scratchy. Lots of great color options and works up nice for those projects that need to have a softer dreamy feel like a lovey or other project for a younger child. 2B. Caron One Pound: So much yarn for the price and still pretty soft and workable. Not great for small details but I'm good with that because I like to mix and match yarn textures on some of my creations. 3. Blanket yarn! Yes, the big chunky chenille yarn works awesome for giant projects to be created in a small amount of time. Use caution when stuffing though and don't overstuff. I typically go for embroidered features and skip safety eyes/noses. Even the very best of those accessories will pull through the stitches. Happy stitching, friends!
@@EliseRoseCrochet Love the patterns you shared also. My grandma will probably be getting an ornament set of those! I have a sister who is obsessed with nutcrackers so I'm on the hunt for a good pattern for that too.
We have my grandmother’s scratchy blankets too. They are scratchy, but precious! I’m new to crochet, but I really like Premier Yarn. Great vlog! I guessed wrong.
Love this Elise. I could only tell by the little drum, the detail part, but other than that, I would never know!!!! I'll be keeping a lookout for that yarn! I do love the anti-pilling one, I've used it a few times. What a cute drummer boy!
Yes I guessed right. The way I could tell was by the size of tge yarn. I also use both of these yarns and love them. Thank you for the comparison because even using this yarn I still was wondering.
Wow! I never realized Premier was so close! I appreciate this video very much. My current "go-to" for amigurumi yarn is the Rowan Summerlite 4ply". I have also used the Berroco Vintage. I will definitely have to look into the Premier. I love the color options, and like you, especially the skin tone options. I am also super excited for the 12 Days of Christmas pattern. This video made the wheels turn super quick! Thanks so much! 💕🌽
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! And I have tried the Rowan and it's a super gorgeous yarn as well as the Berroco. It's nice to have different yarns in different price points to choose from! 🧶🧶🧶
I saw him in your background for several videos yet and I thought "oh she must have been a patterns tester." Haha. I am a big fan of Jen's patterns. I have this one and all the Bible story ones. Yep! I guessed right. Anti Pilling has a slight sheen to it and I also know that it is more expensive. I am a Premier Yarns fan! :) I use Basix a lot and I like mixing it with Caron One Pound because they are about the same thickness.
I love the details the anti-pilling yarn provides, but still like the vibrancy of the colors on the less expensive one. Hello to Pickle too! Thanks for another fun and informative video! And thank you for the coupon!!!
I use I love this cotton for many of my amigurumi projects! I’m planning to teach a class for elementary aged children on amigurumi in the spring and would LOVE to see a video about chunkier amigurumi crochet as that is what we will be working with! ❤
What age range are you focusing on? Have the children had any prior crochet experience? I’ve been tinkering with maybe doing something at my school but haven’t been sure of where to start. Thank you for sharing.
I guessed B, based on how the yellow hair stitches look on my computer screen! Next time I order, I'm going to try the Basix. I've almost entirely given up crocheting anything other than amigurumi and I appreciate your research and advice about amigurumi. Thanks!
I haven't tried the basix yarn but I have noticed that a lot of crocheters on utube use it. I make amigurumi and I've used a lot of different yarns. I have used premier yarn from dollar tree and believe it or not it's not bad to work with and it's not scratchy like a lot of the less expensive yarns. I love both of the drummer boys they are so cute and I really like that you did this test for us. Thanks Elise for another informative video.
I really like I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby when I make things for children that will be playing with the toys, but I also like the Berroco Vintage for nicer dolls. Mainstays from WalMart is actually really nice, too. It's a lot softer than Super Saver and is a little cheaper.
I loved this video since I am always looking at different yarns and primarily make amigurumi. I tend to not want to spend money on yarn that I'm using for my hobby, so budget is usually my top criteria when yarn shopping for amigurumi, even though I logically know I should be willing to spend more for better quality since I'm willing to invest so much time, IF it means a better quality or longer lasting creation. The struggle is REAL for those uber practical types like myself :) I liked A better, so I was pleased to see it was done with the cheaper option! Thanks for sharing your test with us!
Yes, the struggle is real!!! 😂 It always comes down to application for me. If it's a toy that's going to sit on a shelf and just needs to look pretty, there are so many options available. If it's a garment that I'm going to wear then I'm going to be pretty particular about the yarns I use. But there are so many options out there and it can be overwhelming at times!! 🥁❤️🧶
I've gotten the Just Yarn line of yarns from Dollar Tree. I use the Worsted and Tweed ones for my bearverbears by Mister O'Lui. I also used the cotton line for quick coffee coasters and cozies.
I love Premier Basix! I am making an afagan for my son with it. I guessed Drummer boy "A" because of the slight color variation of his hair. Premier Basix has brighter colors. However, I have also used the Anti Pilling and love how soft it is.
I guessed right, maybe because Premier Everyday has been my go-to gift baby blanket yarn for many, many years. I love that it doesn't pill, fade or lose its shape and it stays soft, and the easy care instructions make it perfect for baby blankets. Thanks for making this video! I'll have to try Basix, and the 12 Days of Christmas just got added to my wip-to-be list.
I love you. I cry at The Little Drummer Boy too. (Also Charlie Brown Christmas) I was wrong from the start on the budget yarn. It was hard to guess. Lol, Pickle. I'm really glad you have talked about budget and yarn quality. I love the artist/designers' 12 Days of Christmas characters. Thanks for showing them.
I chose B as the budget friendly yarn and surprised myself. This was fun and your drummer boys are so cute. Thank you for the coupon code. Have a blessed weekend friends.
@@EliseRoseCrochet what got me was the skin color and hair color, usually I find the less expensive yarn is brighter because if the dye in it which usually makes it scratchy. My thoughts about that, what do I know :)
Welp.. I guess wrong... but that is ok. Thank you so much for this video. I am already a knitter and crocheter, and have just jumped down the rabbit hole of amigurumi for the first time with this year's Christmas presents, as I am making ornaments for my friends and family, and I am getting hooked. (no pun intended) 🙂. So naturally with any new endeavor I turn to TH-cam and was searching amigurumi and found your channel. I love all the videos I have watched and they have been super helpful already. I love this one and will be keeping Premier yarns at the top of my list for future projects. Thanks again!
B is the budget yarn is my guess. Now lets see if I am right. No not right I was wrong. I usually use premier Basix for most of the toys I make but also add the Antipilling when needed.
I did guess right. The Basix looked fluffier to me. I totally thought about my grandmother’s yarn collection when you were referring back to the older value yarns. Thankfully she found softer ones over time. Thank you for your comparison and pointing out the details.
I guessed wrong, but thank you for bringing Premier yarn to my attention. I have seen this brand in the store but was not sure if I should try it. Now I'm going to buy some for my next project. I love that both yarns you used come in so many colors.
I always use Caron Simply Soft yarn for my amigurumi. I haven’t noticed cons to it. I’ve also used the Mandala yarn once (with more to come) and baby yarns. I’ve liked them all haha.
I had guessed A. My favorite yarn to make Ami's with is lion Brand 24/7 Cotton. The only con I feel it has is it doesn't have a huge color selection. They have many colors, but when looking for like a true yellow or a true orange, they fall short.
I'm proud to say I guessed correctly. I usually crochet amigurumi with more expensive yarn, similar to the anti-pilling you used. Here in Germany is difficult to buy Scheepjes Softfun, which I used and adored while living in the UK, so now I use Schachenmayr Catania with a 2 mm hook, which produces very tight and defined amigurumi. I have to say I like more the drummer A, even if it's made with budget yarn. Sometimes it depends a lot on the purpose of said amigurumi. Is it going to be exposed, hugged by a little child, hanged on a tree?
Hi Elise! It's always interesting to see which yarns are better for amigurumi and which aren't! The expensive yarns aren't always best, surprisingly! 😂😱❤
I was wrong and I use Katia planet, a soft acrylic that funnily enough isn't advised as a toy yarn but my toys end up a good size, are soft and they can be washed at 40 degrees.
I guessed right , they both looked good . When you held them closer , I could see the fuss on A . They are both adorable 🥰 Thank you for a great review, on these yarns ❤❤
So pretty!!!! I will check if I can find it here in the UK. I don't know if you had made the video of how to identify what size of hook to use in case the labels are gone from the yarn =)
I guessed correctly because I knew the anti pilling wasn’t as fuzzy. I am so impressed with the anti pilling and color selection! I am going to take advantage of the coupon code for sure. Such cute patterns. I am so glad I found you. Thanks❤️💚❤️💚🎄
Yes I knew immediately which was which, but that is only because I know both very well. I use them a lot...lol Two of my favorites for pretty much that exact reasons you listed. Beautiful work. I love and envy those that can do amigurumi. My eyesight won't allow me to do such small work thoght.
Intersting your drummets came out great , I use cotton mainly ( sucker for schjeepes) acrillic mixs are good but I find cotton is best for arugurami, I just love the look more . I have used acrillic mixes many times but would pick cotton if I can lol xx
I picked correctly because I noticed the differences in the drums right off. It was fun to guess. Do you have a preference on wether you use use an acrylic or wool yarn? Or do you base your choice on the pattern you are using? Have a Great Weekend!!
Thanks for the video! I too have many beloved but scratchy throws my mother made and I'm super siked to try this new budget yarn. Also, I'm looking forward to making myself a sweater from the Anti-pilling yarn. I made one a few years ago and it took too much time to just look awful after a couple of washings. YES! I guessed right! My guess was mostly based on color difference. I figured the deeper, richer looking red yarn was more expensive.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! And I felt the same way about budget yarns!! They've come a long way since the 70's and 80's!! Have fun with your new projects!! 🥁❤️🧶
I chose A as the less expensive yarn, I was looking for fuzzy and detail and B detail was better. Thanks for this video I will place my order with Premier.
Thanks for this video, Elise. I tend toward soft yarns because my hands react to hard ones and regular wool, as well. Merino and soft blends are best for me, along with soft acrylics. Having a variety of yarn choices suits me, for sure! Another great video!
I guessed A but it was the colours that gave it away for me, be it yarn, paint or anything usually you get softer colours with more expensive. But that isn’t always what you want so it doesn’t make it better, but I did like the crisper detail on yarn B. Also for amigurumi I’m not always wanting huge balls of yarn , which often is the case with budget friendly yarns. There’s a place for both I guess. Thanks for your video xxx
Hi Elise I totally got that wrong 😂 I said “B” was the budget friendly my reasoning was that the colours were/are dull/muted 😂 I liked the colours of the Drummer boy “A” he definitely looked cuter! That’s interesting to know thank you for sharing with us. That’s really wonderful of Premier to do that for your followers, very generous. Take care and stay safe and well. God bless 🙏🏼💕😊🧶
I'm so glad you enjoyed the comparison!! I was surprised at how little difference there was between the two toys! I thought it was very generous of Premier to offer everyone 20% off too!! 🧶🧶🧶
Love this video! I chose A. Love this pattern. I have made my first amigarumi..a zebra for my great grandson. Currently working on a horse for my grandson. Still have 2 cats to go for granddaughter and great nephew. I am having fun!
It was fairly easy to choose A as the cheaper yarn, but it certainly didn't look " cheap". It just wasn't as crisp looking. Thank you for doing the comparison.
I wash my afghans after I knit or crochet them and add a bunch of hair conditioner to the rinse cycle. It works every time to make the afghans softer. Try it, what do you have to lose.
Great video! I did guess right, there is more of a "halo" on the Basix, and just a little less definition on the stitches, the colors of the Anti-Pilling were more muted. I'm curious, though...I'm new to Amigurumi, and I'd love to know your thoughts on Acrylic vs. Cotton yarn for Amigurumi. I was told that Cotton was the way to go...I guess they were thinking for definition. Thanks for a great video!!
Cotton is fantastic for amigurumi! The reason I no longer use it is because it has less stretch than acrylic or wool. It ended up being a contributor to developing tendinitis. It wasn't the only factor but I noticed an improvement in my symptoms when I switched to stretchier yarns! Hope that helps! 🧶🧶🧶
I recommend the Basix if budget is the most important deciding factor. If you want a more detailed doll then you probably would like the Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted. Hope that helps! 🥁❤️🧶
I had said "B", but then I took a second look, and thought "A." For Amigurumi, I usually use The Woobles kits. They started out with acrylic, but now they provide their Easy Peasy t-shirt yarn.
I’ve never used this yarn before but will now give it a try . My friends own an alpaca ranch and yarn shop so I have used some alpaca for amigurumi and can honestly say I’d rather use budget yarn for the toys because of stitch definition and durability. Those drummer boys are just so cute ☺️ thanks for another great video…. Karen from Greenleaf Idaho
Thanks so much, Karen! Alpaca is such a gorgeous fiber but the one time I tried it for amigurumi I found that it didn't have the structure I wanted. If a toy is going to get a lot of hugs and cuddles (and need washing here and there) a more budget friendly yarn makes a lot of sense! 🥁❤️🧶
They both look so similar. So cute drummer boys!! I haven't tried Premiere basic yet but I will now. I was over at Michael's and Lion brand has a yarn called Skein tone. Not sure if its new but on sale today, sunday.
I couls only tell because there was a slight fluffiness on the white of the drum. Otherwise they looked exactly the same to me. Thanks for the experiment!
I’m guessing B because the colors seem under-dyed, but that might just be the colors. A is definitely brighter, but fuzzier. I like my amigurumi with zero fuzz! Damn! I was wrong! I am definitely a yarn snob. My go-to yarn is MADELINETOSH Tosh Vintage, but I also love experimenting with yarns from different Etsy sellers. My biggest surprise was Lion Brand Mandala Bonus yarn! My daughter wanted a blanket to take to college and she picked that yarn. I crocheted with 2 strands because it was a dk weight and I wanted a squishier blanket. It was soooooo scratchy while I was working on it. I was so upset…until I washed it!! I added some Downey and then dried it on medium and it is CRAZY soft!!
Thank you for sharing!! I'm a recovering yarn snob!! Lol! 😂 Mad Tosh is sooooo nice!!! For garments I still love luxury yarns but I'm learning to open my horizons for toys and blankets. 🧶🧶🧶
Have you tried washing the scratchy blankets with a cup or two of vinegar in the wash water and then machine drying them? Sometimes those old acrylic blankets will relax and fluff up a bit.
As a "wanna be" maker I couldn't guess really. But enjoying all that I am learning from your videos. I have learned so much about yarn that I did not know before. As I'm trying to build a stash to use for toys I'm wondering what would you recommend for a starting inventory of colors that you would use the most in your projects. I have so much yarn on hand..but I was a collector of more variegated colors to use on scarves/cowls, etc. rather than solids. I'm so in love with the bunnies you have made and the pica pau collection. thanks ~ Anne
That's wonderful! I'm so glad you've enjoyed the videos! I would focus on colors that work for the toys you want to make. Are you more drawn to vibrant colors, pastels or neutrals? Hope that helps!! 🧶🧶🧶
I find interesting that the yellow was the only color that had a bigger diference! The others looked almost identical. The "fluffiness" of the yarn is what gave away the answer for me. X)
@@EliseRoseCrochet it was the fuzziness of his hair that made me guess he was the budget yarn, and the stitch definition on B. It was a fun exercise, thanks for posting it!😊😘
Not even at the end of the video yet and purposely not looking at other comments, and my guess is B. Leaving this open till the end to add more after I get through the video. Okay, so I was wrong. I was going off the heavier weight yarn doll looking . . . for lack of a better term, smoother. Like the stitching was done more closely or something. I don't know, A just looks like it flows together better. But I'm thinking that could likely be because it's a heavier yarn, because that's what's gonna happen naturally between thinner and thicker ones. Honestly, and I know this isn't always possible since ordering online is a thing, but I go by feel and decide what to buy from that. For instance, Red Heart. I *hate* the regular Red Heart. It's exactly what you were describing - scratchy, uncomfortable feeling, just an all around no from me. Red Heart With Love, however, that stuff is amazing. Incredibly soft, I love using it, it's great. So I gotta ask, are you gonna do the rest of the patterns for the 12 Days olf Christmas, and will it be in correct number? Cuz that'd be an awesome display to add to day by day.
💜 So excited for this video! I chose A, mainly because of the details on the drum and his chest, but also his hair color. I was surprised that there wasn't a bigger difference. Is there a way to order the color swatches that you show in your video? I would love to get one. I will have to look into those patterns as well - so cute!!
I was surprised too!! I thought there would be a much bigger difference! I'm not sure about the color swatches but I will check for you! I may not hear back before next week though! 🥁❤️🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Thank you! I appreciate that so much, because ordering online can be so frustrating. You think you're getting a golden yellow and end up with an ugly orange 🤪 The computer screen never matches what you get.
Great video, Elise. I recently order some Premier Basic DK and am curious how it will perform. I'm working on a small Nativity and DK or sport yarn is so difficult to source locally in enough colors. Now you've got me thinking about using the anti-pilling as an alternative since it's a little lighter.
I was really interested in this topic so was pleased to have a notification of your video this morning. I have just “discovered” amigurumi and have begun a crochet and a knitting project. I have used Premier Anti Pilling DK yarn before for a cowl project and really liked it, so it was interesting to me to see how you found using the worsted version for amigurumi. At the risk of being called a yarn snob (I’m not really 😊) it is not what I would call an expensive yarn. I would be very interested to know how you would compare these yarns to yarns such as Berroco Vintage or Cascade 220 (which are probably more mid range in the scheme of things if you compare them to say Malabrigo etc). I would think there would be many instances where a very sturdy and washable acrylic yarn would be preferable, especially when gifting to young children. As I can easily obtain the Premier Anti Pilling Worsted where I live, I will definitely try this out. I am a recent subscriber to your channel after having discovered you when looking for info on amigurumi. Been binging somewhat on your videos! Really enjoying your content and so pleased I found you.
Thank you so much!! I thought about doing the video comparing a truly "expensive" yarn but ultimately I didn't think it would be helpful for most people. I've been a bit of a yarn snob in the recent past but this experiment really changed my mind! 🥁❤️🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Good point! I forgot to mention what really impressed me about your videos I’ve watched so far is how you encourage people not be discouraged by their crocheting/knitting results but to keep working on their skills, assuring them they will improve, and that they can do this. I love how you share and compare your first attempt at a project to a more recent one, and also your struggles with knitting amigurumi as opposed to crocheting. I think it is so affirming for those of us starting out.

Oooh! Thank you so very much for sharing your yarn choices!!! This will be helpful to a lot of folks!! 🥁❤️🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet Love the patterns you shared also. My grandma will probably be getting an ornament set of those! I have a sister who is obsessed with nutcrackers so I'm on the hunt for a good pattern for that too.
I guessed right and the halo is what got me
It's definitely a giveaway! 🧶🧶🧶
We have my grandmother’s scratchy blankets too. They are scratchy, but precious! I’m new to crochet, but I really like Premier Yarn. Great vlog! I guessed wrong.
They are definitely precious! The differences between the toys is very subtle!! 🥁❤️🧶
Love this Elise. I could only tell by the little drum, the detail part, but other than that, I would never know!!!! I'll be keeping a lookout for that yarn! I do love the anti-pilling one, I've used it a few times. What a cute drummer boy!
Thanks so much, Katie!! That's the only place I can see is different as well!! 🥁❤️🧶
Yes I guessed right. The way I could tell was by the size of tge yarn. I also use both of these yarns and love them. Thank you for the comparison because even using this yarn I still was wondering.
Good eye!! They really are both great yarns for amigurumi!! 🥁❤️🧶
Yes they are great yarns😊
Haha!! I wondered if anyone had caught of glimpse of one of them! And that's great! There's a lot to love about Premier. 🥁❤️🧶
I guessed it wrong and I'm glad for your explanations about details so I've learn a lot! Ty! Love those little drummer boys!!!
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video! It's a great pattern!! 🥁❤️🧶
I love the details the anti-pilling yarn provides, but still like the vibrancy of the colors on the less expensive one. Hello to Pickle too! Thanks for another fun and informative video! And thank you for the coupon!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the comparison and Pickle's appearance!! 🥁❤️🧶
Took the words right from me
I use I love this cotton for many of my amigurumi projects! I’m planning to teach a class for elementary aged children on amigurumi in the spring and would LOVE to see a video about chunkier amigurumi crochet as that is what we will be working with! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing!! What a wonderful way to introduce children to amigurumi! And thank you for the video suggestion!! 🥁❤️🧶
What age range are you focusing on? Have the children had any prior crochet experience? I’ve been tinkering with maybe doing something at my school but haven’t been sure of where to start. Thank you for sharing.
I'm guessing B! They both look great though! Now back to watching so I can see the answer!
Good guess!! 🧶🧶🧶
I guessed B, based on how the yellow hair stitches look on my computer screen! Next time I order, I'm going to try the Basix. I've almost entirely given up crocheting anything other than amigurumi and I appreciate your research and advice about amigurumi. Thanks!
I'm so glad you enjoyed the comparison! 🧶🧶🧶
You're so welcome!! Thanks for the information about the Dollar Tree yarn! 🥁❤️🧶
What a great video! I appreciate your showing us these and discussing the differences! And I adore your drummer boys! So sweet!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the comparison! ❤️🧶🥁
I really like I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby when I make things for children that will be playing with the toys, but I also like the Berroco Vintage for nicer dolls. Mainstays from WalMart is actually really nice, too. It's a lot softer than Super Saver and is a little cheaper.
Thank you so much for sharing what works best for your toy making!! 🥁❤️🧶
I've heard that they are at Dollar Tree! I may have to try it out n I love those patterns! So cute!! 🥁❤️🧶
I love Premier Basix! I am making an afagan for my son with it. I guessed Drummer boy "A" because of the slight color variation of his hair. Premier Basix has brighter colors. However, I have also used the Anti Pilling and love how soft it is.
That's so good to know it makes a great afghan yarn too!! Thanks for sharing!! 🥁❤️🧶
That's so good to know that the Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted makes a great blanket yarn!! Thanks for sharing! 🥁❤️🧶
I'm so glad there's someone else who understands crying at Christmas songs. So glad you enjoyed the video! 🥁🧶❤️
I chose B as the budget friendly yarn and surprised myself. This was fun and your drummer boys are so cute. Thank you for the coupon code. Have a blessed weekend friends.
They are so similar, I have to look close to see the difference! 🥁❤️🧶
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!! What lucky family and friends you have!! Amigurumi has a habit of becoming an obsession!! 🤣🤣🤣
B is the budget yarn is my guess. Now lets see if I am right. No not right I was wrong. I usually use premier Basix for most of the toys I make but also add the Antipilling when needed.
Lol!! There's such a slight difference in the two! I thought they would be very different! 🥁❤️🧶
I did guess right. The Basix looked fluffier to me. I totally thought about my grandmother’s yarn collection when you were referring back to the older value yarns. Thankfully she found softer ones over time. Thank you for your comparison and pointing out the details.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video!! That's wonderful that your grandmother found softer yarns! 🥁❤️🧶
Red heart is the one that comes to mind for me it's so scratchy. Though they are making some softer options at Walmart now
I guessed wrong, but thank you for bringing Premier yarn to my attention. I have seen this brand in the store but was not sure if I should try it. Now I'm going to buy some for my next project. I love that both yarns you used come in so many colors.
That's one of the big reasons I love both of these yarns, so many gorgeous colors!!! 🥁❤️🧶
I always use Caron Simply Soft yarn for my amigurumi. I haven’t noticed cons to it. I’ve also used the Mandala yarn once (with more to come) and baby yarns. I’ve liked them all haha.
I picked the less expensive yarn as my favorite look! Great video, thanks so very much. HI PICKLES!!! love, hugs, prayers.
The Premier Basix is a fantastic yarn for amigurumi! 🥁❤️🧶
I had guessed A. My favorite yarn to make Ami's with is lion Brand 24/7 Cotton. The only con I feel it has is it doesn't have a huge color selection. They have many colors, but when looking for like a true yellow or a true orange, they fall short.
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Finding a great yarn that has all the colors you want can be a struggle! 🥁❤️🧶
Hi Elise. I think it could be A , but they both look good.
That's a good guess!! 🥁❤️🧶
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I also really believe it depends on what the toy will be used for! 🥁❤️🧶
Thanks for the comparison of the two yarns 🧶
I'm glad you enjoyed the comparison! 🥁❤️🧶
Hi Elise! It's always interesting to see which yarns are better for amigurumi and which aren't! The expensive yarns aren't always best, surprisingly! 😂😱❤
It was such a fun experiment!! 🥁❤️🧶
I was wrong and I use Katia planet, a soft acrylic that funnily enough isn't advised as a toy yarn but my toys end up a good size, are soft and they can be washed at 40 degrees.
Thanks so much for sharing that yarn! I don't believe I've heard of it before! 🧶🧶🧶
I guessed right , they both looked good . When you held them closer , I could see the fuss on A . They are both adorable 🥰 Thank you for a great review, on these yarns ❤❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! 🧶🧶🧶
So pretty!!!! I will check if I can find it here in the UK. I don't know if you had made the video of how to identify what size of hook to use in case the labels are gone from the yarn =)
Hope you can find it there!! 🥁❤️🧶
Hello Elise 👋. I thank it's A. Both looks awesome 👌. Thanks for sharing 👍😀
Great guess!! Thanks for playing along! 🥁❤️🧶
I guessed correctly because I knew the anti pilling wasn’t as fuzzy. I am so impressed with the anti pilling and color selection! I am going to take advantage of the coupon code for sure. Such cute patterns. I am so glad I found you. Thanks❤️💚❤️💚🎄
I'm so glad you enjoyed the comparison!! Enjoy the coupon!! 🥁❤️🧶
I was guessing A was most expensive. It fills in better. Yarn has improved. The budget friendly does still carry a stigma. 💕🌸
It really does and I'm glad I tried the budget yarn for myself! I was pleasantly surprised! 🥁❤️🧶
Yes I knew immediately which was which, but that is only because I know both very well. I use them a lot...lol Two of my favorites for pretty much that exact reasons you listed. Beautiful work. I love and envy those that can do amigurumi. My eyesight won't allow me to do such small work thoght.
They are great yarns! And bless your heart, I'm glad you're able to crochet! 🥁❤️🧶
Intersting your drummets came out great , I use cotton mainly ( sucker for schjeepes) acrillic mixs are good but I find cotton is best for arugurami, I just love the look more . I have used acrillic mixes many times but would pick cotton if I can lol xx
Thanks so much for sharing! I love cotton too, it just doesn't love me back! 😂 Causes me a lot of pain in my hands since it isn't as stretchy. 🥁❤️🧶
I picked correctly because I noticed the differences in the drums right off. It was fun to guess. Do you have a preference on wether you use use an acrylic or wool yarn? Or do you base your choice on the pattern you are using? Have a Great Weekend!!
That's exactly where the differences show up, on those details! And I choose my yarns based on the project, what it is and who it's for! 🥁❤️🧶
I'm glad you enjoyed the comparison! Have fun yarn shopping! 🥁❤️🧶
Thanks for this video, Elise.
I tend toward soft yarns because my hands react to hard ones and regular wool, as well. Merino and soft blends are best for me, along with soft acrylics.
Having a variety of yarn choices suits me, for sure!
Another great video!
Thanks so much, Nettonya!! Variety is the spice of life as they say!! 🥁❤️🧶
I’m so excited about this because you are! Love listening, watching and learning from you. Thank you!!❤
Thank you so much!! I appreciate your kind comments! 🥁❤️🧶
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. You're right, there's a place for both!! 🧶🧶🧶
Hi Elise
I totally got that wrong 😂 I said “B” was the budget friendly my reasoning was that the colours were/are dull/muted 😂
I liked the colours of the Drummer boy “A” he definitely looked cuter!
How fun!!! Sounds like you're enjoying making amigurumi!! 🥁❤️🧶
It was fairly easy to choose A as the cheaper yarn, but it certainly didn't look " cheap". It just wasn't as crisp looking. Thank you for doing the comparison.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the comparison! 🥁❤️🧶
I wash my afghans after I knit or crochet them and add a bunch of hair conditioner to the rinse cycle. It works every time to make the afghans softer. Try it, what do you have to lose.
Thank you so much for sharing! I've never heard of this tip before!!! 🧺🧺🧺
Which one would would you recommend for dolls? I am so pleased that I found your TH-cam channel. Thanks for all the great tips.
I recommend the Basix if budget is the most important deciding factor. If you want a more detailed doll then you probably would like the Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted. Hope that helps! 🥁❤️🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet thank you
I noticed but it due to the colors. In my experience most of the budget yarns have brighter colours
That was a good observation. 🥁❤️🧶
I had said "B", but then I took a second look, and thought "A." For Amigurumi, I usually use The Woobles kits. They started out with acrylic, but now they provide their Easy Peasy t-shirt yarn.
Thank you for sharing that! I can't wait to test the Woobles! 🥁❤️🧶
B is the more expensive yarn. Both look beautiful tho!
Thanks for playing along!! 🧶🧶🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet I agree☺️👍🏼🧶
They both look so similar. So cute drummer boys!! I haven't tried Premiere basic yet but I will now. I was over at Michael's and Lion brand has a yarn called Skein tone. Not sure if its new but on sale today, sunday.
I've heard of Skein Tone yarn before!! Thanks for sharing! 🥁❤️🧶
I couls only tell because there was a slight fluffiness on the white of the drum. Otherwise they looked exactly the same to me. Thanks for the experiment!
That's a good observation! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🥁❤️🧶
Definitely going to use your code on some fun colors thank you El!!!
Oh great!! Enjoy your yarn shopping! 🧶🧶🧶
I like premier yarns. Great video!! Thank you for the comparison between the 2 yarns. I love see the differences and likeness.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! This was such a fun experiment for me!! 🥁❤️🧶
Thank you for the suggestion!! That's a great idea!! 🧶🧶🧶
I knew it was a after we looked at the colors bc surprisingly the cheaper was more vibrant
I really enjoyed doing this comparison! It was hard to tell for me as well! 🥁❤️🧶
That was very helpful!
I'm so glad!! 🥁❤️🧶
Hi, I guessed A but I forgot the letters that go with the 20 for the 20% off. That is a problem I have..but those drummer boys are both darling...
It's 20%LPSC. Hope that helps!! 🥁❤️🧶
I do loads of amigurumi and I guessed A to be the budget yarn. I do love the anti- pilling yarn tho.
Thanks for playing along!! 🥁❤️🧶
I find interesting that the yellow was the only color that had a bigger diference! The others looked almost identical. The "fluffiness" of the yarn is what gave away the answer for me. X)
Yes! I found the whole experiment so interesting!!! The differences between the two yarns was eye opening for me! 🥁❤️🧶
I think the budget friendly yarn was Drummer Boy A.... but I haven't finished watching yet 🤣
~Deb
Thanks for playing along!! 🥁❤️🧶
@@EliseRoseCrochet it was the fuzziness of his hair that made me guess he was the budget yarn, and the stitch definition on B.
It was a fun exercise, thanks for posting it!😊😘
I vote for more Pickle in vids! 🙋🏽♀️😂
Haha!! He would like that!! 🐈
I can totally see why you thought Toy A was made with the more expensive yarn! And no, I won't be making all 12, but what a great idea!! 🥁❤️🧶
My guess was doll A for the more expensive yarn, for no other reason than the yellow hair looking darker and richer in color.
Thanks so much for playing along! 🥁❤️🧶
I choose wrong! Could really see them , yet when you gave color choice, I got it right only based on colors choices.
The differences are very subtle! 🥁❤️🧶
I love your videos but Pickle makes them even better! 😂
Yes he does!! 🐱🐱🐱
I got it wrong. This was a great video.
Thank you so much! 🧶🧶🧶
I bet the Basix DK is going to work up great! I'm going to try the Anti- Pilling Everyday DK soon! 🥁❤️🧶
Thank you so much! I've come such a long way and truly believe that if I can crochet and knit toys anyone can!! 🧶🧶🧶
