Mat is incredible as a host 😊 We need a podcast even if it is once a month 👀 This is the first time that Justin is sharing more insight of what's going on 😮 not even the video on his channel shares so much 😱 Thank you Mat! Come on Justin you've got this champ ☺️!
Love this interview! A honest talk between 2 champions! Matt had his 2015 and Justin had 2023 as the lowest. For Justin it’s only positive things heading for him!
i deliberately checked comments to see if a.n.y.o.n.e. at least noticed that!! I couldn't stop hearing all the "like"s and wanted to start counting them, considered all the times where just a pause is the only thing needed for the "like" word ..... all sadly distracted me from Justin's contribution to the conversation. I forwarded to just Mat's message...... and I like Justin and LOVE Adam Neifer. oh well.
This was an incredible conversation! I went to the games for the first time to watch Justin and Laura, and man regardless of the outcome, it was incredible to watch him and of course now hear his experience from his perspective! Great convo!
Dude Justin! Can't believe some folks treated you differently after your 2023 finish. Man its their loss. You are a champ even when you are not! Your attidude is always great and will carry you through. And like you said those that matter will support you no matter what. But glad to see you use that as a fire to push you forward. Good interview guys!
Matt needs to do this with Pat. I know he’s not a Podium athlete but even if I’m HWPO or something . Those two have STORIES the world needs to hear, you just know they do 😂
@@321podium ALL OF IT!!! Seriously, loved the laid-back conversation between them getting a peek behind the curtain (mullet?). Really just hearing about the everyday challenges and struggles was awesome.
Love Justin and can’t wait to see 2024! Regardless of current or future outcomes, you will always be a favorite Champ! Loved hearing you both in this pod cast not a pod cast. Do more!😂
Loved this! Honest & revealing content about mindset, injuries, etc. No softball BS like on TEF, etc. Justin also tremendously likeable guy. Great role model & good dude.
This was everything I enjoy about Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (Jerry Seinfeld interviewing other comedians). There are great media folks in CrossFit, but the depth of understanding that Mat has about what it's like to be in the arena really led to a great interview!
Great idea... having this chats for podium.. I can definitely get into getting some podium products because I'm getting this extra motivation, this extra audio for the long workout and runs
“Yea I could compete. But that doesn’t mean you should.” I’ve tried to explain this to the ambitious athletes I’ve worked with. I mean, realistically; very few of us will get to the games. But this goes for your local competitions as well. Taxing ur nervous system too often and not prioritizing recovery is making u LESS fit. And focusing on competing regularly takes away from training and actually getting better regularly. This is such a great video with so much great information with these great CrossFit athletes. If you’re a CrossFit competitor at any level; save this video on a playlist, learn and rewatch it on ur rest days.
My total admiration for Mat. But. Every interview, every podcast he is on, is the same same story the Olympic parents, the hate for second place medal, the back injury, the same story over and over, since the sevan podcast, where he already talk everything that he put on his book, but where is the champ evolving.? What makes Joe Rogan a great host, he knows when to listen
Contrary to most of the opinions on here, I would honestly say Mat should NOT start a podcast. Phenomenal athlete and maybe a really nice guy (never met him personally) but that does not also equate to good podcast host. Too much interruption here/Mat talking for me to enjoy this. It's setup as if Mat is trying to play host, but then it just feels like he forces his way into it, when a good host sits back and listens. Honestly wasn't impressed with him on Rogan either. Feels a bit too big for his britches. Again, maybe a good guy and arguably the xfit goat, but has more to learn in the media business.
Brilliant content guys you two had such a good conversation, it was interesting funny and real. Honest open and a great insight from two awesome atheletes, keeping it real Good job Paul🏴
Friggin awesome. Mat is the goat. Justin is such a nice dude. Would love to hear Mat talk with more athletes. A velner episode would be bananas! Then a Rich one!!
Loved everything about this podcast. 2 champs just talking about there experiences and issues. Just real talk 🙌🏾👊🏽. I know once mat tells u it’s a one off it is but would love move of this!!!!! 🤌🏾
The comment about being able to clean and jerk 500 (I cannot but typically put up the biggest number in the gym weight wise) but a 12 minute mile (10 minutes but cramp and hate it so much) hit me so hard.... Side note good to see these guys at the Aarnold Classic
Matt is almost unrecognizable, which only increases my suspicion as to what gear he was using when he competed. For all you deniers who need to believe that Crossfit is clean while no other strength and endurance dominant sport is the fact is Crossfit's testing is extremely porous.
Can someone help me understand shin-spints. I haven't had them since high-school. I was a track star but they went away by the time I was 16. What prep fixes that? I was on gymnastics team and swimming but something made them disappear. Still have major front shin muscles but no idea why I've never had shinsplints since. I ran way more, lifted and swam, ( lifeguard) . Still 100 yrs later and never a shinsplint. Maybe Henshaw can answer that. I always thought it was running on hard pavement would cause it but... I was pretty lean and still pretty lean. Is it running heavy? Hmmm. Is it weight in relation to bodyweight?? I have elite friends that get splints and I don't know what to do to help them...
This was a great interview and I have definitely enjoyed the process of seeing Matt become less attitude and more of a real person who seems to genuinely care. The conversation that they had about the fuel, energy and drive that comes from hate and resentment was a very real conversation. The unfortunate part is that Matt totally admitted to making up resentments to keep him driven and that it took him a while even after he was done competing to let the resentments go, even the ones that were made up. Some how i bet that he never offered an apology to cooper, but just merely an explanation as to why. I hope I'm wrong. Where am I going with this? I still have a giant case of the ass about how Matt Fraser was the exact opposite of an ambassador for crossfit when he went on the Joe Rogan Podcast. He did crossfit zero favors and quite literally shit on the sport mostly throughout the interview. His beef with Castro or not being selected for Team USA Crossfit in 2016 i think was the resentment he used and hadn't let go of even when he went on that podcast..... but I'm sure there were other things that account for his resentment fueled interview with Rogan. I think he owes crossfit a lot more. Things that as a crossfit ambassador would help the current state of crossfit and really assist in its future growth. I think it starts with an apology to those affected across the sport by your resentment fueled attitude for YEARS. Still love ya and totally like you more now than a couple of years ago. Make things right. Not just with those around you, but to the community as a whole.
You can hit PRs in the gym and twist your ankle on the way to your car. Pretty sure Mat is speaking to me. Tied my shoe the other day and injured my meniscus.
I could’ve listened for hours and hours…..Mat’s competitive talk gives me chills 😂
Like like yeah like
Dude was just different

Justin is great. He just goes with the flow. I like how he never cuts off Matt and lets him finish his thoughts.
Love this interview! A honest talk between 2 champions! Matt had his 2015 and Justin had 2023 as the lowest. For Justin it’s only positive things heading for him!
I will never get tired of hearing Mat Fraser talk about his competitive career
The word "like" has burnout after this conversation with Justin
Like for.Justin ?

@@lisalong9140 same, wanted to see the "like" comments. It hurts to hear it so much

Great watch! I’m used to watching commentators talking to athletes. Was nice to see two champs just being champs.
Matt needs to do this with Pat. I know he’s not a Podium athlete but even if I’m HWPO or something . Those two have STORIES the world needs to hear, you just know they do 😂
Pat has not won gold but he has podiumed 5 times.
I think he means podium sponsored athlete. Maybe?
Awesome! This was everything! Loved hearing Matt being supportive of Justin.
Matt has molded himself to be a great conductor of a natural conversation...great job Matt. And always a pleasure to see the spirit of Justin.
Awesome to see these two sit down and share the convo with the community
I know Matt said this isn’t a new podcast but yeah might have to start a new podcast. Be cool to see more podium athletes!
We need more of this!
What was your favorite part?!
@@321podium ALL OF IT!!! Seriously, loved the laid-back conversation between them getting a peek behind the curtain (mullet?). Really just hearing about the everyday challenges and struggles was awesome.
Woow! We need Mat hosting a podcast ❤
Great interview! I am stoked to see Justin’s comeback this year. I have no doubts he’ll be on the podium again.
We are equally as confident, thank you for listening!
This needs to become a recurring Podcast!! I just loved this format and conversation.
Mat, the podcast host I didn't know I need it.
That Reebok story!! Lessons! They should have outfitted Matt when he came as a visitor, at least gave him shoes to borrow.
Justin is such a nice human being. I truly wish him the best.
he is a good guy. But he's done as an athlete. Tell him to screen cap this for motivation. But it won't matter.
@@BananaDanceManwhy do you say ?
i love comebacks! Justin you got this!
This was such a great show! Thank you all for coming!
Love Justin and can’t wait to see 2024! Regardless of current or future outcomes, you will always be a favorite Champ! Loved hearing you both in this pod cast not a pod cast. Do more!😂
This was a great episode!! Thank you both.
I can’t get over how lean Mat looks. He looks great.
He's built like a mma fighter
Loved this! Honest & revealing content about mindset, injuries, etc. No softball BS like on TEF, etc. Justin also tremendously likeable guy. Great role model & good dude.
Sooo good, so honest. You are a great interviewer Matt
Thank you for this. 💜 love the inside look at both of their mindsets

Such a great video! Can not wait for Podium to be easily available in the UK! PB Crunch whey is unreal!
I know this wasn’t supposed to be the start of a podcast but… this shit was hella fire . This should continue to be a thing
Really enjoyed listening to this podcast, can’t wait to see Justin back at the games 👏🏻
Loved this, would love some more of this from Matt, and Justin, can’t wait to see you back on top next year
We love it. Keep being honest gentlemen. It means a lot in this sport. And you both know that.
This was awesome. So cool to see two champs talking like this together. What’s it gonna take to get Rich and Mat in a room together like this? 😅
It would be like the De Niro and Pacino scene from the movie Heat.
Keep going bro! Both of you are champs and will be!
That part were you guys saying when you have that person beside you that’s powerful. 💪🏽
Like, like, it’s like, like like…. 🤯

That's such an amazing insight into their headspace. Wicked shoutout to our home gym by Justin too. Squamish Barbell baby! It's a good day!!
Love Matt honesty about his resentment and how it fuels him but at the end he recognized that’s not him . That’s a true champion

Glad y’all are buddies. So rad.
Amazing job guys 👏❤
I can't see Justin winning again with this mindset.
Mat the good dude. Mat the genius. For all to see.
any update regarding Mal O Brien
This is single handily the best Crossfit games interview ever!!!
Justin summed up in one word, “like”…
“And it’s like..”
“But like..”
“I’m like..”
Love mat showing that mamba mentality! 🔥🔥🔥

Kind of odd that so many Fraser fans in the comments spell his first name as "Matt".
