I feel like this episode just reminds us the good work that Charlie and Pim do. They both try their best to improve the lives of others. You love to see it ❤
I think Pim treats the job like he really wants to impact the world and make people smile. Charlie treats the job like any other job. Follow the rules and get paid
And they are really good at it, The difference between Pim and Charlie is that the former lets himself be carried away by feelings, while Charlie is more objective, although that does not make him less emotionally intelligent.

Fun fact: The whole "creating life from an egg" thing is actually a somewhat obscure reference to these series of videos on TH-cam where some Russian guy is trying to create a homunculus from a chicken egg by injecting his sperm into it. In one of the many vids, a small worm comes out that spits acid at him, and he responds by smashing it with a dictionary. He made a bunch of videos after that making a ton of the things before he sadly died of a heart attack. Its all obviously fake but definitely an interesting watch.

8:55 Those are the official latin american voice actors, you can see their names in the credits. Unfortunately the joke wasn't changed to english in the LA dub, instead the Professor just says "I can hear you guys, I have good hearing."

7:41 We’ve had a lot of “real” feeling moments in Smiling Friends, but this one to me hits that feeling the hardest.
That argument felt too genuine, the repressed frustration at first, a lot of venting, that leads into that build-up of bottled up anger that finally spills out over one single comment resulting in a shouting fit. It's too real.
Funny metajoke there, Pim says sorry and Charlie tells him it's not his fault, but Pim voice actor is one of the writers so in a way it was his fault.

I think this is the funniest episode of the season so far, between the Joel Haver cameo and the Latin american dub joke (who are even credited on the episode) this was too hillarious from beginning to end
Its just fun seeing folks go "ayyyye joel!" when he shows up
1:59 Yeah, she lost her boyfriend then Billy Kametz to stage 4 colon cancer and I was really hoping he'd surpass it but it took him instead. It'll be 2 years since we lost our Shining Diamond/Shield Hero. I just wish he was alive when Attack on Titan ended, that never happened.

We need more of this kind of show. Something made by talented creators but made for the platform it appears on. Not just putting Fred or the Annoying Orange doing pretty much the same schtick but on a major network lol.

I think this episode has very interesting implications for the show’s worldbuilding. In this universe, there are humans (Like Dave, Desmond, Mr. Frog’s producer, Mr Boss, etc) and there are critters (all 4 smiling friends, DJ Spit, Armzo, etc.) In the first few episodes, it’s established that humans and critters can have relationships without stigma (Jennifer and Shrimp, Pim’s sister and her boyfriend) but this episode shows that humans and critters can possibly have children with one another. Dennis looks to be a cross between a human and a critter, as he looks like a human but looks very odd for his age. Doug is his brother, but he’s fully human. It is possible that one of them was adopted, but there’s no evidence to suggest this. I wonder where this show will take the worldbuilding from here.
their mother was spamtopian, idk if they have the same father, but i feel at least doug's father was a live-action human, because he is a slightly glitchy (spamtopian side?) rotoscoped human, which i feel like you would get from a live action human mixed with an ms paint drawing. and then for daniel, either the father also had some critter in him to pass on to daniel, or daniel's father was a different person and was a critter, because yeah, he has critter-like characteristics. but i dont know, because daniel became rotoscoped himself when he started fighting doug, but that makes you wonder, was that literally daniel's (live action) father showing, or was doug, being half spamtopian like daniel, somehow bringing daniel into his "reality of being rotoscope" once they started fighting? anyway who knows, it's all very interesting and fun to speculate about.

I definitely think the only people in the smiling friends universe that are human are the live action humans. I think everyone else is some other species. Even those drawn human-like may be something else, like the boss.
